Love this! I used to work in banking + private equity, ie a field with literally all men. My first job I was definitely sexually harassed and talked over and pushed to the edge. Next job, I emerged as a butterfly. I had to be just as aggressive back. Sometimes people would start to talk over me or interrupt (one guy always said “can I interrupt you for a second”) and my answer was always the same: “if you want my opinion/the answer to your question, don’t interrupt me again” Edit: not people, me…

Unlimited toppings, too. If that’s not high value, I don’t know what is.

Agreed here. 29F Indian-American. My dad is luckily a delight but I can’t say he always was. I know my parents had issues early on because of how he was raised (Indian men in India believe they are special and smart and worth talking to, while women are just their maids and caretakers) - I don’t know when he changed, but it seems like my mom laid down the law eventually. I’ve dated a few Indian men, all disappointments. Gaslighters, narcissists, emotionally unavailable, unreliable. I had brown m…

I’m super concerned about this as a future therapist. She really shouldn’t be giving you advice as it is, and this is just sloppy. Literally no one knows your situation better than you do, including your therapist. I’m sorry you had to go through that 😔

Had a NVM ex who used to make me to pay for everything (I was young, naive, and a pickme) - my rent, his rent, dinner if I wanted to go out - all because he made a fraction of what I did when we graduated and because I got him his job. Then repeatedly told me my job was a joke / I was letting them take too much of my time, my hard skills were apparently debatable, and that I was “crazy” for being upset over this financial arrangement. He came from a family that had no concept of saving, so he wa…

Haha. He thinks she hates men and is looking for a “culling” of the male species. She has a twin brother who he says “won’t talk to his sister” and that he’s embarrassed that his daughter is “racist” since they’re Asian Canadians who “only speak English at home”

Right?? There was an AITA post today about how this guy is concerned about his daughters hateful and “abhorrent” views... spoiler alert he said she was “anti-male” and racist against white people. Cited FDS as one of the subs. 🙄

YOU HAD TO PAY FOR HIM ON YOUR BIRTHDAY? I hope you guys went somewhere Michelin starred on his, and as you sat down, you said “I’m really looking forward to this meal. It was great of you to treat me for this as your guest. Thanks 😘”

Agreed... feels like the whole “women tempt men into sin” argument in several religions on the “other woman” front, as if men have absolutely zero self control or agency in their own affairs. The whole plot line of desperate women seducing men in relationships is so overdone. Nearly every book, movie, or show we consume from our earliest years vilifies the woman. Disappointing, but not surprising, that people don’t stop to question the narrative.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
