See, this explains it. You're just wasting time. Most experts advise new lifters to stay away from machine weights and use freeweights- specifically a barbell. You should be doing squats, bench, deadlifts, cleans, overhead press, and barbell rows as your CORE lifts. These are compound movements that will make you big and strong.
