So glad I was friends with that "mean friend" in hs. Turned out she wasn't mean- she just didn't take shit. She taught me so much about boundaries... Someday I'll make a post about her because she showed me some great tricks for weeding out LV people from your life. No surprise she's now dating a super HVM in a healthy relationship, tho I have no doubt she'd drop him like hot coals if he ever did anything to hurt her. She even set me up with an actual HV guy back in high school 💁🏼‍♀️ she's an FD…

Yup! This also happens among siblings. My brother used to hit, bite, and beat me up as a kid. But I was also punished alongside him for 'provoking him'. I'm sure I could be annoying, but this essentially taught me that it was my fault if a boy assaulted me, and taught him that violence was just a logical retaliation against verbal taunts. I remember a couple times when I didn't even actually do anything to 'provoke' him, and he attacked me, and I still got punished. Like once I didn't want to pl…

Imagine trying to insult someone for desiring healthy, loving, pleasurable, and respectful sex. Embarrassing really 🤡

I hate this! Men will randomly neg you about anything, good or bad. Just remember: right now it's "oh he must have broken you," but soon it will be "are you sure the supervisor position is right for you?" and then finally "hey! Who gave this woman the right to fire me?" Don't let it get to you. It says everything about him and his character and nothing about you.

The handbook has a great post about how crushes can detract value from your life! After reading that post & thinking about my own standards and requirements for a partner, I've also created a requirement for myself in a relationship: I won't date someone whom I'm infatuated with. It was hard for me to set this boundary for myself, because crushes feel SO good. But I also recognize that, because of social conditioning thru media and bad role models growing up, I'm often drawn to a 'fixer upper'. …

When I was a kid I was put in an enrichment summer school tech class. All boys except me and one other girl. The boys had a conversation very similar to this one (we were all like TWELVE keep in mind) and then began taunting us. One boy came up close saying r*pe threats to us. The other girl attacked him and beat him up until our male teacher separated them (funny how he didn't think to intervene until a boy was being threatened). Then she and I got punished. 🙄🙄 Anyway the two of us became best …

And people have the audacity to say the patriarchy doesn't exist when misogyny and violence have been upheld by one of the oldest institutions in the world, as recently as 30 years ago in an industrialized nation... 😕 And in many countries, marital r*pe is still not considered a crime. I pray that can change for all the women and girls around the world who have no legal recourse yet to penalize their abusers. This is one of the countless reasons why we still need feminism.

I have been a huge fan of FDS for like 1 year but never felt a need to join Reddit to post. Well that changed today... I showed a male family member the homeless guy interview and was like 'wow... That's so dumb, I'd never do that. Imagine having such low self esteem' and he lost his marbles 😭😭 bro literally went on this whole rant about how I was being super judgemental. I stuck by it and said it's a stupid decision to marry someone who will drain your finances. (These were the ONLY 2 comments …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
