I agree that most women do not like assholes. I disagree that men at the top are assholes, or more likely to be assholes. The truth is that top men that are not assholes and want relationships are more likely to find one and get taken off the market so at any given time the majority of single "top" men are single for a reason. Men also have the expectation to approach so the top 30% of women in physical attractiveness can probably land a top 10% man for just a night. But if those women then empl…

If you look at num_partners in the 2010 Online College Social Life Survey (note: pre dating app era so it's probably WAY worse nowadays), women have higher percentage representations at every lower body count number bin all the way up through 7 (including 0). 87.25% of women were in the 0-7 range compared to 81.94% of men. In the 8+ count bins this trend reverses and you have 12.76% of women compared to 18% of men. In the highest category of 21+ body count you have 4.27% of men compared to 1.69%…

There are tons of guys out there that aren't into conventionally attractive "fresh n fit" girls, women just tend to avoid those guys because they are less conventional and less conventionally attractive. For example, look up female biphobia in men. If I'm a woman, I would simply just not be biphobic and be open to giving chances to guys that were less conventional, and are more likely to have less conventional standards. Easy mode.

I’m 31 and married. I’m alt straight so I’m not into the idea of dominating skinny, youthful 18 year olds. I like more mature, dominant women like my wife. She is also alt straight and thinks tall, confident, masculine guys are annoying and overrated.

Easy mode activated! I would diet and exercise to just not be fat and immediately be top 20% in physical attractiveness for women. I would avoid top 20% men by physical attractiveness and go for the 40-80% sweet spot, as a lot of those men are top 25% for looks+qualities and are still single because they get overlooked by other women. I would try to date experientially, not evaluatively, focusing on having fun and connection on dates rather than interviewing. I would go on dates to public places…

Super ultra attractive young women get a lot of attention and often get knocked up by some rich dude where they don't have to work and have a lot of time and money to workout and eat healthy. Go to a resort in the Caribbean somewhere and you'll see tons of them. A lot of times they are off limits but guys can still dream about them and it gets reflected in their porn habits.

You're pre-screening guys in a shallow manner based on a couple pics and a couple sentences and then hoping for quality. You need to take it easy on the pre-screen and look for quality in a less shallow setting like on an actual date. It's a dating app, not a talking app. Go on dates with guys that want to go on dates with you. You can now select based off reciprocal interest in addition to much less shallow things that you discern on the dates. Even if their profile seems average or boring, you…

Women tend to have astronomically high standards for casual sex whereas my threshold for attractiveness is pretty reasonable and attainable for women. Many women who focus reasonably on health, diet, and fitness will meet them. So, I would find both a baddie and future potential wifey sexually attractive and wouldn’t mind having casual sex with either. However, if I had super attractive women that I could never lock down in a million years want to have sex with me, I wouldn’t say no. If it goes …

It's strategic pluralism. Women evaluate men based on whether they are reliable long term providers, and whether they contain high quality genes. Women, in general, only feel strong, instant sexual attraction (similar to men) for extremely attractive men with high quality genes. However, women can also become attracted to men over time (demisexuality). Since sex is risky for women, this encourages women to make sure it's worth it if it's fast and furious, or to make sure there's more long term i…

Don't owe to someone? Sure. But you at least owe it to yourself to have rational and reasonable enough standards to be able to explain them.

I think a lot of people misunderstand leagues. In American football you might have a continuous spectrum of talent with no clear line distinguishing a “league”. However, there are limited slots in the NFL so the best tryout and get in to the NFL and the others go to UFL and other leagues. In dating there is also a continuous spectrum of desirability with no clear line distinguishing some league. However, women tend to have a lot of mathematically impossible preferences e.g. more than 16% of wome…

Dating apps have a much higher percentage of single-for-a-reason individuals because people lacking those reasons are more likely to find someone and get off, while single-for-a-reason people remain behind. This is exacerbated for more desirable profiles because they get more attention and shouldn't have too much trouble finding what they're looking for and uninstalling, unless of course there's some reason why they're still around... This is why women, despite having seemingly endless options, …

Unfortunately lots of women are fat too and being overweight tends to look better on men than on women. If you look up the study “Mate Preferences and Matching Outcomes in Online Dating”, the optimal BMI for men was 27 (overweight) while for women it was 17 (underweight). So higher modern weights actually result in a larger pool of men in women’s ideal male weight range than vice versa. Desirably fit guys vastly outnumber desirably fit women. Simply being reasonably fit and social as a guy is, s…

Depends on the context. The example context for your link was clothing. In that context I definitely want clear communication from my gf. My gf, however wouldn’t even like the comment “that dress makes your ass look fat” which is a COMPLIMENT. But if we’re trying on clothes and she randomly drops some out of pocket “direct truth” like “no matter what you wear you’re still going to look medium ugly” I’d be like ummmm what?

A sad inevitability of dating is that desirability often trades off with reciprocated interest. More desirable women have more options, more competition, and require more effort to court. It may appear that guys treat women that are into them "worse" but that's because 99% of the time those women are less desirable. The other 1% of the time leads to LTRs / marriage where, sure, guys should definitely treat their SOs well.

It seems that the true emphasis here is on conception, not the female orgasm. The sin would be having sex for pleasure instead of attempting to conceive.

Again, it depends on the sex. I've had sex with short women that literally want and ask to be degraded in which case, yes, it definitely feels like I am degrading them. However, I've also had sex with short women that hop on top and/or play more of an active role which makes the sex feel more 50/50 and not degrading.

Yes, there's a lot more to it than just penetration alone. That was my main point, I was also just pointing out that height difference can influence perception of how "degrading" sex is. I'd definitely feel much different interacting with a petite 5'1" gal vs a tall athletic volleyball gal. If I wanted to get sexually dominated and degraded by a woman I'd prefer the volleyball gal, not the 5'1" gal. Similarly, if an average height woman at 5'4" wants sex to feel more dominating and degrading, sh…

I feel like the answer to a lot of these is: depends on the sex. A girl could be on top of a guy choking and degrading him while she clam jams his kids out and she's technically "being penetrated", but obviously she's in control and he's being dominated. Add a strapon and turn him 180 degrees and it's still the same dominance/control dynamic but a lot more stigmatized. This is likely because it contrasts with many different conventions like guys are supposed to be dominant, guys are supposed to …

Without the extreme interconnectedness of the digital age, if a woman is at her job, everyone else across those other groups are more out of sight and out of mind. However, add in the digital age and social media and she can now be connected with, and potentially receiving solicitations from, men across all those localized groups AND dating apps all at the same time. It’s also a lot easier to compare men across the groups which may lead to more fixation on easily assessed shallow traits like hei…

A more thorough, modernized, examination of this finding: male selectivity is invariant to group size, while female selectivity is strongly increasing in group size From the study: Fisman, Raymond, et al. Sexual scarcity is what leads to fixation on it. If you want less fixation on sex, it needs to be more plentiful, common, and meaningless for men. It's like water. You don't really think or worry much about water unless you're thirsty because you can easily get it from the tap. However, if the tap suddenly stops and water becomes scarce, you're going to constantly be on the lookout for it. Men fixate on sex because it's scarce so they have to constantly be on the lookout for it.

I see you're able to reason in hypotheticals. Here's one: what if the digital age actually does inflate women's standards to be more unrealistic and delusional? Suppose that men are able and willing to approach women that are "roughly comparably desirable". If you have a 100 men and 100 women, the 50th most desirable woman might get approached by 20 guys #40-60. However, now turn it into 1000 men and 1000 women and now the 500th most desirable woman is getting approached by 200 guys #400-600. In…

The biggest difference is men tend to date more experientially and will still give a chance to a woman they find physically attractive and “feel it out”. Even a fat, high n count, single mother could find guys that are attracted to her and still get chances and opportunities that could lead to something more. Women, on the other hand, tend to date more evaluatively. They struggle to find most men attractive without getting to know them first and often have a laundry list of shallow checkboxes fo…

I mean if I go to a world where the Star-Belly Sneetches claim to be oppressed but 99% of the prisoners are actually Plain-Belly Sneetches, that’s kinda sus. I’m sure there could still be plenty of issues for the Star-Belly Sneetches but clearly society isn’t entirely out to get to them.

Food for thought: if every woman is a slut, would the idea of a slut still exist? More food for thought: there are asymmetrical perceptions of sex due to asymmetrical access to sex. If you eliminate the latter, you eliminate the former.

So yes to equality, no to happiness because it can’t be measured. So how do we know when we’ve actually reached “equality”? Complete gender parity in everything? The gender equality paradox seems to suggest that might be impossible. I’m not trying to say women’s issues don’t exist, it’s just that if we keep blindly advancing women there are two eventualities. First, eventually, if not already, enough women’s issues will be addressed to where there are just as many or more men’s issues. Second, e…

Guess what toppled the antiquated roles/norms? Should feminists not want women's advances to persist? If so, society must reach a point of equilibrium where both men and women are happy, not just women. Also one of the best ways to help young men feel happy, loved, and valued is to actually love and value them rather than just telling them to fuck off and "go to therapy or something".

The future isn't grim for men, it's grim for women. Young, sexually frustrated, purposeless men are ripe for radicalization. If modern feminism doesn't find a way to help young men feel happy, loved, valued members of society with purpose (perhaps as fathers), other non-feminist parties will find a way to give them purpose. And there's a high likelihood that purpose will have roots in conservatism / antifeminism and not be aligned with the best interests of women.

Tale as old as time: Male pejorative gets created. Male pejorative is popularized. Male pejorative gets overused and overgeneralized. Same thing happened with incel and mansplaining. You’re the one that seems close minded and sure of themselves just blindly echoing the status quo. You mention fertility is an evolutionary driver of attraction to height but, believe it or not, there’s a curvilinear relationship between height and reproductive success. Chasing height isn’t really the evolutionary meta and if that was the main factor, women ought to most desire men of average height. Rather, a major component of women’s height fixation is socialized. Women grow up surrounded wit…

You can tack on physical traits of small, weak, and petite onto the first one and behavioral traits of ambitious, confident, dominant onto the second one. Also "provider" relates to some behavioral traits as well. The physical and behavioral traits relate to each other and stem from the same antiquated valuations that are being shifted for women but not as much for men.

Over most of the 20th century, men had antiquated ideals for women to be obedient housewives. Women did not just throw up their hands and say men are entitled to whatever they want. Well a great example of some "nonphysical standards" that I mentioned being "totally fine" would be to not date a guy that does drugs. As you say, you'd be better off finding a 6/10 that checks all the right boxes. Also you gotta think about what you mean to the other person. I feel like this question is tough because women's nonphysical standards tend to be totally fine, the problem is usually when they only give chances to top percentage men e.g. tall guys. Sexlessness, loneliness, increasing age of first marriage, and declining birthrates are all correlated modern trends so discussion of any one like declining birthrates almost always "has something to do with or is in a context of" the others. This is called choice feminism which is condemned by feminists but really the vast majority of modern feminism is now just choice feminism. The reason this is a failure of feminism is because modern feminism often masquerades as a gender equality movement and alleges having benefits for men for men too, some of those being what you mention here. I used to put in so much effort into reading and citing studies to support my arguments but you can always find some way to critique and dismiss them. For example send me literally any study on dating behaviors and I can argue people act differently when being observed, and it’s unethical to conduct experiments on people without consent. Almost any young woman that’s not fat can walk to the nearest bar in pajamas and start getting courted. So if you’re super self sufficient and don’t need anything from a guy, it’s going to feel like you’ll just leave at any sign of trouble or imperfection. High attaining women are attractive. Just gotta make sure some of the motivation and discipline goes to health and fitness and stay humble. The biggest issue with attractive high attaining women in my experience tends to be the humble part in particular. This take is just another flavor of male agency bias and blaming everything on men but it takes two to tango. A theory for the gap in casual sex interest points to women having higher sexual inhibitions. Women with high inhibitions won't get turned on as easily by random people which would explain why "how a man interacts" is important because it helps to lower the inhibitions. However, there are lot of ways she can also lower these herself such as discouraging male threat profiling or rather th…

I mean I guess in the literal sense calling men's sexuality animalistic is technically "dehumanizing". However, I wouldn't say it feels that dehumanizing, more like just experiencing sexism. For comparison, having women view you with contempt as subhuman and unworthy of consideration simply because you're short or average height most definitely feels very dehumanizing.

There’s no correlation between attractiveness and husbandly/fatherly traits. However, a man that is (A) attractive, (B) wants a relationship, and (C) is a good husband/father will get taken off the market more easily than a man who is not attractive, is an asshole, or does not want a relationship. This leaves behind a lot of attractive single men that are not fatherly, or don’t want relationships. It ultimately boils down to the nature vs nurture debate. This opinion leans nature i.e. women are biologically inclined to be super selective and can’t help it. That may very well be so. However, feminism tends to lean VERY heavily pro nurture and often argues socialization influences things. Sadly, according to NIH data, 27.5% of women are overweight and 41.9% are obese. So those top 30-40% of women you mentioned are literally and sadly just the non-fat women. Men's obesity is also bad - 34.1% overweight and 43% obese. However, I think a lot of guys tend to look better with more weight. A l…

You seem to associate "dating down" as dating someone with less ambition and success. I think a lot of guys already do indirectly select for this because ambition and success correlates with discipline, impulse control, and motivation, and those qualities correlate with fitness, health, and looking more attractive. If a woman is ambitious but not disciplined or motivated, she's not as likely to be successful nor as likely to look fit and healthy. If she can't even take care of herself, how is sh…

You agree**. What you’re saying is exactly what I mean by pathologize vs normalize. As you say, there are popular campaigns against men’s standards such as body positivity for fat women. But if you try to push body positivity for something like height suddenly the narrative shifts. This is because men’s standards for thin women get pathologized but women’s standards for tall men get normalized.

Option 2 is awesome. Casual weekly sex with a non-committal 10/10 while I can keep looking for a non prude version of option 1.

I think the digital age has lots of effects on both men and women but the biggest issue is that effects on men’s standards are more likely to be pathologized but effects on women’s standards are just downplayed and normalized as the new status quo. “Women just aren’t oppressed anymore”.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/25 03:53 PM

Don’t forget the “it’s impossible to replicate” part. You can’t ethically make a study that observes women selecting in an environment where they don’t know or feel like they are being observed and would feel comfortable being as brutally selective as they want to be. Also the first link is MIT technology review, not some random news site. Also they link the study at the bottom: http://arxiv.org/abs/1607.01952
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/25 11:33 PM

Men have the expectation of agency and tend to approach women. The only thing you know about a random woman to approach is her looks, so guys will just go for any woman above a looks threshold which may include women “out of their league” but you never know. Guys also tend to have higher standards for life than for a night, so many guys actually approach women below their long term league open to sex/fun but wouldn’t commit to them. Any port in a storm. However, if you inundate a 5/10 woman with…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/25 11:28 PM

It’s impossible to fully replicate because it relies on observing women selecting in an environment in which they don’t know they are being observed, nor feel observed, which is unethical for a formal study. When women feel observed or judged they will select differently than on apps or with strangers IRL. Also dating apps don’t publicize anonymized data because they’re smart businesses that don’t want their primary paying demographic to lose hope and quit. There are other studies like this one …

Bad? I’m saying one’s wife is not just a 24/7 provider of sex and it’s quite healthy and normal to relieve yourself through other means. Are you saying the opposite? Also guys do seek and need intimate connection so when guys are more intimacy starved they prefer the examples OP mentioned. However, guys can also have sex without emotional connection.

A lot of your emotional sex examples are from lonely single guys specifically seeking emotional connection being generalized and applied to all men. If you look specifically at guys who are in a relationship and have good emotional connection, I think you’ll find many can and do unemotionally jerk off to random hot women on the internet simply because it’s unrealistic to expect your SO to be ready to rock n roll every time you’re horny. As you say, she’s not a tissue. Your bond is deeper than ju…

Women often calibrate their expectations of how hot their life partner should be based on the upper distribution of men giving them attention… many of whom only have short term interest and are out of her league and have better long term options that just aren’t around or available at the moment. Men have vastly different standards for a lay vs for life so men will entertain less desirable women for something casual and short term. When men want women to realize this, it’s not wanting women to s…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/09/25 09:05 PM

It’s not that attractive correlates with “bad”. Attractive and “good” correlates more with “taken”. Women desire men who are both attractive and good but often filter for attractiveness first and then search for good. So, it’s entirely possible for women set the initial filter too high such that any man who is both attractive and good has other better options, the maximum balance of attractive and good was already filtered out, so all she encounters is bad men or men that aren’t into her.

Many IRL women cycle on and off dating apps. Some IRL women may just never need dating apps as they get plenty of attention IRL. As far as differences go, people who are “single for a reason” are, unsurprisingly, more likely to be single, and there’s a larger percentage of those people active in the single population and on dating apps. For dating app women, the most popular “single for a reason” reason tends to be toxic, unrealistic, or inflated standards for men that prevent them from meeting …

If you try to flirt with multiple people everyone sees that too. It’s the extent of pushoverness that is extreme, not the situations. Just because a guy is a simp for his SO doesn’t automatically mean he’s that way for everyone in every aspect of his life.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/25 07:30 PM
2

Hmm if we’re only talking about the most extreme case here then sure. But I think what’s more common in reality is that the “nice guys” passed up by women for being more passive or agreeable aren’t that way to an extreme, and being with them could indeed be quite nice depending on the relationship dynamic.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/25 07:14 PM

If you take it to that much of an extreme, anything can destroy a marriage. Like suppose some dude is too into hiking... How is their marriage going to survive when hiking comes above the relationship? Who is going to take care of the household when he's out hiking all the time? Who will provide if he quits his job and just hikes all the time!? Just because a guy is more passive and/or agreeable doesn't mean he's that way to an extreme in every aspect of life.

I feel like this is sort of a "thinking with your dick" situation but for women. The best life long partner for a woman isn't always a tall, dominant, competitive, and/or assertive guy. A lot of women may benefit from guys that are more passive, agreeable, and open-minded, especially if those women aren't a pushover themselves. Passive/submissive guys are going to be WAY easier to live with after all the sex butterflies die down than with some obstinate chad that wants everything his way.

Rejection feels "worse" if you're too picky. It's like devoting an hour to drive to the grocery store, carefully picking out the best looking apple, driving all the way back, and then finally trying your apple only to discover its rotten on the inside. You think "ugggh I wasted all that time for this". Meanwhile, another person just goes to the grocery store, picks out a few apples, and ends up being pleasantly surprised when they find one they really like.

Men and women have complete legal equality nowadays in western countries. The only remaining issues are statistical inequalities stemming from sociocultural beliefs or biology-specific issues like abortion. Dating is a market that varies by location and age and AI isn't going to generalize well across all dating localities and ages. The best way to do this right now is through a localized page rank approach. Within some locality and age group, measure inbound and outbound likes/messages for people on something like a dating app. People who receive more likes/messages are ranked higher, and the likes/messages they give out are also worth more. This will appraise one's market value and you can also c…

The media can also create unhealthy and unrealistic standards of what real relationships actually look like. Likelihood of being ghosted is, in general, more about how attractive you are relative to your hookup’s other options. If an attractive woman hooks up with a guy that’s used to hooking up with a lot of attractive women, she’s more likely to seem “average” to him, not high value.

The more attractive the woman, the more willing I am to go above and beyond.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/25 12:52 AM

No, it's in female nature to find a guy that is VERY attractive to fuck, and not give a shit about her own pleasure because the act of having sex with that attractive of man is pleasurable enough even without an orgasm.

Just an example analogy but Reddit‘s content policy doesn’t prohibit sexism, it prohibits “hate” against “marginalized or vulnerable groups” which can be interpreted to exclude men. One’s experiences include seeing other experiences and asymmetry. From a heteronormative perspective, people tend to grow up seeing sex easy for women to get so it’s perceived as more of an indulgence, while sex is harder for men to get so it’s seen as more of a rarity/luxury or high status signal. A bi man will grow up seeing a lot of straight people and many instances of the asymmetry. Inversely, however, not a lot of people see and experience a ton of bi men getting tons of sex. Straight 31M engaged. You’ll often see me on here encouraging women to have more realistic physical standards. It comes from the expectation of agency placed on men and aspirational pursuit. Both men and women will approach potential mates that are comparable or more desirable. Both men and women have a "swamp" of opportunities with less desirable mates. However, men don't get approached by those less desirable mates, nor do men approach those less desirable mates. I think misandry can play a factor in defining and influencing what is 'comparable' though.

Women have zero investment in gestation, birth, or child rearing as well if they don’t have sex, hence the evolutionary link with selectivity. I don’t know if you’ve been living under a rock for the last hundred thousand years but quite a lot has changed.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/25 03:42 AM

Right the evolution worked exactly as it should for ancient women that had a higher chance of incurring those risks. However now there’s contraceptives, birth control, Plan B, and abortion. Modern women have a much lower risk compared to ancient women of getting pregnant but still have the vestigial high selectivity, hence the evolutionary mismatch.

As a woman you pretty much just have to not be fat and there will be a lot of men that find you attractive. Even if you’re fat there are STILL a lot of men that are into that lol. Men’s physical attraction isn’t as bad of an evolutionary mismatch as women’s because guys tend to be physically attracted to a lot of women and have an easier time choosing a woman that is both a good choice and attractive (provided she actually likes him back).

Right but when women are more free to pursue what they want in a partner, those wants are more likely to stem from existing, rampant, antiquated ideals like the protector-provider norm. You can’t just encourage women to choose what they want (choice feminism), you also need to encourage those choices to actually align with feminist ideals.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/25 09:10 PM

Existing choices minus protector-provider influenced valuations like height, status, income. The most successful man in dating, in general, would most likely be of average height (because no correlation), average attainment (because no correlation), healthy and fit but not roided up, have attractive facial features (nothing to do with protector-provider), and have a lot of caretaker qualities (equal caretaker).

Feminism doesn’t directly expect men to be breadwinners and protectors, but by devoting a ton of energy to empowering women’s choice and not as much energy to updating and modernizing those choices, this effectively empowers women’s choices founded on existing, antiquated, ideals like protector-provider. Modern feminism is just choice feminism and is incapable of effecting any change on women that counteracts women’s choices, even if those choices are based on antiquated ideals.

I’ve seen research saying that men are more likely than women to seek divorce if their partner becomes disabled. I’ve also seen research that women are more likely than men to seek divorce when their partner loses their job. So I think what you say is true for continuation of love, men and women have different conditions. However, when it comes to falling in love, I think men in general have less conditions. While men value attractiveness, they also tend to find a lot of women attractive. There’…

Men tie their self-worth to women's perceptions because they see successful men also having a lot of success with women and associate the two together. It is ultimately up to women to update and modernize their standards to stop valuing men by antiquated ideals.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/25 04:07 PM

Well according to behavioral psychologist and dating coach Logan Ury only 11% of couples experience love at first sight. Tons of women also give personal accounts of falling in love with men they weren’t initially attracted to. In the words of comedian Leslie Liao joking about being a straight woman “I’m attracted to men but I don’t find them attractive”. So, I think a major modern dating disconnect comes from women using only that 11% initial physical attractiveness and spark to filter guys.

Most men already tend to have fairly low and attainable initial physical standards. I’m saying that women have a logical reason to lower their physical standards a little bit due to the requirement of additional effort for sexual pleasure. Women can’t just connect with a comparably desirable guy and expect equal sexual effort, they need a little more sexual effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/23 03:40 PM

You’re analogizing men pursuing ‘ugly’ women but men are not the ones requiring more sexual effort to please. Also, you immediately equating what I’m saying to women pursuing ‘ugly’ men is a perfect example of how women get socially discouraged. Saying stuff like that makes women feel bad if the guy they’re talking to isn’t some 6’4” patriarchal stud. What women need is encouragement to talk to more physically average guys to afford more opportunity to discover quality and sexual effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/23 03:11 PM

Au contraire, I want women to enjoy sex. Most women don’t get off from the most basic natural form of sex required for conception: vaginal intercourse. Thus, women inherently require more effort to sexually please which presents an inherent asymmetry to relationships. Who do you think is more willing to put in effort to sexually pleasing a woman: a guy with tons of options, or a guy with less options? A dominant guy, or a submissive guy? The orgasm gap today comes from women being socially disco…

To me that kind of sounds like “I only interact with/date top percentile men syndrome”. Most guys don’t have access to casual sex at all. And speaking from experience, I was super into casual sex until I fell for a FWB that cut me off and that shit hurts. Finally getting access to casual sex helped mature my interests and figure out what I want in a woman. In my opinion, if it seems like guys don’t want to settle down it’s probably because women make it too hard for them to explore and mature.

Tbh I feel like the problem is feminism has morally demonized men so much that you can just casually mention rounding men up into camps and force castrating them on Reddit without a worry in the world. Why don’t we just apply feminist principles to women? Socially encourage women to stop valuing guys for antiquated protector-provider traits and value things like caretaking more (not just in addition to protector-provider qualities). And stop letting women’s supremacists and misandrists demonize …

Have you ever heard of the loneliness epidemic? It’s related to that. There’s lots of research on the effect of loneliness on life expectancy: Loneliness has been estimated to shorten a person’s life by 15 years, equivalent in impact to being obese or smoking 15 cigarettes per day The study in my earlier comment hints that this may be why parents live longer than childless adults. Correlation does not prove causation so it may be the reason just as how not having kids may increase your happiness…

Does the research control for choice? I hypothesize that there are significantly more parents by accident than childfree by accident and it’s the choice that influences happiness. Research also indicates Having children is associated with increased longevity, particularly in an absolute sense in old age. That the association increased with parents' age and was somewhat stronger for the non-married may suggest that social support is a possible explanation. So if older parents are so unhappy, why …

Education and job start to matter once you pass men’s bare minimum physical attractiveness threshold which for a lot of men is just don’t be overweight. Also, if you give a guy lots of attractive options he’ll focus on other things like education, job, etc. Unfortunately, since women are so goddamn picky, men have to constantly fixate on scavenging for women willing to actually give them a chance who meet their bare minimum threshold of attractiveness.

Right but women can’t date every man on earth. They have to employ some strategy to cut down options to manageable levels, and many women employ similar strategies like filtering based on height that result in guys like my ex roommate receiving a disproportionate amount of attention. There’s nothing wrong with filtering based on shallow qualities. Everyone does it. However, there are two inevitable truths in modern dating: (1) physical attractiveness has little to do with quality and (2) high qu…

Using history against modern men is rather over-sighted. It’s an amorphous concept of injury ageless in its reach into the past. History shouldn’t be used as a weapon of shame and oppression against boys in the present who had absolutely nothing to do with it. Boys today need to be empowered just as much as girls and I bet the growing gender educational divide is a direct result of our inability to realize it’s not 1970 anymore.

Are you defining average by number of sexual partners? I lost my virginity to a bridge troll just to get it out of the way. Number of sexual partners isn’t a good measure of women’s standards or guy’s perception of averageness.

I mean I grew up in an era where the top of the class was almost all women. Many women got scholarships devoted exclusively to women. The women went to college, met the provider husband of their dreams, and then happily and willingly accepted more flexible, easy, lower-paying jobs to spend more time with their kids to become another statistic in the gender pay gap. And, the whole time they were being painted as victims and me as an oppressor because I was male. Sooooo yea I’m 100% team weaponize…

In terms of physical desirability he was in the top 10% of men but for all-inclusive desirability he was much more average. Many women select based on the former and are surprised to discover a lack of the latter. Men do that too actually but I mean men’s initial selectivity tends to be much more lenient in general which affords more opportunity for discovery of non-shallow quality and chemistry.

I’ve definitely seen that sentiment from men as well. I think in the past it came from religion and misogyny. However, I think the stigma persists even in less religious and less misogynistic progressive men because of the asymmetry. Women and men face different standards of judgement for having casual sex because they face differing levels of access to casual sex. As long as that asymmetry exists, so too will the asymmetrical stigma.

Men tend to be more willing than women to have sex with a stranger and it’s not just a matter of safety issues, pregnancy concerns, stigma, disease avoidance, or self-control. However, that’s willingness, not preference. Just because I would be down to have sex with an extremely attractive random woman doesn’t mean that’s what I want long term. Do you go to college? Based on answers so far I think being 19 could be a part of it. You haven’t had that much time yet to be approached. Also, if you look young and/or are with younger siblings guys might not want to accidentally hit on someone under 18. In college however I think guys feel more comfortable knowing you’re over 18. Also, guys might not want to approach you when you’re in a group, if you’re wearing AirPods, or if walk like you’re training for the power walking Olympics.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/23 01:19 AM

If so, what do you think your response would be to that? When you’re out, how often are you alone or with friends? If friends, briefly describe your friend group. Disliking casual sex isn't the same thing as pathologizing men and male sexual desire. Having realistic standards isn't the same thing as letting some gross person "fuck your body". You clearly have no idea what it's like to be a man and absolutely no clue how to actually help and encourage men to mature in dating.

It's not offensive nor weird to dislike casual sex. I feel like most guys that actually want casual sex don't yet know what they're asking for. Unlike many guys, I was fortunate enough to get a few opportunities where a random attractive woman off Tinder would come fuck my body. However, I discovered that actually having some chemistry was 100X better. I was able to mature past an obsession for getting casual hookups by having the opportunity to actually experience them a few times.

Your use of "fuck my body" shows you clearly pathologize sex lol. You view sex as an act where men use women's bodies which, hilariously, is founded in internalized misogyny and homophobia. No one is "lesser" just because they fulfill a role in which they are penetrated.

I’ve seen that analogy a lot except with swamp instead of ocean. Women have plenty of “potable water” around, it’s just not absolutely pristine and perfect. A better analogy for women would be someone that grew up drinking luxury water brands slightly parched in a Walmart. Normal water is perfectly fine but their standards are abnormally high and they just don’t realize it.

There’s a tendency for women to be perceived as victims and men as perpetrators and it plays into gender politics. Hypo/hyper agency bias. So, I think it's important to point out when men are impacted by things too like being demonized for liking sports.

It comes from women’s frustration of the effects of feminism. I’m not sure what women were expecting but, after attempting to eliminate the need for men in society and showering men with hate, guilt, and shame for decades, a lot of men are unsurprisingly unmotivated. Men need to be empowered too. Empowered into new positive models of masculinity and having an actual place in society beyond being pathologized for their biology and expected to work to provide welfare for society as a substitute hu…

So why does the birth rate go down the more developed a country becomes? As women experience a net increase in quality of life, healthcare, antibiotics, food availability, etc., there is a corresponding net decrease in childbirths. There's a little bit of a double standard when it comes to gender roles nowadays. A man wanting a submissive, feminine woman is likely to be perceived as misogynistic, while a woman wanting a dominant, masculine man is more likely to be empowered as a preference. Thus, I think women tend to care more about gender roles. For example, when it comes to men's "protector-provider" role, the protector part can still be seen clear as day through height preference.
