Early humans were far more exposed to the threat of starvation or disease through malnutrition than they were to the threat of other humans. Your theory still makes no sense as if attraction was based on survival then the best hunter would be the most attractive person, and that wouldn't be the tallest. To make sense, your theory would need to show that other humans were the largest threat to humans in pre-historic times. This cannot be shown because it isn't true.

The point is that there has been no wider demise of gender norms for men as there has for women. The primary role of women has been broken down, allowing them to engage in many different types of societal and social roles without men losing attraction to them. The same cannot be said for men, which is why they uniquely suffer when it comes to dating and women don't.

Why threat would a tall man be able to protect against that justifies such a long-standing preference? A few generations is enough to develop new preferences for attraction. On a smaller scale preferences can change within a single generation. Look at what we considered attractive throughout history and you'll see a myriad of contradictory characteristics.

I'm not anymore, I've improved, but for some time I was and all I had was my height.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/23 06:17 PM

Trust me, they do. I've been a real worthless loser in my life but have gotten attention from women because I'm quite tall. Not for all, but for many, it's very important.

As long as you're as determined to earn the same amount he does in your career, I don't see the problem with that.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/08/23 06:05 PM

They only lie because of how shallow women are when it comes to height. Women did it to men.

Shorter people are better at hunting than taller people, so that theory is bollocks.

Unfortunately I have been told I have a "odd" natural smell, despite being very hygienic. Apparently I smell like an old person. At least I've got something to blame my dating woes on, although I use extra strength products to obscure my odd smell it can only do so much.

Well, the blame is multi-layered. There's a layer of blame aimed at women who consider them unworthy for the reasoning behind the man being judged as unworthy. This could be justified or unjustified depending on the reasoning but to say for certain you would have to address the reasoning independently. Then there's a second layer of blame associated against the individual themselves for this perceived defect. A common one in men is "I'm not manly enough", the idea of not meeting the expectations…

I never said making friends is easy, but that finding somebody to engage in an asexual romantic relationship is harder.

That's not my point, my point is that statistically, on average, countries which have legalized prostitution report more inflow of victims of human trafficking than countries that haven't. The effect of legal prostitution on human trafficking is stronger in high-income countries than developing/third world countries because trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation requires that clients in said country have sufficient purchasing power to engage in the market. So if we're talking about l…

So you can sleep in a bus shelter. Are you saying that if you sleep in a bus shelter, your need for shelter is met and anything else beyond that is a want/desire?

That doesn't make any sense to me. Surely it's easier to find another friendship than it is to find somebody willing to be in a asexual romantic relationship with you, considering how niche that sexuality (or lack of sexuality) is.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/23 05:23 PM

You can survive without shelter, we did so for hundreds of thousands of years.

It's more the fear that women can love, but they can't love me. The fear of being defective in a way which excludes you from human intimacy is a strong motivation for feeling hopeless, especially where this fear is reinforced by an history of rejection.

Women love men who meet their idea of what being a man is. Women care far more about their partner meeting gender norms than men do. This is just a statistical fact.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/23 05:17 PM

Why is shelter a need? You can survive without it, just as you can survive without intimacy.

I'm not offended because you're just wrong. Humans desire companionship, it's a part of who we are. The fact that you see all relationships as transactional and love as non-existent says more about you than anybody else. Why else would asexuals still desire exclusive romantic partners?

I disagree in that I don't think the data makes it clear. Countries with legalized prostitution are associated with higher human trafficking levels than countries where prostitution is illegal, and these countries have strict regulations which don't seem to work. It makes it easier to report a rape, sure, but it also increases trafficking and exposes more women to possible rape.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/23 05:10 PM

Is shelter a need?

So you're saying women can love men but not the other way around? Personally, to me, sex is not the most important part of a relationship by far. I could live without it, quite honestly. Intimacy, trust, and companionship are far more important. When I'm upset because I'm single, it's not because I can't get laid, it's because I'm missing the intimacy and companionship of an equal partner. Many men feel this way but it seems women ignore this when talking about men.

That's a different matter. I'm talking about where prostitution is legal. Often the social stigma around prostitution exists post-legalisation, which still makes them less likely to report the rape.

Do you know people you're physically attracted to who you aren't sexually attracted to? I do but I don't know if I'm an exception.

On the other end a lot of sex crime occurs during the filming of porn videos. Often people don't consent to everything that goes on during filming. It's just far less likely to be reported. Whilst porn probably shouldn't be illegal, it definitely needs to be much more regulated than it currently is for this reason alone.

You wouldn't likely find that the rates are higher as sex workers are far less likely to report a rape for obvious reasons. That's why the argument against sex work is hard to make, you have to look more at the frequency of sex trafficking in countries that have legalized sex work, which shows that despite legislation young, often underage girls are being raped and the system largely ignores them because it's done under the guise of legality.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/23 04:52 PM

Most men don't rape people. Your comment is the same as me pointing towards African American crime statistics and making a racist comment on all black people just because of the actions of a few.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/23 04:49 PM

Technically, humans don't need shelter. What we "need" and what we need are two separate categories under the same word.

Reported rape decreased sharply. Rape of prostitutes is far less likely to be reported than rape of your average citizen.

Most people to some degree have poor self-discipline and make poor decisions. If that was a barrier to attraction, the human race would've died millennia ago.

Plenty of people are attracted to those who look nothing like social conditioning. Plenty of people are into fucking chairs. Even those people are subject to social conditioning to some degree. The exception does not disprove the statistical norm. Physically? No. Why? You have offered no explanation. I agree that there is nothing wrong with enjoying healthy bodies or people with healthy lifestyles that are reflected in their looks. However, physical traits that aren't linked with these positive …

The reason is irrelevant. The fact of the matter is that attraction is not fixed, it's highly tied to social conditioning. We should be pushing for people to be more accepting of certain traits and less accepting of others. This will be the social conditioning that will make for a more equal dating culture as what people are attracted to will change.

I would go further and say that society requires to a certain extent that men exhibit certain masculine behaviour. I have both masculine and feminine characteristics and I tend to find that I have to hide one-half of my personality to be accepted, especially when it comes to my dating prospects with women.

Post a link to a photo of a guy you would consider "average". My guess is that unattractive men are simply invisible to you and you subconsciously don't deem their existence even worthy of cataloguing in your mind.

We can change what people are attracted to. Years ago it was attractive to have crushed, malformed feet in China.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/06/23 12:45 AM

No, men just are capable of looking past those flaws and seeing the positive sides of their partners. Most men are not manipulative abusers.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/23 11:43 PM

No, they're what women find attractive. Men for the most part are fine with more passive/timid partners. Most men literally just want their partner to have a baseline attractiveness and have some things in common with them. Nature isn't fair, and it's our job to progress beyond nature as human beings. It's why we don't rape people as opposed to saying "nature isn't fair" when somebody gets raped, or why we try to aim for a more equal society rather than whipping slaves whilst saying "nature isn'…

I think you'll find the insensitive frat boy jock type will do the same thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/23 06:43 PM

Yeah, but I was just adding a relevant point.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/06/23 06:35 PM

Not an attractive personality type for MEN to have. For women, this seems to do little to affect how they are perceived as attractive, sometimes it can even be a positive. The fact that men have to strictly abide by certain characteristics to be considered attractive is part of the reason why dating is much harder for them.
