10	Protect your energy from everyone This is so difficult. My best friend of 3 years has been drifting away, while I'm in the middle of divorcing my abusive husband. 1	Can't shake your ex off? Make an ex-boyfriend list! This is seriously helpful, especially if you're still in communication with that person. I'm in the middle of a divorce from my abusive ex and I wrote lists of "Shit He Did" and "Shit He Said." As I read Why Does He Do That?, the examples of abusive men reminded me of other things to add and the lists just kept growing. So now when he's begging me to come back, I re-read those lists.
