They are completely uninterested in payment plans - I talked to at least 12 lawyer firms when she sued me the first time and none were even slightly interested in payments, cash on the barrel. Of the 3 local guys we talked to recently they all had the same cash on the barrel policy. IDK if it's just a 'custody lawyer' quirk or whatnot. I'm not sure how I would be able to determine this, since a judge won't be picked until after I choose a lawyer and he starts filling out the paperwork..

Wow did I seem like I was complaining? If I did I missed the mark. In fact looking at all these comments I may have missed the mark completely. I'm not upset about the fees the lawyers are asking for. I just want to get the best I can for my $3500 so I am sure I can get my son. Oh no that's not how it works. They say they'll give the $2500 back if she does sign, but they still want the litigation money up front. Like I said this seemed sketch to me until three in a row all said the same thing. I am not griping about the money being laid out here, I just want to be sure I'm picking a good lawyer for the money and I don't know how to do that.
