Date in your life arena. I said life arena and not age range. He’s being controlling because he’s built his life and he needs you to fit in it. You’re young and free and need to build your own thing. If you’re 26- you could date up until 35 and you’d be in the same life arena(unless you’re dating on the extreme ends of the spectrum)

You sound like you don’t have a sense of self. Your low self esteem combined with the confidence of this guy is the primary basis for your attachment. Go to therapy, work on yourself and then re-evaluate who you need and who you don’t need.

But you don’t seem interested in those things? I wonder if he should find some male friends to do these things with.

I’ve agreed to try 2 30-min workouts a week. I think this should give him some relief I’m sorry but his behavior sounds controlling. Working out and health is such a personal thing and as long as you guys can go on walks and hikes it shouldn’t seem like a requirement but he’s making it seem like one.

I honestly think you went to the gym for a year and a half so there must be some part of you that’s into it. Like I’ve been going for a while but sometimes I need a break and go less for a month or two. Also it’s maybe the type of gym you go to using those boring machines that make it seem so daunting. I hate them too. Try to take a class like CrossFit or kickboxing and go first thing in the morning and knock it out. Also you could join a running group, Pilates, hot yoga. There is literally so m…

I’m a big fan of lightning bolts chemistry so I just couldn’t get into it if I wasn’t feeling intense chemistry. Just because you have a good fit doesn’t mean it’ll be a great relationship. You need initial excitement, chemistry and a good fit for the relationship to work

Do you think either of you are ready to jump into a serious relationship? It seems like both of you have some unresolved feelings about your previous relationships(you sound more resolved than him). Maybe get some distance, give each other some time to work on yourselves and if you miss each other enough, come back to each other?

While this may not be a deal breaker, I would definitely make it clear that his lack of care and respect for your feelings is out of line. What if you kept your ex boyfriends old sweatshirts and wore them around him and invalidated his feelings when he got mad? Also a bunch of short flings, keeping his ex gf’s stuff? Either he’s clinging onto her or he’s a player. Stop fighting and wasting your energy and distance yourself till he genuinely understands the problem and makes a change.

Idk I think guys make up their mind about women early on. If he got a “I don’t have to do much to keep her around” vibe(basically you’re too available), yeah he’s not doing much and you’re still around. Alternatively, if he got a “wow I gotta really work to get this girl” vibe from you I.e you keeping your standards high, not accepting mediocre dates, not letting the relationship get too deep until he’s all in (this doesn’t include fucking other people- women with high standards don’t just jump …

I disagree about the fwb thing but yeah if you wanted more commitment from him, you should’ve waited at least a month before having sex.

Does it feel right to you? If it doesn’t, then cut off the sex and distance yourself for a little bit. This post tells me you’re not really comfortable being around his friends, hanging in clubs all the time. So stop accompanying him to these places. Next time, demand he sets a better date. Being submissive only works when the guy you’re being submissive to has your and his best interest in mind. You have to be able to trust him 100%. Don’t give yourself to someone whose using you (it may not be…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
