How and where would you draw the line though? I think it'd be fair to at least give them an equal chance and something and if women choose to not do it, then it's fine. I'm starting to think you're talking about men and women in court, in which case men (at least in the USA, AFAIK) are already drawing the short straw...

Note: that was a conjecture I made. But I've read the article again, and you're right. She was the main perpetrator, so it does seem less fair that she gets a lesser sentence, even though she's a bigger threat to children.
