bcoz his life will be destroyed by the law and society if he try to hit her back.. he will probably will loose his job, will be arrested under domestic violence act which is non bailable "guilty until proven innocent".. he and his family will loose dignity in society.. hence the cost is huge if he hits back considering she is capable of only causing him minor injuries by those light hits

77k rupee is decent monthly income in most of large cities in India. He has to be CEO of top firm to get paid 77k$ per month which is more then 5million rupee per month. For a reference a dollar goes long way in India as compared to US in purchasing power. nominal rate 1$=70rs real rate 1$=17rs
