| -9 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooNah, I just think that because of biology, women have 2 times where they can make a choice to not become parents/not become pregnant. (1) Before they have sex, by birth control, and (2) after they're pregnant, by abortion. Unfortunately for men, they only have one time, and that's before they have sex. That's how it is biologically. I absolutely think women should "control their eggs" as it's much easier to use birth control than it is to abort a fetus. | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 10:20 PM |
| 0 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooI think men deserve, as women also do, the right to consent to sex without consenting to a child. Completely agree. But I disagree with your second half - I think that instead of saying "it's not fair that women can have abortions!" we should focus on how to render more control to everyone on their own reproductive rights. And again, once a child is born, I think it has the right to support, regardless of the conditions that brought about it's birth. | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 10:10 PM |
| -1 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooNo, I'm not saying all of those things. I believe in equality. I think both parents should have to contribute equally to a child's life. I know women who pay child support to men who have custody of their children. I think that's right. I do think that having sex = consent to parenthood. I think that when you're having sex with someone, you should know their stance on abortion. I think that people of both sexes have the right to choose their reproductivity, but what I'm saying is, is that becaus… | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 09:53 PM |
| -8 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood too"if you don't want to have a child, keep your whore legs closed." Yes. I agree. Seriously, teaching teens, male and female, to prevent unwanted pregnancies is an awesome cause. BUT, just because a woman's body is where a baby gestates, doesn't mean that it's a mens rights vs. feminist question. It just is the way it is. If men had a uterus, I'm sure that I would support their right to abort a fetus. | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 09:41 PM |
| -1 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooWhat I'm saying is, is that because of biology, the man's right to opt out of parenthood occurs at a moment that is different than a woman's. What would happen if a woman wanted to abort, but a man wanted to keep the fetus? You'd say, it's her choice, because it's her body. Well, abortion has the same reasoning, it's her choice, because it's her body. Men have the same right to do what they choose with their body and body products. It's just not perfectly parallel to women's, because of anatomy. | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 09:31 PM |
| -4 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooI said in another reply: What I'm getting at, is that the reason abortion is legally available to women, is because it's their body, and they have the right to do with it what they want. Men have that same right to do what they want to do with their body (vasectomy). There are no equivalents for abortion for a man - male and female anatomy are different. The way in which each sex must approach preventing parenthood is different. I'm just saying, abortion isn't a "genderist" issue - it's a body a… | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 09:20 PM |
| 3 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooEveryone knows and agrees that it's the woman's choice. This is definitely not the case. There are plenty of people who want to take this right from women. I understand that men don't want to be providers for a child they never wanted. So what should be the alternative? How can we prevent men that don't want to be fathers from having to be fathers? Because I agree with you - I think men shouldn't have to be forced into parenthood; my only caveat is, is that the innocent child's rights supersede … | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 09:09 PM |
| -6 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooYeah, I completely agree. But is it a woman's fault that she, because of evolution, is the one with the organ in which a baby gestates? | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 08:59 PM |
| -25 | Opting out: Women can have an abortion, some men say they should have a choice over parenthood tooThis is silly. Abortion isn't (primarily) opting out of motherhood, it's opting out of pregnancy, and the use of her body to create an infant. If men could carry a baby to term, I would fully support their right to an abortion. The fact of the matter is that men can't carry babies, and that their contribution to the creation of a fetus is sperm. If you don't want to be a father, control your sperm (condom, vasectomy, etc.). While I agree that women should try preventative measures rather than ab… | /r/MensRights | 09/11/13 08:34 PM |
