So I’m a software developer and was hired a couple years back to build an app that did exactly this. It’s much more difficult to get something like this to work than you’d think. There’s so many legal problems around defamation and slander. We saw a tendency for people to outright lie on the app in an attempt to get revenge on their exes or try to keep them from finding someone new. We had a very involved process for people to prove that the information being posted about them was false, and ple…

Yup. I met a group of white dudes who travelled through Asia for very obvious festishy reasons. I’ve heard it called “sex tourism” which is really gross because it classifies these women as like a tourist attraction when in reality they’re human beings who are likely in desperate situations.

I’m so glad I watched this, it really helped me understand this issue. I’ve noticed this on TikTok too and felt really weird about it but didn’t know how to put it to words. We all know what it feels like to be reduced to a sexual object or a collection of body parts. It’s gross to celebrate that behavior just because they’re doing it to black women under the (totally transparent) guise of empowerment and support. And I liked her point about it being predatory because black women go through that…

I just want to say that this is not always the safest plan. I was very disrespectfully catcalled while running (in the middle of the day) and I was disrespectful back. These 4 large men then verbally harassed me and chased me for 6 blocks. I know that if it had been dark or deserted they would have assaulted me. As much as it sucks, prioritize your safety.

The mind-numbing dribble that comes out of OUR mouths??? Are they really so dense that they don’t see how we deal with the exact same thing? How many boring af conversations with men have I suffered through in the name of politeness? I can’t even count.

This is textbook abuse. I guarantee this isn’t the most severe of his behaviors.

Yup. I’m married and so glad I didn’t have his kids. It’s been a nightmare. And I’ve seen some awful things happen to my girlfriends now that I’m in the “everyone is having babies” stage of my life. Their bodies are dramatically changed and traumatized, and the recovery is long af. They look beautiful so not saying that having babies ruins you, but they also have uniquely horrible problems, such as being pressured to have sex too soon after being torn open by a baby. Or being pressured to give b…

Don’t be sorry, I loved your rant. And you know, I think you actually hit the nail on the head in that last part. She’s looking for her son, not your husband. It sounds selfish and so frustrating, not to mention degrading. Also, I’m 30. I was given those same speeches by women all through my 20s. My mom repeatedly begged me to freeze my eggs because I’m getting “old”. They treat us like we have an expiration date or something. The hilarious part is that I’m actually better looking now than ever,…

Yikes, that’s weird. My mom reserves this behavior for my brother only, she would never encourage me to date a man who isn’t my match financially, educationally, etc. I wish I could just shake these women and scream “stop filling the world with man-children!”

I love how he condescendingly talks about “9s” and “10s” as if he’s deserving of any woman of quality. He is average looking, with a smarmy af facial expression and misogyny that you can smell across the room. He’s the one who isn’t boyfriend material. I sincerely hope to see world one day where men like this are treated like the lepers they are.

Part of me hates coming onto this subreddit because this stuff is so triggering for me. But this is particularly depraved. Intentionally giving your partner chemical burns on her most sensitive area so that you can justifiably pressure her into oral sex while she recovers from your covert abuse? Can you imagine what men would say if we came up with a method of secretly sticking chemicals up their pee holes so they would eat us out?

It’s crazy, every man I’ve ever been with has done this. In theory it seems like it should feel flattering, but in reality it’s just annoying. With my husband I couldn’t do anything in the house without being interfered with. When cooking he stops me every time I walk across the kitchen to grab my ass or pin my arms to my sides with a hug. Cute if it’s once in a great while, but multiple times every time I’m cooking??? It just makes chores take longer. Doing dishes, he comes up behind me and gra…

Eerie. My mom uses that same argument to me all the time. “Well proctectinidentity, you know that boys mature slower than girls, so it’s natural”. She still uses that argument and my counter is this: Why do boys mature slower? Could it be that they’re parented differently than their sisters? Could your excessive coddling be infantilizing him? And when is this argument no longer relevant? Because I was more “mature” at 21 than he is at 31. So you’re saying that men are 10+ years behind women deve…

I think this is a piece of it in many cases. There are also a ton of good women who try to raise good men but society ruins them anyway, so I just want to make sure that the blame for misogyny isn’t being placed on women. That being said, I have a lot of emotional turmoil around my little brother. I honestly don’t like him or respect him as a person because he is the most entitled, bratty, self-indulgent man-child I am forced to have in my life. He’s 31, so no excuses for his blatant misogyny. H…

I like this. I agree. I don’t want to rate myself, I don’t want to rate men. Leagues and numbers and weird names (chad, becky, karen) are all part of the problem. Attraction is much more complicated than that anyway.

If he does that means that he goes to see them after work 2-3 (which actually means 3) times per week and then comes home (drunk) late at night when all the chores and childcare are done. Then all weekend too. Guess he spends 2 evenings per week with his family, most likely doing nothing that requires effort because he’s recovering from the partying. But he’ll say he’s tired from work so she can’t complain.

Why do so many of them have bad smelling feet??? I’ve always wondered this. I seriously don’t know a single woman with this problem, and if my feet started to smell I would do something immediately. I also know plenty of guys who don’t smell bad, so I have to believe it’s preventable

I feel you sis. I’m tired just thinking about it. I had to check people in my life about their attitudes toward my abuse so many times. Especially our male friends. They would say things along the lines of “he’s trying so hard to be a better man for you” (in your case I’m sure they say “for your child”) “you should try to forgive him” or “I hope you can work it out”. In response I would just look them dead in the face and say “so you’re saying I should be compassionate to this man who cheated on…

Look, a lot of people are already raising concerns about your friend but I just want to add this: I was abused and cheated on by my husband. My friends would NEVER suggest I tie myself to him in any way now that I’m out. Especially not financially. They would be telling me to keep my contact with him as minimal as possible. This isn’t a question of diplomacy.

Seriously, the reason I know they do that is because they’ve done it in front of me so many times. The crazy thing is that they seem to genuinely think that they came up with it on their own, and then you have to rehash the entire conversation to prove that it was, in fact, your idea. As a woman in stem, please kill me now.

I love this post so much. It puts into words something I’ve noticed for a long time. Women are generally so much better looking. Average man is just not in the same league as average woman. I see it all around me every day. And that’s just looks. Everything else you said about quality is true too. Even intelligent guys with good jobs tend to be just awful. So contrarian. They automatically assume everything you say is wrong. And if you decide to exhaust yourself by proving your point, they will …

My abusive husband was raised a devout Christian. He was raised by his pastor step-father who literally preached the word of god while abusing his wife for years behind closed doors. Then he found a younger woman, had a long affair, and left his wife and my husband behind. And my husband grew up to be abusive to me. It sounds like you’re doing religion right. But I’ve noticed that some people (almost exclusively men) see religion as another means to control people and exert authority. People wit…

I was in an abusive marriage for years. My best friend was what got me through it and part of what gave me the strength to leave. Her consistent perspective was critical to me seeing my own situation clearly. Like I would be all happy and proud of him for doing something totally normal, and she would remind me that you don’t celebrate someone for acting with baseline human decency. And her refusal to forgive him or trust him helped me see how serious his behavior really was. She went through man…

Years ago when all this fetishy stuff started to become talked about more in the mainstream, I tried to be open-minded and understand it. After being in an abusive marriage and regaining my self-respect I see this “fetish” for what it is, a desire to degrade me. I am not a prude, and I’m not vanilla. I’m happy to try new things if it’s coming from a place of mutual respect. But these fantasies that are built around degrading each other disturb me. If you’re into that then there’s very likely som…

Not surprised that men don’t like to hear this, but it’s the truth. Giving generously makes me happy, so I do it for my best friend instead because she appreciates and reciprocates. Men have always made me feel like giving generously to them is nice and appreciated, but it’s also expected so it’s not that special. Gross.

I am very annoyed by this “poor me” attitude from men on reddit. In my experience, men are happy to talk all day about how amazing they are and rarely interested in the other person. They give compliments when they want something. The women I talk to offer me compliments very frequently and expect nothing in return. They ask questions about me and listen to what I’m saying. I know, nOt AlL mEN, but like, most.
