Have you read any Jung? I’ve heard quite a bit about him from lectures and other books but haven’t yet delved in myself.

Nothing crazy. Im 20. 5’10 @180lbs. I don’t reallt ever 1RM because I lift alone most of the time. I just track all my lifts in this app called ‘Strong’ I like it a lot. Bench: 245x5 Squat: 295x7 I don’t like to go heavier because I had a knee injury back in high school. Deadlift: 315x3

Monday- chest Tuesday- legs Wed- off Thursday- arms Friday- back Saturday- shoulders Sunday- day of rest. I lift heavy every day is what i meant. But im also young and found thats what works for me so thats what i stick with. You said you’re not seeing progress, hows your diet? Are you eating too much? Too little? Not healthy? 70% diet 30% training. Once i fixed my diet is when i saw most of my results. I’ve been living in a hotel for the past 6 months due to some circumstances with the military…

Nah it will man. I was just trying to be a little aggressive to motivate you to go 6 if you can. I personally go 5. I take wednesday and sunday off. Lift heavy every other day. You just starting to lift?
/r/askTRP31/12/18 07:09 AM

Then why are you asking the question? If you can’t make it 6 days, you can’t make it 6 days.

this guy is tiny, he could mever physically overtake me Yeah, okay there dude. Until you get into a brawl with him and he slaps a triangle on you and you wonder where it all went wrong as you go unconcious. Dude could be training jiu jitsu. You have no clue. Best advice? Ignore it completely. You don’t want to get into a fight. Fights are primal, and you have no clue what he may do to you.

Sure! An average day for me is working 7-4. Depending on if we finish our work for the day or not we usually get out like an hour or so early. No matter what job you have in the Air Force, the morale and happiness in the shoo depends on your leadership and each other. If you’re having a bad day, don’t take it out on anyone else. I’ve seen that take down work centers day after day. The best things I’ve learned is financial responsibility, the importance of education, the fact that no one is going…

Yes I would say so! I would also reccomend some classic literature as well. There’s a reason those books have lasted 100’s of years. You’ll definitely figure out what kind of books you like. I really enjoyed Jordan Peterson’s book 12 rules and also Jocko Willink’s books

Read literature. Write about your life. Learn how to listen and communicate effectively. Make your bed every day. Train Jiu Jitsu. I really wish I started reading earlier, you learn a lot about the world and the way you think about things will change. Good luck man!

With regards to pushing yourself forward, I feel like I’m stuck at a stalemate in my situation. Im looking for some tips or advice from guys who’ve been in my shoes. I’ve been in the military for about 2 years now, and am 20 yrs old. I workout 5x a week, going to school, read, and train BJJ. Other then that, I don’t know how else to prepare myself for my future. I dislike the military and I’ll be out by the time im 23. What do till then? I think part of my problem is the military doesn’t fulfill…

With your tank analogy, does this also apply to us drinking water? I ask because I began drinking a gallon of water a day about a year ago. Now I can pretty easily drink up to 3 gallons a day and still be thirsty. I mean I work outside and lift 5x a week, but my peers who are on a similar schedule don’t drink nearly the same amount of water.

Great post. Motivational and informative. 3 years into lifting, started when I was 16, 19 now. Getting cheated on was what finally got my 140 pound skin and bones ass into the gym. I was so devastated when I was cheated on, and told myself ill show her whats up when i get all big and strong. Who woulda thought getting cheated on is what changed my life. I did end up hooking up with her again last year and when her arms were around my waist she says “you got so big” feeling my body. Mission accom…

Yeah. Men who succeed and follow the steps to success don't need TRP, TRP only supplicates your path like protein helps recover from an intense workout. When I was back in basic, we obviously didn't have access to the weight room for over 2 months. Me and the guys who lift were dying for a good life, we even went as far as after lights out at night we would sneak out of bed and lift them up to do shrugs, dips, etc. Men who want to succeed and grow will find a way.

My mother was never abusive, it was her ex husband who I've always had problems with. Luckily he's way out of the picture now. But that makes sense, it could get awkward quick. My mom and a LTR and myself, where does my attention go? Lol

I've definitely noticed that. About a month ago the LTR and my mom we're both supposed to come down to my base. My mom for the weekend, my LTR for the full week. Thought itd be good for them to finally meet and all of us to hangout. My mom ended up bailing on us about a week before and she was telling me how she didnt feel comfortable about it and wanted to come down by herself. LTR came down, and we had a great week together. Mom came a few weeks later and we had a good time also, but thats bes…

No doubt, man. She left her ex husband because of me. Him and I never got along, he used to hit me and shit and I never fought back because she had kids with him and I didnt want to ruin that for her. Thought that the child protective services would save me, they didnt do shit. My school tried helping me when i would come in with bruises and shit, but hey it all worked out in the end and it made me the man I am today. Definitely true though, no woman will ever love you like your mother.

Haha, I tell Jody jokes all the time even still. I'm not too worried about any of it. My post was strictly about my mothers actions. The LTR frequently makes trips out to see me and stays for a couple weeks, and isn't hindering my growing process at all. If it does end, it ends. Im pretty content where everything in my life is at currently, and if Jody does ever get to her, good. More time to myself and focus my efforts elsewhere.

Looking at phone contracts now, thanks. You guessed my job perfectly, Ammo guy here buildin bombs. So it does make sense how my mom seems constantly worried about me. As with the LTR, ill definitely stay away from the gifts portion, I already told her that her gift is me being home on her Birthday. I don't mind the hotel room as that benefits both of us, not just her. Thank you for the advice, and thanks for your previous service dude.

I can afford a trip back home and the hotel room. I was thinking about getting a hotel room for a night or two with the LTR and some friends to kick back and relax instead of hanging out at my mom and her husbands house, where I will be staying. Sorry if there was a misconception.
/r/askTRP08/09/17 04:36 PM

Man aint that the truth. Last time I was on leave she told me I was being lazy around the house and not doing too much. I told her this is my vacation and I spent the past 6 months in training. I could go anywhere in the country but I want to visit home to see some of the boys and the family. Respect what I want to do. Hope you had a good time in the Navy, brother!
/r/askTRP08/09/17 01:15 PM

Yeah, ill do that. My mom is running in the marathon back home the weekend im home, which I told her of course ill go support her run there. It's solly to me from a mans perspective, but I can see it upsets my mother for some reason. I try to be logical and break it down with my mom of whh shes upset, literally goes nowhere. Such is life.
/r/askTRP08/09/17 12:27 PM

Makes sense. I know she won't cancel the phone contract, but she always seems to use that as leverage. Ex: "i pay your phone bill and this is what I get" She tends to get emotional easily when it comes to matters with my decisions especially with other women. Maybe its time I open up my own phone contract, I can afford it.

The book leads to taking ownership in business and in the workplace, but it applies to every day life. Jocko will tell a story from him leading his SEALs in Ramadi, Iraq, the lessons learned and then tie it directly in to another story with a manager or CEO trying to lead in business. One of his main principles is "There's no such thing as bad teams, only bad leaders." The importance of taking ownership when you make a bad decision, and keeping things simple so that everyone in the team can unde…

Currently reading a book called "Extreme Ownership" by Jocko Willink. It's about exactly that, taking ownership of everything you've done and will do, laid out by a Retired Navy Seal. Definitely a mindset changer

I think discipline always helps in any situation. Your knee may never be at 100% again, but once you embrace that and learn from it I feel you will be able to accept it better. I know you've seen pictures of those dudes who have lost their leg(s) and now are super ripped in the upper body. Im sure they went through a depression phase before they finally saddled up and decided, hey, i gotta make the best of my circumstance.

First, listen to this. https://youtu.be/IdTMDpizis8 You're feeling bad for yourself and making excuses is whats going on man. People have it worse than you, and still workout. Its a matter of discipline and mental fortitude. You CAN workout. Sure, you may not be able to hit legs too much. Upper body is all you. Since you have an excuse not to hit legs, I expect you to have the biggest arms in the gym. I injured my knee, also. Not nearly as bad though. I dislocated it and tore a ligament complete…

I feel you. I think anyone who would say that getting that validation doesn't feel good would be lying. Identifying it as what it truly is rather than seeking it and thriving off that validation is the key. Too much of anything is a bad thing, even with Reddit.. look at some of the big time posters, they literally wait for news to drop to instantly post it on reddit for karma. Some people are really help captive by fake internet points.

You dont know what you want to do yet, so don't jump into college and drown in debt just to come out the other side worse than you started, and still not knowing what you want to do. I was in the exact same position, and joined the Air Force. Been in for close to a year now, and have a job with full benefits building bombs. Ill get out in 3 years and go to University for free. Ill look into the Roth TSP, i know nothing about investing or anything like that sadly. With crosstraining, don't you have to re-enlist in order to switch to another careerfield? Don't come here asking for advice if you're just going to hamster your way out to do what you were going to do if you didn't post here. You're blatantly ignoring good advice given by people who have taken time out of their day to reply to your ass messing up with your girlfriend. What exactly is wrong with you shoulder? I injured my knee freshman, dislocated it and tore a ligament completely through. Never got surgery. In that meantime, hit Legs. anything that doesnt put stress on your shoulder.

What you're planning to do is exactly what I would do. Take a week to myself to focus getting back on track. Catch up on some sleep, get work figured out, and get back to lifting steady. If it seems like she is pulling away, i always like to think of the skidding on ice analogy. You want to steer away from it, like pulling her closer to you, but the correct thing to do is to steer into the skid. Go along with it, grow distant 2x as much as she is. Stay busy.

I believe that going through a tough breakup can help, but i wouldn't say that it is mandatory. It speeds the process up quicker. The way I discovered TRP was through my brother after i told him i was thinking about going back to an ex LTR that cheated on me. Without those experiences, it is easier to hold on to the stories of disney princess and happily ever after, making one fall deeper into a rut.
