This could be done in the USA, first need to create a religion (or use one that exists) apply for tax exemption, buy lots of acres, claim religious exemptions from social programs like school and all that. Pretty much exactly what the Morman church is in Utah, and the Amish communities in PA. I would do this, but I do not have the capital to set this up.

Any place I should stay away? Texas land is cheap in low populated places. Plenty of hunting and outdoor stuff to do. GA sounds like another place too, just haven't really been outside of Atlanta though.
