Yes some people don't use sex to express their love. And some people view sex as meaningless. But when people say they view sex as an expression of love, that's because that's how they personally want to and do approach it. I kiss my partner to express my love. I give gifts to my partner to express my love. Those are things people can pay for as well. Every expression of love you could theoretically pay for. Just because I have sex with my partner to express my love to him doesn't mean that's what everyone else is doing every time they have sex.

Whenever my bf is uncomfortable with any guy I'm friends with (which hasn't happened in a long tims cuz I have no friends lol), we talk about it and come to a conclusion we are both content with. As a religious person, usually you date within your religion. In Christianity marrying someone who shares the faith is literally in the bible. Biggest trend in my religion that drives me up the fuckin wall is Christians dating non-Christians hoping they'll be able to convert them. It very much has "I can fix him" vibes and is icky.
