the red piller seems like it would be worse. a less attractive person can be redeemed with a good personality, but bad looks + bad traits/attitude is... not great.

agreed.

i believe these particular things are mocked because of the extreme disgust and fear that TRP has expressed towards them and would feel at being called those things, and not necessarily because the poster making the joke actually has a problem with those things/traits. i usually try to avoid that though; it can end up being unintentionally mean spirited towards individuals who have nothing to do with TRP.

this. i did all kinds of dumb stuff when i was younger and if some dude tried to hold it over my head or use it to try and force me to do something i didn't want to do i'd laugh him out of the room.

except this isn't true. there are people who frequent this very sub in relationships where emotions are shared. if this happened to you then it would seem most likely that it was a problem with the relationship or individuals involved, rather than some absolute truth about relationships in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/15 06:34 PM

yeah I hate having to know about the thoughts or feelings of someone i care about. totally the worst. /s i don't think sharing emotion is a big deal in a ONS situation, but it's pretty weird and unhealthy not to do that in a relationship.

i was going to make my previous comment my last one, but this latest comment of yours was low even for a member of TRP. i'm not butthurt at being proven wrong, because you've proven nothing. i'm just frustrated that i gave trying to have an actual conversation on here another shot, and was proven wrong again when i hoped that it wouldn't just be met with a rude response from some TRP member. your very first reply to me included a comment that was personally directed at me at the very end of it a…

you provided one video showing a handful of people interviewed. so, no. not good enough. too bad. i'm not really interested in continuing this conversation anymore simply based on your tone and the way you've chosen to speak to me, either.

i was genuinely asking a question, and you essentially replied to say i was full of shit, so i responded in kind. if you're going to address people in that tone, don't be surprised when they respond the same way.

is that video (of the opinion of just a few people i don't know or care about) supposed to change my mind? i never said that there aren't male/female friendships that don't cross into something more, just that there are also friendships that don't and they deserve to be acknowledged. if you googled something opposite of your point of view, i'm sure you'd find just as many results to the contrary of what you believe. saying, 'you're wrong,' and then proceeding to make some flip remark about kool-…

Why is there such a huge disconnect between how men and women perceive the issue? is there really such a huge difference? i've seen (non-RP) men already state that they have female friends tons of times (and vice versa), and from what i've seen posted there isn't any crazy scrutiny applied to those relationships; they're just friends. it really seems like more of a disconnect between how RP and non-RP people view it, because RP followers don't believe men and women are capable of having genuine …

that's pretty much how i feel about it. i made a few efforts to discuss and understand in the beginning, but after getting some of the worst responses from TRP members and seeing how they treated pretty much anyone who didn't wholeheartedly agree with them, i realized that it wasn't worth the effort. most days i just read stuff being posted, though on occasion i'll call out something absurd. edit: even tried participating in discussion again today to give it one more shot, and the response was s…

if you believe that actively working to convince yourself that a large group of people are subhuman and worthless so that you can manipulate them for your own gain isn't coming from a place of anger, you probably need to look a little closer. converting blind rage into a quieter, more controlled but deep-seated hate isn't getting over anything.

it seems sort of weird when it gets to the degree of being anti-woman, which she very much seems to be sometimes. it wouldn't be inaccurate to say that i'm also pro-male since i think men are also awesome, but i don't feel or express that to nearly such a manic degree.

the repeated attempts to undress someone who is pushing back and saying no is just a complete lack of respect for that person, and activity that, depending on the situation, can lead to confusion about consent and how one person or the other interpreted what was taking place at that time and with whose permission. it's a bad idea for both people involved, and for both of the reasons mentioned before, it's something that everyone should be more careful about in general. if you're both moving at t…

i never claimed to have some magical absolute knowledge of what women wanted. my comment was regarding what women have clearly stated they do or don't want (they being the authority on that), while yours was based on the assumptions that a man has and you then tried to claim that somehow, a man's guess is more important than a woman's outright claim. try again.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 07:14 PM

o statistics master, please find me an example of two sane people getting divorced solely because sexual consent was part of their marriage. or, give me a fucking break.

i'm not going to even consider the opinion of someone who only sees or hears things that happen to benefit them. nice try though.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 07:08 PM

er, no. having slept with or dated a lot of women doesn't somehow mean a man's opinion of what he thinks women want holds more weight or whatever than what women have confirmed they generally and actually want. the authority on what a person wants is that person, not someone just making guesses from the sidelines.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 06:11 PM
5

true. however, i know other women. and i work with other women. and i'm related to other women. and i talk to other women, and i see other women post online, etc. etc. it's not hard to identify a general opinion about something so simple; in fact, it's harder to ignore it.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 04:37 PM

there are tons of women who don't. women don't universally sleep with men with these traits, and a good portion of us are repulsed by men like that. i mean, you're a woman, so, you know, right?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/02/15 03:32 PM

i believe victims of rape would pretty strongly disagree. besides, plenty of marriages today operate just fine on actual and not implied consent.

so you're saying if the genders were reversed, then you would also give the women the benefit of the doubt? i mean, it already sounds like you're passing negative judgment on the women in those stories even though they are also strangers to you.

would vanderbilt really be comparable an example of a woman willingly staying with someone who mistreats her, though? with that case, it was my understanding that the victim wasn't conscious and didn't know what happened to her, rather than knowing what happened and simply pretending it didn't (unless there's been some recent development i'm not aware of). there are challenges in abusive relationships in either case, it just didn't seem like the best example. edited so that this is not somehow f…

it's almost as if someone being in such turmoil and distress that they turn to a family member for support is unfathomable. there's no lack of understanding that rape is a crime by feminists; i think that's pretty clear. it doesn't change the fact that victims may be so negatively affected by it that they aren't thinking clearly after the fact, sometimes for an extended period of time. there's article after article that explains this and the reasons behind it, and the refusal to acknowledge it i…

this. so much this. i'm now reminded of a local news story from last year. i don't believe it was even fully-formed (as in, a miscarriage), but the school was still treated as a crime scene and there was practically a manhunt for the student mentioned. i would hope it was so that she could receive the medical and probably psychological help she needed, but so many of the news stories were just about how the police wanted to find her and make her answer for what she had 'done.' it's a sad story a…

sadly, that is the same sub that encourages women to blame and find the faults in themselves when they're cheated on, so that they can fix their relationship and become interesting to the men who cheated on them again. no mention of the vows or trust that he broke or that he's pretty much the scum of the earth for what he did; just do anything and everything you can to get him back in your life, regardless of what terrible things he does. there's an occasional voice of reason there, but for the …

aside from the odd commenter, the general consensus seems to be that men and women are indeed different, but should have equal rights without one being inferior or superior to the other. perhaps there are those who frequent the sub and have a deviating opinion; from what i've seen in my time there though, i think most commenters agree that men and women are different. i mean, that's common knowledge in a lot of ways (and by knowledge i mean real knowledge, not twisted TRP 'knowledge').

well that response wasn't at all related to your previous comment, so way to go. i never said i was scared? you were suggesting that the post didn't have value and wasn't representative of the sub, but it's written by someone who has been deemed valuable and representative of the sub which flies right in the face of what you said. are you really so incapable of understanding that you couldn't take that away from my last comment?

neither am i. but you can still appreciate that someone who shares interests and values with you would attract you in one way or another (friendship or romance). if someone possesses a trait or something that you desire, it follows that you might consider taking on that trait for yourself as well (especially considering self improvement is all about being what you perceive to be the best version of yourself anyway).
/r/PurplePillDebate03/02/15 02:09 AM

not entirely. i have improvements to make, and goals left to reach like lots of people. i doubt that i'll ever be someone who claims to be perfect no matter how much i like myself; i don't possess that level of arrogance. but i do enjoy being around people with the same interests, sense of humor, and general aesthetic/style choices so there would be some attraction, whether platonic or romantic.

well of course if you refuse to think that way, it's going to seem impossible. it doesn't really refute my point if the individual is outright refusing any kind of positive thinking or effort. i also wasn't berating you; you just seem to find comfort in claiming helplessness. i don't mean this in an insulting way, so please don't take it that way, but therapy may be something you want to consider. i have several friends that have found it helpful.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/15 05:02 PM
2

you've refused 'be yourself' again and again. i get it. my original comment wasn't about you, but that point of view in general. i'd be happy to discuss that further, but somehow the conversations seem to frequently turn to 'no one likes me, there's nothing i can do.' which isn't something i have interest in really talking about. i didn't bring that up; you did.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/15 04:41 PM
2

there are countless self help books, sites, forums, etc. aimed at resolving issues like this, though. while i can understand feeling helpless, i will eventually stop pitying anyone who doesn't make an effort to change something they find displeasing, or would like to see improved. if you don't like 'be yourself' then fine, ignore it. don't follow it. but at some point, feeling sorry for yourself does become wallowing. you can't really deny that.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/15 04:03 PM
1

i guess i can't relate then. if it were me, and i felt that i were perfectly dateable by my own standards and needed no improvement or further self-acceptance, i probably wouldn't worry that much about what other people thought and would instead focus on other areas of my life (career, hobbies). that would be a hell of a lot better than feeling helpless.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/15 03:27 PM
1

that may not be an entirely bad way to approach it though. considering whether or not you yourself are someone you would date might actually be beneficial, especially if you're trying to attract people that specifically meet your standards. it's by no means the only thing to take into consideration when it comes to self-improvement, but definitely worth a thought.

if they were broken up, i don't think there were any restrictions on either of them having sex with other people. granted, I haven't seen this movie so I'm basing this response on solely the summary above. it's probably a little shady for either the ex or the friend to keep it a secret, though; were I in that situation, I'd be pretty hurt by having something like that kept from me, especially considering the ex ends up pregnant. considering the feelings of both exes in the story though, it sound…

/r/PurplePillDebate29/01/15 01:16 PM

this seems like an obvious yes, though i can't say i really subscribe much to TRP's definitions surrounding topics like smv. i don't know why the expectation is that women will feel less sympathy for male acquaintances either, if you're being serious.

good for them, I suppose; one way or another, they did something that made them happy. some of it does sound unusual, like the self-proposal or model for photos, but if it's what they wanted, so be it. it seems sad that some of these have what I personally feel are odd motivations (why not remain single, and still go on nice trips and focus on yourself?) but I'm also none of these women and living in a different situation so I may just be unable to relate. overall though, if it made them happy a…

i will dismiss arguments that are absurd, as yours tend to be. a quick google brought up the following: 1 2 3 4 those situations aren't common for most people, but women protect their loved ones too. i'm not sure why you would try to suggest otherwise, when that could easily be proven wrong but hey! at least it resulted in everyone being a little more enlightened.

Self sacrifice to save their spouse. this just in: TRP and RPW exist in perpetual action-movie land where things like this happen all the time. women can and will just as easily sacrifice themselves for their partner, if they had to; i know i certainly would. i don't know why that's such an unfathomable idea but then again... it's RP we're talking about.

As I said, both sides are abusive. Some abuse may be necessary to get what you want and reach an optimal outcome. Let's not call it abuse due to the extremely negative connotation, just think of it as compromise. You do what your partner wants you to do, and in exchange, they stay with you. Seems like an equal exchange. No one is being pressured into anything - you always have the option to opt out. if abuse is what is being discussed then it should still be called abuse. changing the name to so…

i'd say my opinion mostly matches this; some people may not enjoy or desire sex but can still have affection for a partner, so i don't think it's fair to say that unconditionally, affection = sex. i also agree with OP that there are acts of affection and intimacy outside of sex as well. personally sex isn't a huge deal to me, but i understand that others consider it a higher priority.

i would generally agree; any individual who is walking around in a blind rage or general hateful outlook on society and other people is likely dangerous and probably shouldn't have access to weapons (ideally). and of course, that applies to people in general, not just those who possess RP beliefs. it's more of an ideal though; i don't doubt that people who want to hurt other people will find a way to do it without weapons anyway, sadly.

i don't really see anything wrong with that, so long as no one was harmed in the process of him doing this for himself (which seems unlikely). it's not much different than practicing a speech or something... and if it had a positive impact on this guy, good for him.

I wouldn't find it odd, so long as it wasn't asked in an awkward way or too soon after we met. it's just my personal opinion, but I think I'd sort of respect someone more for asking, if they weren't sure but felt that things were going well. I'm still not sure why you brought twox into this since as far as I can tell it's never leaned RP, but i can still try thinking of it as an example of a group of people. it should go without saying that teaching your son the risks of sexual situations (and hopefully how to avoid pressuring or forcing someone into sex) is important once he reaches the appropriate age. as far as parental influence goes I suppose the former would be more reasonable, with lower chances of your child having an unheal…

for me, both types are a dealbreaker. i would much rather go through the pain and suffering of splitting from someone who isn't devoted to me, than staying by their side. one of those periods of suffering lasts a lot longer than the other, and if i'm with someone who's interested in someone else either sexually or emotionally... well, i guess i feel like i would be wasting my time at that point. it's probably one of the few things i just can't tolerate.

i appreciate your insight based on your experiences in RP, but i've witnessed outrage from some RP members upon being generalized so i can't say it's entirely accurate. not all of them, of course (heh), but there are certainly some negative reactions to it. based on what i've seen in the discussions here, there isn't really anything that i think would convince me that only non RP individuals have negative responses to generalizations like AWALT even though that seems to be what several RP member…

i was saying that i've seen a negative reaction from RP members when they are generalized, such as 'you're all a bunch of misogynist woman haters!' the response to that judgment, from RP, is typically negative. i would say there's a decent amount of individuals on both sides that probably react to such generalizations negatively. but hey, why consider that when you can always just scoff and pretend it's not real in order to make whatever point you're making?
