I'm 24, I don't think that makes me old. And I wouldn't go for this at all. Most strong, confident women aren't going to put up with bullshit like this. There are enough guys out there who realize how lucky they are to have some of my time that I don't have to waste it on some guy who'd rather hit on someone else.

Ok, so maybe this isn't the advice you'll get from most people on here. But from a woman, don't do this. Maybe an insecure, desperate girl will respond to this the way you'd like (and if that's the kind of girl you're going for, fine). However, I would have to think that any self respecting woman just wouldn't go out with you again. I know that personally I wouldn't waste my time with you if you pull this shit.

Nope, not at all. But, a lot of guys resort to compliments on physical things to break the ice. It isn't unique and no matter how well thought out, it doesn't show a lot of depth.

Ok...so then you're admitting that you've been watching her for a while. Again, some women may find that complimentary, personally I'd think it's kind of creepy.

I mean, yeah. But it's still pretty much the same as "hey, you look hot in that dress" on the street. Depending on the woman she may be totally fine with it, or she could be offended. Either way, I never think that a complement is a good opener because it can either come off as fake or creepy...although one that has worked on me before is "I heard your laugh from across the room. It sounded so happy I just had to come over and see who it belonged too." Not something based on my physical, but als…

I'm not sure if you're implying that you think I'm unattractive and have therefore never been complimented or suggesting that since I didn't roll out a list of credentials you think you can just ignore me. You're talking about complimenting women. I'm a woman and I gave you my opinion on your "technique" which is that it could come off as creepy. Don't really understand why you find that invalid.

I see what you did there. Oh aren't you clever.

Nope. You must hate being contradicted.

I can't really think of a context where I wouldn't feel like that.

I'm a woman. If you said all that to me I'd probably be put off for a number of reasons. First, I'd probably think you're gay. Second, I'd be creeped out that you were examining me so closely. Third, I'd be worried that if you noticed those things you'd also have noticed my flaws and I would assume that you've just been judging me. Just my two cents.

Leave it up to her. Tell her it's ok and understand and then suggest that she set things up next time so that she has control over the scheduling and won't wind up having to cancel again. Shows that you're still interested but not a doormat

I really hope that the irony in your post was intentional.

Well yeah if they're coming on crazy strong or something. Just as a girl, that does approach and make an effort, I find it offensive to be called a "freak" just because I have girl game. I can make a move, it isn't against the rules and it doesn't make me a freak, just way more awesome than girls that are too cowardly to go after who they're interested in.

True, but personally I didn't get the impression that there was a positive connotation behind this usage of "freak" it just seems nasty.

Wow. Way to come across as an asshole. Girls aren't freaks if they chase.

It's really sweet that you want to be gentle, but gentle and a pussy are two different things. Make it clear that she is simply too young and inexperienced for you right now. Make it clear that this doesn't have ANYTHING to do with who she is as a person, but that you have morals and try to conduct yourself in a polite and gentlemanly and becoming involved with someone so young goes against that. Also, don't give her any false hope. Don't tell her "maybe in a few years" or "once you have more ex…

It's not constant validation is what I'm saying though. It's about not wanting to lose the valued and relied upon friendship.

Sit down and talk to her. Explain to her that you understand her hesitancy but that you truly like her and just want to explore this. Tell her you don't want to wind up hurting each other, although you recognize that in any romantic situation hurt is a possibility and you accept that. But that in spite of the things that could go wrong, you still want to find out what you two have together because it could be something really special and you think it's worth the risk. Obviously you don't have to…

If you honestly and truly value the guy's friendship, than we can actually work very hard to ignore that you like us in any way other than friendship so that we can keep being around you without feeling constantly guilty. There are also times (and this is much more subconscious) that we are keeping you around because we know that you're better for us than the douchebags we're dating. That, however, makes you incredibly scary. Many women are so self-protective that the idea of letting someone get…
