Insight. Some Redpill tools work for your application, some don't. I find that the famous 10 second kiss and a few of Athol Kay's moves in MMSLP are just plain backfiring on me. Without writing a whole thesis on it, the long and short of it is about boundary violations. I am going to side with the girls on this aspect regarding grabbing, pawing and groping. It is not working for me. I am getting better results when I give my wife her space and let her come to me. I observed that when I give her …

Fair, and as you say, it doesn't really change the prescription either way. The answers are the same: be attractive, don't be unattractive, frame, OI, etc. I really appreciated reading that though, as an example of how a marriage can work, and work well, by thoughtfully applying these principles—even in circumstances that would seem bleak to many. (Also a good reminder that while AWALT doesn't mean "exactly" like that, the plan remains the same.)

To avoid shake, I'd also pick up a cheap (wired) remote shutter release. You can use the shutter delay function instead, but I like having a remote to keep control over when to take a shot.

Understood—same actions, different mindset. One might be productive, the other is clearly not. Great analogy with the minigolf. Thank you—something for me to keep in mind for sure.

you should be outside of the house doing the type of things you listed just because your cool active guy who is busy. 100% true, and this remains a weak spot. Improving, but still weak. I'm out of the house and active doing fun shit a lot more now than 3-4 months ago, but "a lot more" is relative when starting from a baseline of "boring beta plowhorse who almost never leaves the house for fun shit of his own." I've started to see a real shift already from choosing to leave after some (not all) r…

OYS #8 38 y.o. drunk captain; wife also 38; together for 19, married for 12; two boys, 7 & 8. Got here from DB in Apr. 2017, but didn’t really start doing the work until spring 2018. Holy shit, /u/mindfulbutgutless — thank you. Huge improvement. First attempt at this, I did sets of three chin-ups, from a full hang. First 4-5 sets were seriously painful, and then it just...stopped hurting. Like fucking magic. Did 15 sets. Next day, it was still a bit sore/tender, but way less than before. I'll absolutely be keeping at this. Incredible.

It is supposed to. it is much better described in this link. https://youtu.be/GfPyDuFgmm4 Well, I'll be damned. Thanks for taking the time to address this a second time...should have dug into your first comment more deeply. Just watched the video three times. Going to the gym shortly to do a fuckload of painful sets of chins. I can't help but be skeptical...but have learned to ignore any skepticism if Rip is the source.

OYS #7 38, Drunk Captain. Wife is 38. Together for 19, married for 12. Two boys, 7 & 8. Got here from DB. Height: 6’1” Weight: 185 lbs (+0). Bodyfat: ~12% (no change). Lifts: DL: 405 (no change, but hit 405 for a second time, and more easily), SQ: 305 (+0), BP: 205 (no change, but hit 205 for a second time, and more easily), OHP: 135 (+0). Minor tendon issue in my elbow seems to be largely resolved. Thanks /u/mindfulbutgutless for the recommendations/adjustments. One thing I’ve found is that chi…

Brother—thank you for the replies. Very interesting to hear about the changes to how you perceive your wife's dominance/submissiveness. Yet another data point on how they take their lead from us, consciously or not. I'll try to keep this in mind and not mentally box myself in by assuming my wife "is" a certain way just because she acts that way in reaction to how I am now. I hear you on fitness/style being the easy things to fix. I'm in pretty decent shape, dress pretty well, etc, but those thin…

This is the same woman who 2 years ago I was convinced was asexual. This is the same woman who 2 years ago I was afraid to talk dirty to because I didn't want to offend her. This is the same woman who 2 years ago told me she only likes missionary, and complained about using any other positions. This is the same woman who 2 years ago told me that she only liked to have sex with me when I'm super horny (translation: "I want you to cum as fast as possible so I can get this duty sex over with"). Thi…

OYS #6 38, Drunk Captain. Wife also 38. Together for 19, married for 12. Two boys, 7 & 8. Got here from DB. Height: 6’1” Weight: 185 lbs (+0). Bodyfat: ~12% (no change). Lifts: DL: 405 (+30), SQ: 305 (+0), BP: 205 (+10), OHP: 135 (+0). Developed a bit of a tendon issue in one elbow (“golfer’s elbow”), so needed to back off for a bit on anything involving much load with the bicep in flexion (so no pullups, curls, etc) and anything requiring a front rack position (so no cleans, front squats, OHP, …

Thanks—appreciate the perspective. Historically, I've sometimes let a few weeks of coasting turn into a longer period of complacency. That's something I want to avoid, but I think being aware and staying mindful of how I am spending my time/energy will be beneficial. Taking 3-6 months to develop my vision, mission, and plan sounds about right—that takes me to roughly the end of the year, and aligns with the timeline for some of my lifting goals. The key will be to actually do it—to put in the wo…

OYS #5 (last OYS here) 38, Drunk Captain. Wife is 38. Together for 19, married for 12. Two boys, 7 & 8. Got here from DB. Height: 6’1” Weight: 185 lbs (+2). Bodyfat: 8-9% by Navy/calipers, ~12% by mirror estimate (no change). Lifts: DL 375 (+0), SQ 305 (+20), BP 195 (+0), OHP 135 (+10). Current running 5/3/1 Boring But Big. Had a great couple weeks in the gym, culminating in hitting a couple of nice milestones: first 300-lb squat, and first 135-lb overhead press. Fun putting full-size plates on …

Thanks for this. I'm sure you're right that it is butt-hurt, at least to a significant degree. I thought I had mostly found my way past the anger phase, but clearly that is not true. And of course, you are correct: I've only got myself to blame. Bitching about sex (or lack thereof) is pointless—acta non verba.

Are you initiating frequently enough Honestly, no. I'm struggling with gaming her, and with frequent initiation. I don't think it's laziness, so much as....I dunno, being less interested in her, I guess. Whether that's due to to anger towards her, growing awareness of other options, or something else...I can't say. I'm not desperately chasing after sex with her for validation (which I certainly was before I got to MRP), and I'm spending my time and energy on improving myself instead (through lif…

OYS #4 (last OYS here – missed a couple weeks due to travel & work) Age: 38 Height: 6’1” Weight: 183 lbs (up ~3 lbs). **Bodyfat: 8-9% by Navy/calipers, ~12% by mirror estimate (no change). Lifts: DL: 375 (+10), SQ: 285 (no change), BP: 195 (no change), OHP: 125 (no change). Started a fresh 5/3/1 Boring But Big cycle, and will stick with it for at least two full cycles. Wow...yet another J10 comment for the "saved" list. Thank you. The scenario there is scarily accurate for me: anxious SAHM wife, tendency for rock vs. oak response, etc.

Truth...habit for sure. Knowing I need to do things differently is easy; creating and ingraining new habits is not. That's why I'm here to do the work.

OYS #3, last OYS here – about one year into MRP Age: 38 Height: 6’1” Weight: 180 lbs (no change). **Bodyfat: 8-9% by Navy/calipers, ~12% by mirror estimate (no change). Lifts: DL: 365, SQ: 285, BP: 195, OHP: 125 (no change). Four solid lifting sessions this week. Diet: As usual, lots of protein and fresh veggies this week, limited refined carbs. Indulged with a couple beers over the weekend (no alcohol for approx. 3 weeks before that). Fasted once for ~24 hours (Eat Stop Eat). Read: NMMNG x2, MM…

Nope, not really. Generally start with a blank spreadsheet and build it out over time to meet whatever the objectives are for the goals it tracks. My lifting spreadsheet is my most complex by far, with about a dozen tabs, pivot tables, charts, etc—but it's arrived there over the course of a couple years. One tab is for tracking my current 1RM against my short- and long-term goals for each lift (and bodyweight ratio goals for each). Another tab tracks my 1RM history for each, so I can see how I'v…

I use Google Sheets, but with a different spreadsheet for different types of goals/tracking. Trying to combine everything into a single spreadsheet would be chaos. I have one for tracking my lifting (which makes it easy to measure my progress against identified goals), others for tracking "to do" list items to help me own my shit in different areas of life, another for career goals/planning, etc. Works for me because each new spreadsheet is as simple or complex as I want to make it, and doing it…

OYS #2 – about one year into MRP. Last OYS here. Physical Age: 38 Height: 6’1” Weight: 180 lbs. Bodyfat: 8-9% (Navy/calipers); ~12% (mirror). Starting to get some ab definition, but still plenty of work to do. Lifts (no change): DL: 365, SQ: 285, BP: 195, OHP: 125. Consistently lifting 3-4x per week, and adding more “extra” work at home—ab wheel rollouts, pushups, lighter weight “pump” sets and complexes as a complement to heavier barbell work in the gym. Diet remains solid. Lots of protein and …

Only thing I have to mention is "gaming" your wife... you touch on it with your mention of teasing, but treating her like a new girlfriend and amping up the sexual current often reaps reciprocal rewards. Spot on. Gaming my wife remains a massive weak spot. Will be working on this and will report back in future OYS.

fyi . . . the "1000 lbs club" is typically DL+SQ+BP (not that it matters) Absolutely—not including my OHP in this. Approaching 900 on the big three, 100 lbs to go to join the big boys club. Should have mentioned in my OYS post, I got full blood work done a couple months back—testosterone is on the high end of normal. Definitely some room to improve on macros and program switching/consistency. not saying hit on the waitress; but instead bring the mayor game. Thanks—solid advice for me, and a good…

Thank you—I fully intend to. I've long applied an incremental-improvement mindset to my lifting, trying to be a bit better/stronger each day. With MRP, I'm applying the same approach to my whole life. Each day, find ways to be a bit better than the day before.

OYS #1 I’ve been lurking, reading, and learning for a bit more than a year, and am long overdue to start posting here. This may end up a bit long since I will be providing more history/background than I expect for future OYS posts. Physical Age: 38 Height: 6’1” Weight: 180 lbs. Bodyfat: Navy method & calipers (J/P 3-site and 4-site) all say 8-9%; the mirror laughs in my face and says: “Bullshit...12-13% minimum. Want to see those abs? Keeping working, faggot.” DL: 365, SQ: 285, BP: 195, OHP: 125…

Check out 'Eat Stop Eat' by Brad Pilon. He's a former bodybuilder with a master's degree in nutrition who primarily writes about fasting. He advocates a 24-hour fast once per week, while lifting. I've followed his protocol successfully for extended periods (several months at a time) in the last few years. Currently fasting approx. 24 hours once per week, from dinner on Sunday to dinner on Monday. I'm 38, 6'1", 185lbs, ~12% bf. DL 345, S 295, BP 195, OHP 115. I didn't start fasting for religious/…
