Thanks for the sane perspectives and inspiration on finding someone new. I'm finding enjoyable components of connections with a few people but no one really makes my bunny jump. Yet. I know finding the perfect person is fantasy/unrealistic. Keeping an eye out for good intellectual and physical chemistry, looking only in my social circles. No apps just yet.

I completely identify with that feeling. Society taught us that we're not Real Men if we don't stand up for our woman and crush all offenders. Hulk smash! But I think in the end, you won. No one got hurt, and it's likely that your wife would have been more disappointed with you if you'd been physically violent than if you'd shown "firm calm" and just gotten both of you away from the guy. And violence would've added to the crappy place you two were already in, maybe worse. So, kudos from me. (And…

I suggest digging deep with your therapist about it, specifically the moment you discovered/learned about your wife and her friend. Or the last time you two had sex. Are you depressed, even a little? Props for reaching out and talking about it here. Inspiring.

I was just thinking how Fall in the PNW is the wrong time to get divorced (rain/gloom). But hiking can make up for a lot of that.

I did 6 yrs in the 80s (USS Iowa). Really gave me some structure and made me focus on getting things right. Hope it's as enjoyable for you. Are you getting to travel?

A good friend says his adhd meds have been a game changer for the better. I hope they work for you, too. Of course never combine the two, but maybe keep it in the back of your mind for somewhere down the road. Tons of sane info out there about it.

Long shot, but I'll mention it anyway: microdosing mushrooms helps me with mood, focus and motivation. PM if you'd like to know more. (I'm not a supplier)

Super stressful weekend. Wife with high expectations' birthday, big party, expensive gift request, full moon (ahem). Trying to shift into Kind Servant mode, which works really well for both of us when I can maintain it. Aiming for good sleep, meditation & exercise to keep me balanced.

A) don't do it. It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Might not feel temporary. B) antidepressants are an easy way to get a little less down. If you don't want to go thru the whole doctor thing, try 5HTP and St John's Wort from the drug store. C) in your comment above you defended yourself and pushed back on that guy. What that says is that somewhere inside you, you believe you're important.

Your self-awareness and your drive will get you thru. Take care of yourself as well as you can, but don't stress too much about it. You're doing great. I second the search for a therapist. Talking about your life and struggles with someone who's in your corner can be really helpful.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
