This!!! Supposedly I’m a HVW (don’t love the term). Two biggest things for guys: Status—this is relative, be the big man on campus, leader, etc. Do NOT be boring—women love attention and stimulation, you can be the hottest guy in terms of looks but women will get bored quickly with a boring personality. Even being an engaging asshole (do not recommend) is better than being boring. Boring is the most fatal flaw a man can have. It’s okay to be dorky, you don’t have to be cool, just can’t be boring…

Thank you. You’re awesome! 😎 Sorry I didn’t get it, it makes a lot of sense now! 🤣 I have some toys, but I think it might make it worse for me? 🫠 Maybe like an itch and you scratch it and it just gets itchier. I sound so dramatic but it was getting so bad at one point I thought about trying to go to the doctor to see if he/she would prescribe me SSRIs that can really decrease your libido—I would tell the doctor this was my motivation, would be fully transparent. 🤣 But the more I looked into it, …

What I want to know is what men do to cope with their horniness/sexual frustration? Beyond just relieving themselves? I’m 40F, very high libido, conventionally attractive (not sure if this is relevant), and was a serial monogamist from my teen years up until this point. I’m wrapping up a divorce and this is by far the longest drought I’ve ever experienced. Here are my issues: 🤣 -I’ve always had frequent sex, but only in a committed relationship context. I do not see that on the horizon though. -…

Someone robbing you is presumably a stranger? Robbing you with a weapon is a very clear action to interpret. Abusers don’t abuse you all the time and the action isn’t clearly defined, oftentimes the action is more ambiguous than what it seems. There are good times, especially in the beginning. They gaslight you, manipulate you, ironically they turn around their bad behavior onto you. Dr. Normani said that athletes and people who have a track record of being able to get things done are very susce…

I agree with most of what you said. You articulated yourself well with nuance and reason. The only part I disagree with is the incorrect characterization of his approach as “tough love.” Unless the definition of love 💗 has changed to mean the opposite, I see no evidence to support anything loving about his approach? If someone was sad and asked for love and support, I think almost everyone would know that would NOT include calling the person names, “you idiot, you’re immature, you’re narcissisti…

Your comment is ignorant and offensive. You clearly aren’t here to learn or gain perspective. Why would you be open to learning when you already have it all figured out right? I love learning and am open to COMPELLING, well laid out, logical arguments. None of which you have provided. Just redundant ignorance and a perception of it being a “low blow” to share your life experiences and psychological knowledge (or lack thereof). The universe will humble you since you keep asking for it. BET.

Thanks for confirming your lack of education and inability to articulate oneself. As anticipated, your receipts speak volumes. ✅ Work on yourself. Mentally, I would assume physically there’s a bit to shore up as well too. 🤡 You come across as someone with a dearth of life and travel experience. This is true. My ex didn’t even start yelling at me until after our first child was born. The abuse escalated over time.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/23 09:29 AM

I am extremely smart and stayed in an abusive marriage for many years. I am very mature—I basically raised myself. People have always told me I’m an old soul. I stayed for a variety of reasons, mainly for my kids and wanting to keep my family together. The abuse escalated over time. I always hoped he would go back to the person I fell in love with who was so sweet to me. He told he wanted to be that person again. He would make significant efforts and backslide. Thank you for this comment. I CANNOT flirt. My friends think I’m bullshitting them bc I’ve always had a lot of male interest. I’m conventionally attractive and that does a TON of the heavy lifting. I’m demisexual so I don’t feel attraction initially. I need a connection before I feel attraction. Even though I explain my demisexuality to guys, hot guys take it personally—bc they just hear that I’m not attracted to them…yet. I have an extremely high drive for a woman. You’re wrong in terms of conflation and the implication you’re presenting. Here’s my copy & pasted comment from above: Hi, I am demisexual and there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding the term: —demisexual is part of the ACE spectrum, this leads to the conflation of thinking demisexual => low libido. 🚫This is not necessarily the case. Oh I wish this were true! During the time we talked he would send me lots of selfies of his hotness. Post gym selfie, paddling boarding photo, hanging out at home casually with no shirt, face selfies too of course. His selfies gave me the ick. Respectfully I would love to downgrade my life. I’m wrapping up a divorce and my ex provided us with a comfortable lifestyle. I have talked to a lot of different guys who are high income earners ($500K+) and wealthier men ($5M+), but the guy I like the most BY FAR. The only guy I would be interested in has the least amount of status and the least amount of money. To be fair to him he is a lot younger—he’s 28 and I’m 40. Agree about it being an awesome trait, it is a green flag for me. That guy and I both have similar, growth mindsets. We both have started at the bottom for different things, both very determined, like we will find a way. Both more process oriented than needing an instant result. Both do things the harder way if we think it’s better. Both like a challenge. I am good with being really shitty at things in the beginning, grinding it out and improving. Those stats are correct. I can’t believe it’s not a national health crisis. Just crazy! I’m 40F and conventionally attractive. People think I look younger for my age, most people think late 20s (don’t gaslight me please). I think part of it is bc I’m petite and have a leaner/athletic build (relatively lean—18-20% body fat, I have visible ab muscles, but not a 6 pack). I’ve been in therapy/EMDR for over the past year. It changed my life in amazing ways. 🦋 EMDR has been like a fucking miracle for my trauma. I had very bad depression and severe anxiety before going. Therapy is a lot of SELF work. I am very emotionally open and was ready to heal decades ago (I didn’t realize there were modalities like EMDR available). He gives me credit for our kids “achievements”. They are smart and talented kids. 🙏🏼 He told me if it wasn’t for me and if he was in charge they would just watch Netflix and iPads all the time. Part of it is challenging bc most SAHP are moms. I think there are three reasons why women would reject conventionally attractive men: 1) if he’s BORING -I’ve dated one model good looking guy and one model good looking guy liked me. Their personalities weren’t as fun. Women like to laugh, be stimulated mentally, but these guys were just kind of there. Didn’t have much presence besides their exceptional looks. I think extremely attractive women work much better for guys bc they are so visual. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2) scared he might be a PLAYER/F*CK BOY -I hav…

“and all hovering around average in terms of looks.” —This is the issue. Case closed. JK! 😆 I’ve noticed that women tend to overestimate how much guys value (are attracted to) their success, education, job, and income. Because women believe this, they may think they should be dating higher value men. I personally don’t believe in the marketplace approach to dating (I’m demisexual), but I have tried to understand it and this is how I see it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ When you are aiming above your league the results…

Men should pursue whoever they are interested in. But I think guys actually would want it all if possible. Not just a young, beautiful woman, but other qualities that they value too. I went on 4-5 dates with a guy in his mid 40s that I met through OLD. I’m 40F and he was all about having a trophy gf. His two ex gfs were in their 20s and early 30s, both had done modeling. Agree completely. There is less natural interaction between SES groups now than there was in the past. Like before I feel like a legal secretary or paralegal would marry an attorney. Now it feels like two attorneys marry each other. I grew up blue collar, working class. I was the first person in my family to go to college. First person in my family to have a passport. That’s funny, I feel like my marriage was short and a failure. 🤣 Perspective is interesting. I think the 6, 6, 6 is terrible. It’s the devil’s number for a reason. 😆 Greed, vanity, lust. 👎 I would focus less on developing yourself for your ability to attract hot, boring women and more for your personal growth/development. It sounds so cheesy, but being the best version of you will attract the most options. It’s kind of what I did. One of the reasons I think many guys are interested in me is that…

I agree with this. For some reason it’s the hot women that can become really crappy people, like ugly on the inside (not all of course). Mean Girls, while a fictional movie, does resonate. Some hot women can be like bullies, mean spirited, make fun of people to their face & behind their backs, use people, have low integrity, and be disloyal. I guess it’s the guys fault 🤣, the mean girls are just so attractive, enough guys will still want them. This will make them popular and powerful. And they d…

It depends on the couple. Sex frequency does decrease after marriage or the newness of any relationship wears off. I think both people should be wildly attracted to one another. This will keep the relationship alive. Also it is important to make sure the two people are sexually compatible and have similar drives. I’m 40F, strangers and random people tell me I’m really hot/pretty (conventionally attractive). I also am very high drive and demisexual (need connection before I feel attraction). Here…

Haha, you know what’s so funny, very recently one of my gfs was telling me about her sister and her husband and how their sex life is better now (they’ve been married a long time) and how they have sex all the time. She is very open and has fun talking about these types of things. She is like my sister always looks like she’s glowing and so happy—prob bc she’s getting laid all the time. 🤣🤣
/r/PurplePillDebate25/08/23 10:53 PM

Haha, yes. A couple waiting until marriage to have sex would expect an increase of sex frequency post marriage—I hope! 😆 For your sister is the sex better AND more frequent? Normally frequency decreases with marriage. With long term partners, I think sex quality improves if communication is strong, as you get more and more comfortable with one another, and the love grows.

Absolutely agree with this distinction. It is wholly dependent on whether your spouse CANNOT VS WILL NOT have sex with you. One situation there is no choice involved, the other there is choice involved. Huge difference. I am very high drive. I’ve had sex thousands of times (did not keep track, just an estimate) in LTRs/marriage. If my spouse was in an accident and wasn’t able to have sex with me for the rest of our lives, I feel confident that I could go without it. Do I love it? Yes. Is my comm…

That’s tough! 😔. ⬆️ This has to be one of the fastest ways to turn me and I’m assuming many women off because: 1) I would be questioning the guy’s physical strength, he doesn’t need to be a power lifter or anything, but he should be stronger than me. He should utilize that strength in these scenarios. 2) Literally having you do the heavy lifting. Very symbolic.…

Yes of course that is an oversimplification of speed! 😉Soccer is tricky to judge speed since it’s short intense bursts of running, oftentimes while dribbling. I think it’s fair to say all the soccer players we watch on tv are fast. I would guess top 10% of the general population (same age and same gender comparison, with maybe a few outliers). I agree there is a range of speeds between the players, some are much faster than others (how else would you sort out the strikers and backs 🤪). The socce…

A lean athletic muscular build is the hottest IMO. It is the hardest to achieve I believe. Some people can be lean, but very minimal muscle. Other people can be very muscular, but not very lean (higher body fat %, maybe a bit bulky). The gold standard is BOTH lean and muscular. I was researching some conditioning exercises for my son and one coach said he had never seen someone who was lean and muscular who was slow. The implication being that lean + muscular = fast 💨. I agree.

I agree that women generally care more about face than body. I believe men are the same way for a LTR. For a hook up or casual then men care more about body and less about face.

Yes, we do. I’m demisexual too (need an emotional connection before I’m able to feel attraction to someone). I think women, including myself, can have trouble accepting the idea that we care about looks bc it feels shallow perhaps. Personally if other qualities are really special, like his personality, leadership qualities, intelligence, how he makes me feel, etc. He can be below average for the face and I will think he’s handsome (this might be a demi thing?). Body is trickier for me bc I love …

Hate the setting the other person up as the bad guy. IMO the sex withholding spouse is the bad guy! There can be health issues, hormonal issues, mental health issues, past traumas, etc, but it is imperative that the extremely low libido person is willing to do the work to address the issue. Not just dismiss the other person’s normal, healthy desires bc they have the sex seeking spouse’s love and commitment.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/08/23 04:19 PM

Agree! I’m a woman and high drive. Sex is an ESSENTIAL part of a marriage relationship. Every other aspect of a marital relationship can be OUTSOURCED besides this. I personally hate when the sex rejecting partner makes the other partner the bad guy bc she is being “hounded for sex.” To me, that is worse than a spouse disregarding/invalidating the other spouse’s emotional needs (again bc you cannot outsource this). Oftentimes when I see spouses exasperated by a dead bedroom situation, the sex se…

I agree with you! Even older men can be like your last sentence! When I didn’t want to go on a second date or continue talking to some guys that were my age or older, I sometimes would mention that I want a special connection and it was difficult for them to accept—they would say, but we are starting a special connection (that’s not the exact wording they used, but the gist of it). Ahhh, I see. Thanks for the clarification. 😊 I think some of them would have probably accepted just FWBs if I had to guess, not sure. I think they would have preferred a romantic relationship though. Ohhh—I have two questions: 1) is it harder to be rejected from a hook up/FWB proposition or romantic relationship proposition for guys? 2) will guys typically go for FWBs even if they want a full on relationship (if the girl only offers/accepts FWBs)?

I would be extra repulsed by friends wanting to hook up sometimes. That is not a friend then, that is a casual hook up partner? I can’t do sexual intimacy without it being in the context of a committed, exclusive relationship. I couldn’t even multidate (and there wasn’t even kissing). Hmm—what do you mean friends as pure sexual partners? Like FWB? I’ve never had that before and know myself well enough that it wouldn’t be a good fit for me. Agree with all of this! The ugly guy who has low market value is so angry, he is not treated well or ignored by the world generally. He typically wants other people to share in his misery. He rationalizes his behavior because he feels so bad about himself (when you feel so bad it’s hard to care about other people’s feelings…). He also typically wants to prove his desirability by sleeping with more women (the thinking is overly simplistic: higher body count = more desirable). A lot of older women…

Love fivethirtyeight’s content. Smart to look at each gender’s masterbation rates for comparison. So many issues with the data though—I assume this is self reporting. /r/PurplePillDebate29/06/23 02:42 AM

Exactly! I guess having more, makes you want more. That's why I think it's toxic to just be chasing money (chase passions, work hard, you will make a lot of money), you will end up being very cheap and greedy. My MIL's partner is very high net worth, I would guess $15-20M and he is so cheap, he will let having to pay for parking (I get it, it does suck) ruin the evening. I would rather be poorer and not like that.

I have met some that are incredibly greedy and cheap. Extremely off-putting given the amount of wealth they have (this is for men and women I know). Agree with this, but I think guys can be flexible with any set criteria they have in their mind? Dependent upon how much they like the person. For example, a guy I went out on some dates with normally dates younger and not moms. He actually likes trophy gfs. But he seemed pretty into me and continued to ask me out after we realized what we wanted didn’t sync up.

Unless a man plays the roles of provider and payer of dates, he is not valued. This is masculinity IMO and pretty much all the women I know want and are attracted to a masculine man. I feel like I’m some sort of hybrid when it comes to SES. 🤔I’m going through a divorce right now, but my husband is from a very successful, prestigious, highly educated family. My in laws spent millions on my husband and his sibl…

That makes sense to me. Plus the pregnancies & births, it is so demanding on a woman’s body.

Same body fat %, that’s impressive! It’s so hard to just gain muscle and no additional fat in over 15+ years. Their bodies and faces just look better for guys and girls. I think your body starts declining and you automatically lose muscle at age 30 right? Maybe some women have an older, more mature looking face preference for guys—it wouldn’t surprise me if they associate all those other favorable older guy qualities I mentioned before with that look.

Yea I think I benefit from the population distribution curve that way. 😂 In talking to my therapist about it, my looks have been pretty constant, but they are almost more beneficial in a sense now bc I have a more youthful look and am fit. Both harder to come by at 40 than at 25.

Age is not why your looks are improving. FITNESS is why your looks are improving. If you did the same fitness efforts in your 20s, better body back then than the one you have now. It is what it is.

And I promise you I am not offended at all with you thinking mid to late 20s women are the most attractive. I agree with this. Most people guess my age as late 20s. So maybe I’m biased that way. Perhaps. I’m 40F but have gotten hit on by so many mid to late 20s, very attractive, super fit guys, that were collegiate athletes. This is by far the most common demographic to hit on me. I also am secure in knowing that people find me conventionally attractive. I guess I would ask myself if maybe your …

I think we are saying the same thing. There is definitely decline for men in 25-50 age range, but it doesn’t seem as severe as it is for women. I think it’s very coincidental that the age range you like fit into the best looking ages for female and you fall into the UPPER age range of your best looking age for males.

I think guys look best from a purely aesthetic perspective mid to late 20s. Early 20s still looks too kiddish to me. I think men age better in an aesthetic sense in their 30s and 40s. Their looks don’t decline as rapidly. Maybe the different hormones. Not carrying the babies and birthing them too. But overall you take the average guy’s 25, 35, and 45 year olds fit body, the 25 is superior, then 35, then 45. Women too.

I’m sorry, but there is WAY MORE grace and tolerance for less than ideal physical looks for men than there is for women. The emphasis and importance placed on women’s physical looks far exceeds that placed on men.

AWW THANK YOU! That’s such a huge compliment. ☺️ I enjoyed talking with you too. I appreciate your willingness to listen. I know that can be challenging for a high conviction person (I am one myself). I can tell you’re a formidable debater and I appreciate that. Even though we are on the same team, haha. 😂 I’ve been blessed with this crazy mix of life experiences, insane really—sometimes I wonder, what is it all for God, why? What do you want me to do with it? Make comments on Reddit I guess…🫠 P…

Fair enough, I did not see that perspective. Great ownership, that's awesome. :) There are complicated factors going into gender identity and I will avoid going into those here. Yeah Stephen Speaks is pretty good. Uhhh, STRONG DISAGREE--he is amazing! So impressed by him. Vetting potential partners is very important. No one is perfect though. People are flawed and will disappoint you, it's our nature. I could go on to respond to your long comment; but you get the idea, and I get yours. Greater u…

Also, sorry to write a novel, haha. I really doubt you are an abuser. Such a flattering compliment I know! The reason being is that you are very transparent about what you are looking for and your expectations in a partner. The abusers I know are the "nicest guys", not saying you aren't nice. But abuse is typically well hidden. It starts off more suggestive with the controlling behaviors and escalates over time. Your behavior just seems like you know what you want and are high conviction about i…

Oh yea for sure I got downvoted, it definitely strikes a nerve and I really get it. I've had this incredible set of diverse life experiences, so I can see their perspective really well. I've actually thought like that before. :) So I have experienced trauma firsthand and had a good amount of experiences with a lot of men who chose not to lead, they were weak, cowardly, immature, etc. I definitely don't believe I went to my masculine energy bc I was desiring a masculine man, a lot of these things…

Yea people are going to find what you are saying offensive and controversial. I agree that traditional values get shit on. It’s so counter culture, but the culture isn’t that great if we are all honest about it…Part of my subscription to traditional values is my religion/faith. I think if I didn’t have that, I wouldn’t feel as secure in wanting a traditional relationship. I think deep down I would still want that though. I realized I’m happiest in my feminine energy. Like I can feel it in my sou…

A lot of the things you’ve said I agree with you in principle. I think some people might dislike your delivery of it. There are controlling and abusive guys and girls that share these sentiments but I trust in my ability to decipher between healthy and unhealthy now. A lot depends on the actual dynamic involved and how they are executed. I prefer if the guy is the leader, but not in a dictator way. He doesn’t exploit his power for his own personal benefit, he makes the best decision for the team…

Yes, this. Sex is the only thing you can’t delegate/outsource in a romantic relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/06/23 01:24 PM

That’s crazy to me. For me as a woman, I want it all, haha. The emotional connection being the most important. That drives the physical connection for me (I’m demisexual) and the best sex for me is the kind where you love each other, feel safe being vulnerable with one another, trust each other, focus on each other’s pleasure, are really into it/enthusiastic, really desire each other, and really are able to communicate with one another.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/06/23 01:23 PM

Those ladies are having some fun & pleasure! I think a lot of it is the guy having masculine qualities! Those are great in the bedroom AND even BETTER IRL. Some ladies don’t mind a guy who aimlessly goes through life without confidence, passion, and purpose, but that is a major turn off to me. I personally wouldn’t be into the sex if his life is a complete mess due to his decisions and actions, no matter how hot he is, what physical capabilities, skills, and confidence he has in the bedroom.

I see, that’s what I thought you were potentially getting at, but didn’t want to assume. Totally understand wanting to be believed—I have a pretty silly example of this. I used to be painfully shy. I would go out of my away to avoid strangers. But, I was typically pretty popular and social, like in community settings, like college, professional school, gym, youth sports for my kids, etc. That popularity was built by individual connections, people approaching me and their friendliness. I refused …

Hmm, not sure if I follow. Some of the people I told had no idea, other people had an inclination. They all were able to respond like this. I think having very strong and genuine relationships helps. I think being an honest and principled person also helps. Honestly if someone tried to question me on it, like are you sure you didn’t get confused in how you experienced this…it would have impacted the relationship for me. Not necessarily dropping them, but definitely give that relationship less pr…

I think you’re right that there is an underlying sexual aspect to this. I definitely like when my partner is more assertive, takes charge for sex, passionate, and really goes for it. It makes me feel really desired and more feminine. People like different things though. Personally I’m attracted to more masculine guys and those qualities translated into the sex I like best.

I see how you could come to this conclusion, but I think it's conflating a lot of things. Overall, if you want a real connection and relationship, don't play games. If you play games and she is only responsive to those, then she has issues she needs to work on before being emotionally ready for something serious. If you turn someone off by being real and authentic, then that will save you time by ruling them out quickly and finding someone who is right for you and what you're looking for. Good l…

I think part of it is that some of these toxic men also happen to have masculine energy. I think a lot of the women (barring unhealed trauma, needing to work through past dysfunction) are attracted to the masculine energy part.

I agree that words like “abuse” and “narcissist” are used very loosely by the public at large. It’s unfortunate, but these are actual terms with definitions. Many women (and men) have experienced real abuse. I just feel so GRATEFUL that every one of my close friends and family members I confided in about the abuse I experienced never even gave the slightest iota of doubt or negating me in any way (like he’s such a nice guy, I’m so surprised—none of that shit). Just unequivocal support and TRUST …

Interesting about somewhat demisexual. What makes you think you somewhat are? I need the emotional connection and the looks. And I don’t feel shallow about wanting the looks now. :)

I used to think that wanting physical attraction in a relationship when everything else is good/exceptional was shallow. But a YouTuber I love said that it’s necessary in a relationship and I subscribe to that now. Physical attraction is a must. I’m demisexual so I think I’m used to not having physical attraction but starting to like someone.
