I take a similar approach to what you described. I'd also recommend reading a book called mini habits which I think complements OP's post well. I'm 26 and most of my plates have been in the 6-8 range. I'd say on average their n-count was between 8 and 12 with a few exceptions. One plate was well into the 30 range. Study groups are rarely helpful unless you are with the smartest people and you're using it to learn something you fundamentally can't pick up on your own. Building from this. I do agree with you that a lot of people just hype up polyphasic sleep without having ever tried it; however, I am not one of those people. I was utterly obsessed with it in the later years of high school and into college. I gave it multiple attempts, the longest being just over 4 weeks, before eventually giving up. I had a period of time when my logistics were totally fucked because I was living with an ex (don't cohabitate).
