I would like to say that a house only appears to be worth it if you pay it off in 10-13 year range. Beyond that you're paying a lot more money in interest on top of higher repayments i.e. total cost of living is actually higher. It makes sense to have a big pension pot then get a mortgage. The housing situation doesn't compare to compound interest.
