I feel you,, man. The loss of half the time with my kids hurt just as much as the loss of my ex-wife. I was a full time dad and full time provider. It was my identity. Three books I read that really helped me in find my values, a bit of hope, and stay steady as I navigated the 50/50 single dad life were: 1) The World’s Best Dad During and After Divorce. 2). I feel you on so much of this, man. I just got 50/50 of my kiddos after a long separation. But your question of how to cope with losing your best friend is real! Ugh. I read a ton of books and two that really helped were: “The World’s Best Dad During and After Divorce.” And, “Dad’s Daily Digest During Divorce.”

Great advice from everyone here! Thank you. The main reason is that she wants to change direction in life, go start something new, get away from the family… it doesn’t make any sense… but it also does with the diagnosis.
