Completely spot on advice. I followed it exactly through good instincts, good advice and a bit of dumb luck and I’ve maintained custody through 2 contentious cycles. I could very well be in court every few years (family court is such a great tool for abusers). But I’ll be there with my tall, slightly older, handsome, married, slick but not slimy lawyer and a cool head. LISTEN TO THIS LADY.

Not only is “mens work” less frequent as opposed to “womens work” it is also often outside the home (lawn care, vehicle maintenance, grilling, etc) where they’re more likely to receive social validation for it.

This is 100% the correct reading in my opinion. It should be a cautionary tale for forever girlfriends.

Same thing just happened to me but I resisted the urge to get him the gift. It was SO STRONG though - was literally on the payment screen before I snapped out of it. Women are so good and loving. It’s really a shame we have to hold that beautiful part of ourselves back because of the games they play.

I'm seriously considering this. Could you share the places your clinic recommended? PM is fine. Good luck!

Awareness is so important and I am on that road (partially due to this community). Mostly struggling with the Hurtlocker and Scarcity Mindset varieties at this stage in my life. Like you, I just recently realized I need a gratitude journaling practice. Thank you! Good luck on your journey.

All of them resonated, help. (Also this is brilliant, thank you.)

Right? Even with friends, unless what we ordered was DRAMATICALLY different, we just split it straight down the middle. This guy is a mess.

Womens sizes are so confusing. I'm your exact height/weight (or I was, pandemic stress has me down to 102) and I wear a 0. So strange.

The first date should be dinner not coffee but you're new here and handled it well so we'll be nice. Welcome!

Mine does and it was never in question. If I'm going to risk my life to make this person, it's sure as hell getting my name.

Not even just the man's family. My ex took my last name and right before the wedding my OWN FATHER whose name I was continuing told me he thought it felt wrong for the man to change his name. (And the marriage was wrong but the name thing turned out to be a great call.)

The absolute truth. I really need to still be investing in myself and my leveling up journey. Thank you. I will take you up on that if the urge gets too strong but just calling out the oneitis has already helped me move past it.

Oh goddess I needed this. Covid loneliness is getting to me and I developed a big crush on the man I'm talking to. We were set up in February and have just been talking on the phone and video chatting because we're both worried about the virus. We had one in person but socially distanced date and I thought were moving to more but haven't been asked out again since (3 weeks ago). For the amount of contact and depth of connection, I mentally WAY overcommitted. Lately it's felt like he's pulling ba…

I've been hanging on to it for the same reason but I need to throw it out. I'd be embarrassed to show it to a new partner and that's just not my life anymore. Thank you for the nudge.

Awww, that's really quite charming. The guy I'm talking to right now found a very subtle way to work into our first conversation that he was 5'6". I don't care about that at all but I appreciated him trying to tactfully save my time if I did.

I agree 100% but would argue that is still the case for a lot of businessmen. At a certain level up the corporate ladder, it becomes really rare to find an unmarried man whose wife doesn't shoulder the domestic tasks.

OMG that must be a hallmark of dodgy guys. Last one I dated insisted that respect was a construct as well. What? Should have ran the moment he said that & I'll know better next time.

That was the part that struck me too. I'm sure she was harassed. And the kicker is he SHOULD be offering financial support if he wants her to quit her job to make him comfortable.
