| 1 | Feminism Tell the Truth'No one cares. That is the thing. At least in corporate America, no one cares whether you are male, female, gay, straight, black, latino, or dress up as a stuffed animal of the weekend.' I'd love for that to be true, but all the evidence says otherwise. You might like to read this, there is lots like it looking more specifically at race, sexuality, although nothing about stuffed animals. http://gender.stanford.edu/news/2014/why-does-john-get-stem-job-rather-jennifer | /r/MensRights | 02/03/16 01:04 PM |
| 1 | Feminism Tell the TruthThe numbers in the stat may not be exactly the same but it is still true. http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2006/jun/29/art.gender (yes 2006, I seriously doubt it's not still relevant). The take home message was about representation of women in the media any how. Maybe porn does drive down rape. The article you linked clearly stated that the bottom line on these experiments is, "More Net access, less rape." Then suggested that this could be 'because it's easy to imagine how porn might serv… | /r/MensRights | 02/03/16 12:54 PM |
| 1 | Feminism Tell the TruthI'm glad that's the only bit you found mindboggling | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:24 PM |
| 3 | Feminism Tell the TruthThanks. I understand. Also while we don't agree, I learnt a lot from your post and understand where you're coming from. | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:14 PM |
| 1 | Feminism Tell the TruthHi. You're right, a study from 1989 is old but it still stands true. Yes there's lots of types of porn, but the overwhelming majority is of the type I described. So if you were a kid and wanted to watch porn the odds are you'd be watching porn that would be that type. The dynamics that most (seriously most, let's be honest here) porn materials present are questionable. This is without even touching on the levels of abuse of women within the porn industry. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoFap/comments/… | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:04 PM |
| -2 | Feminism Tell the TruthIt is not certain if rape is on the decline. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/06/18/AR2006061800610.html Even if it was, it wouldn't mean that rape culture wasn't a problem. The existence of rape culture isn't hinging on it being 'pervasive' Just because someone isn't okay with hearing someone shout 'I'm a rapist' doesn't mean they make the link between the physical assault and the crime. How many people in that crowd, upon hearing that claim, would then call the police?… | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 03:47 AM |
| -1 | Feminism Tell the TruthI showed plenty of proof. Plenty. First you said that inequal pay was a myth. Then you said noone was saying it wasn't. Then you said that I was wrongly accrediting the pay gap to discrimination. You then went on to put words into my mouth about patriarchy, saying that I thought that if I highlighted the pay gap I thought I was proving patriarchy. THEN you asked me to answer your questions about men being paid more and working more, and why shouldn't they be paid more. You jump from topic to top… | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 02:09 AM |
| -10 | Feminism Tell the TruthYes it seems very possible that the difference is due to women being less likely to negotiate, but we can't say for sure. Ofcourse you wouldn't lose sleep for 4.8-7 cents. This argument that it can't be due to direct discrimination because it is a 'lifestyle choice' and failure to negotiate on the woman's part discredits the influence of society. Let's say that men are more likely to be be ambitious and get the higher salary. Is this because men are inherently better than woman at getting bigger… | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:43 AM |
| -4 | Feminism Tell the TruthAlso it's really weird that you added all these questions to the end of this post then asked why I hadn't addressed them. FYI I have no interest in looking all this up for you. I can tell that whatever I will say you will argue it. All I'll say is you don't need facts and papers to see that there is rape culture etc in the US, you just have to open your eyes, keep an open mind and have some empathy. | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:28 AM |
| -9 | Feminism Tell the Truthyawn read the articles again. You can present the info like that and it's fine. I see your point, but I don't agree with it and believe you are arguing from a stance of wanting to discredit the fact that we live in a patriarchal society. | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 01:18 AM |
| -2 | Feminism Tell the TruthOh wow, yep if it's the law it must be so. Here you go. Sorry to burst your happy bubble but the pay gap does still exist. Here are some links before you ask me to prove it. https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/47qsfm/feminism_tell_the_truth/d0f8eh3 | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 12:53 AM |

| -8 | Feminism Tell the Truthwell.. yeah the OP I replied too said that feminism was a 'house of cards'. Look through my posts on this thread, like two back I posted lots of peer reviewed data, though I don't know why you can't just google it yourself. | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 12:27 AM |
| -1 | Feminism Tell the TruthYes Exactly! the individual potential is the same. But the potential to contribute to society is highly marked by gender. I think our phrases agree in a weird way. edit: hey for some reason I only saw the first line of your post. Considering the range is an interesting point, thanks for pointing it out. I'm not sure how I could apply it to the argument against systematic sexism but I will definitely keep it in mind and try and look into it. TY | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 12:17 AM |
| -5 | Feminism Tell the TruthThank you! Yes it is a gap worth fighting for. The 23% is still concerning to me, and is an indication of the culture we live in. Half the population earns almost a quarter more than the other based on their gender. It's not about fairness, and as we've covered, being paid less for the same job, but don't you think it's interesting to think about? By the virtue of the gender you were born you have such vastly different limitations and potential to contribute to society. | /r/MensRights | 27/02/16 12:05 AM |
| 0 | Feminism Tell the TruthDid you read those articles? from the first link 'A new survey from PayScale this morning finds that the wage gap nearly evaporates when you control for occupation and experience among the most common jobs' Yep, nearly. from the second 'What the 2009 Labor Department study showed was that when the proper controls are in place, the unexplained (adjusted) wage gap is somewhere between 4.8 and 7 cents. ' Here's the study you asked for any how. http://www.payscale.com/gender-lifetime-earnings-gap 'W… | /r/MensRights | 26/02/16 11:55 PM |
| -35 | Feminism Tell the Truthno. Educate yourself. Women are paid less for the same jobs, even when you factor in industry and maternal leave. They are paid less for the exact same jobs. | /r/MensRights | 26/02/16 11:36 PM |
| -8 | Feminism Tell the Truthare you blind? open your eyes. Feminist issues aren't made up. Just because you are uncomfortable hearing them doesn't mean they're made up. | /r/MensRights | 26/02/16 11:26 PM |
