Therefore I, I'm sorry, I didn't understood the question one bit. That said, I've always found the title 'Reader's Digest' slightly distasteful. Perhaps it is because I speak English as a second language, but the mental image I get from the title of the magazine (?) is that of predigested food that's somehow intended for human consumption. Which is just plain wrong.

I don't know. I come here sporadically, lurk for a bit and leave, as I'm not really invested in the debate. That said, a heated and emotional argument, even if it isn't civil, is much more interesting to read than a pseudoacademical debate involving wordy essays, requests for studies or scholarly articles proving the point of said essays, arguments about the validity of the provided source, etc. That has been done ad nauseum here and, while it may be more correct and factually accurate, isn't li…

I had the same question, but I polled as BP first and stopped just shy of RP. Couldn't bring myself to poll as them. Now I wish I could unpoll myself from BP - fair's fair, I don't subscribe to either. So, count that as -1 for EEurope for BP.

Well, in order for it to count as humor, it would need to be funny, I think. So no worries about that. I could (and have) go on about the the similarities and differences between the traditional Eastern European mindset and RP thinking, but it's slightly tiresome to repeat it constantly. Similarities exist, but there are fundamental differences as well.

It doesn't really show either party in a positive light. The man employs a shit test of his own, but as a man, I'd be quite hostile towards anyone using his tone with me and for that reason I find it hard to judge this conversation objectively. I will admit, however, that I don't really feel sorry for the woman either. It makes sense, though. If you look for dysfunctional people on purpose, you can't cry foul if they behave as such.

Oh well, I am not busy and reminiscing is kind of fun. I hope that is not a sign of me getting old. A common cultural tradition - in the sense that our parent's generation had done it and the generation before them as well, so it made sense for them and was even endorsed, because it is something boys are supposed to do - was that after social events that end late, such as plays, concerts, school dances, etc. groups of boys would walk groups of girls home. Namely, the entire group, showing off an…

I went to school in the late 1990s in small town East Europe, graduating and enrolling in university in 2001 and am only sharing it because it was a time and place that is different from the most of this thread. In short, I was a nearshighted kid with glasses, second hand store clothing, wrote for the student newspaper and had good grades, but I was not a rat, had a lot of friends, wrote homework for money and was well regarded. Had a girlfriend for a whole glorious two weeks and a major friendz…

The difference being that I am not emotionally invested into your future and will keep sleeping soundly even if the poetic justice of someone with views like yours living through a great fear of theirs will evade you. No skin off my back, in other words.

I will torture and kill a woman for some shit like that. That's a red line that doesn't get crossed with me. But don't worry, it will never happen because I'm only interested in being in an LTR with a quality woman. Quality white women don't behave that way. oh well. how exactly do you type this out and then look in a mirror and say - hmm, yes, this is what a normal and well adjusted man with a bright future ahead of him would say, yes sir.

In polite society these days, obvious racism invalidates any point you may be trying to make. Not that it matters on the grand scheme of things, but it discredits your TRP buddies as well. Something something the company you keep.

As a born and raised Eastern European man, who was initially sympathetic to TRP due to my own experience and first hand knowledge of Eastern European women, I can't stop finding this belief hilarious. Sorry, mate. There's a reason why it used so common for Eastern European men to drink themselves into early graves so eagerly. Women and their expectations of male roles may have something to do with it.

There's a world outside the internet, you know. For example, this is an offline strategy. I'd go for girls who are naturally pretty but don't know/care how to present themselves well.

No purpose. Just brcause this brand of persuasion works on men as well as women. One group you shag, the other admires your wisdom.

So PPD do you think it's possible that the TRP may, inadvertently, be making men feel worse about themselves by implying men aren't good enough? Nah, it's deliberate, not inadvertent.

It is a great idea, but I think that for way too many people such a community would be too similar to voluntary kolkhoz. Even without the heritage of forced collectivization, Soviet collective farms are often informally brought up as an example that a collective effort towards a common good cannot work due to both selfishness and laziness of it's members.

Not Skypeland, one of the other two, but, aside from the language, the differences are inconsequential. The outlier of CEE might be Poland, as Catholicism is an important part of their culture and I've heard that outside of big cities people can be quite conservative and traditionally minded. I am not saying the Eastern mindset is superior though. It has a lot of it's own problems.

Another Eastern European chiming in. I'm from one of the Baltics, the country cluster that's halfway between Russia and Scandinavia both geographically and culturally and is selling out to both simultaneously. Is dark, cold and difficult, yes? I agree that the stereotypes about Eastern Europeans are often misguided and TRP stereotypes about EE men and women more than most, but there is some point to the strength of the traditional gender roles. One of the reasons for the difference, in my opinio…

The most interesting threads are started when I don't have the time to follow them. Oh well, a quick one with my morning coffee. Yes and no. TRP is essentially a reactionary ideology, which is why it has a lot of appeal for socially conservative types, as it fits within a way of thinking they're intimately familiar with and meshes well with the idea of moral decay that commonly espoused by conservatives worldwide. Someone on the left, could, however, relatively easily subscribe to similar and co…

There are things they do not know, and they are not even aware that they lack knowledge. Eh, I'm tempted to call it naivete instead and give it a pass, as this sort of advice is given in good faith, in my opinion. It is not particularly useful, though, you're right about that. There's a few points in the OP, I'd be interested to see discussed here in more detail, but I don't have the time to participate in a discussion or even follow one today.

My impression is that the main difference is that direct or heavily implied value judgement is an essential part of TRP's belief framework, while more conventional sources will either bypass value judgement altogether, leaving it to the consumer's discretion or adopt/recommend a 'live/let live' approach.

I think (but I'm not sure, not being a TRP convert and not subscribing to the beliefs myself) that the idea is that even the women with the lowest SMV are valued higher than non-alpha men of comparable age, so most women (ignoring the outliers) will nonetheless have more options and opportunities than a low value man. At the same time, the relative scarcity of high value men and the competition between women for the same category of men makes it possible for men who are not natural high value al…

Thoughts, yay? Nay? Mixed. The advice is not untrue and the principle of it is correct, but I feel "the truth" is a bit more nuanced than that. You certainly can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar and any attempts to disguise one as the other will be laughably transparent to anyone with half a clue, but anyone seriously in the market for life-changing advice will need understand more than that to change themselves.

You're someone with a gambling habit, who's been trying to increase his ROI with a new betting system you've discovered in your favourite semi-secret forum. It totally works for the other dudes, all of which post from their Costarican beachfront properties they've bought with their winnings. You yourself are not quite there yet - a miscalculation here, a missed chance there, a voided play at that one shitty place - but it totally works and it is only a matter of time until there's a fair on your…

I'm not a TBP member, ally, advocate or even lurker, but there are common claims from TRP members that I do find questionable. Mostly because I find that my own concern in gender dynamics is directly proportional to my sexual frustration. Namely, the longer I go without having sex, the more interested in the reasons behind it I become and vice versa - if I get laid often enough and well enough, I could not care less as to what other people do with their lives and why. That is also why the countl…

Yeah, I'm aware of the idiom. In fact, I'm thinking that there might be another one - just as applicable: It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. What I'm trying to say with this is that the people attracted by the ideology are in the unenviable position of having never loved at all and do not really understand what it is that they are losing. They cannot see the use of what they are giving up, because it has never been worthwhile for them.

Short nitpick first - I would hardly call it 'romantic' life as romance implies emotional involvement, which, I think, is not seen as very desirable. As to the rest of your comment and the nose/face analogy, it assumes that potential redpillers who consciously embrace this ideology are fully aware of what they are trying to give up and realize it's value. Cutting off your nose has immediate and obvious drawbacks, while those of knowingly shutting a part of your personality out, are not nearly as…

I absolutely do not want to defend TRP, but I cannot fully agree with your opinion either. It gets you laid, but it makes you stupider, meaner, and uglier. For a sexually frustrated person, replacing one way of lacking emotional intelligence (naiviete and learned helplessness) with another one (cynicism) must seem a very reasonable trade-off. After all, whatever they did before that, did not work in their favour.

Hold it right there. On one hand, there's plenty of characters, scenes and quotes in classic literature that would fit right in. On the other, do you mean that the Paolo Coelho equivalent of the post war generation that every teenage girl since the 1940s has held in high esteem due to it's sappiness goes against mainstream knowledge? I will need to check the translation in my own language, something's amiss with that quote. Alright, it might be a difference in translation, but the context of the…

I will try to word this very carefully, because it is not my intent to troll anyone. I sincerely believe that the same qualities that enable people to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become good engineers, do not lend themselves well to learn to evaluate media critically during formative years. So, in the absence of positive real life experience, it could lead to uncritical acceptance of non-existent relationship models, as perpetuated by media, especially media deemed suitable for ch…

I believe it's owed more to cycling, than anything else. Germany also has legal and widespread prostitution, yet Germans - men and women alike - are rarely noticeably fit.

The issues have been a very common theme in literature ever since the advent of literary realism a couple of centuries ago. Most writers worthy of the name have a keen perception of the human nature and often flesh their works out with characters and themes that relate to societal issues. Madame Bovary is the earliest example that comes to mind immediately. I tried finding a good quote, but the plot summary on Wiki just does it: edit: too long, just read the plot summary on wikipedia.

Alright, first things first. I did not realize you were a moderator. Will you be able to tolerate a sympathizing, but dissenting opinion that strays from the apparent party line, if I agree to not to criticize Tomassi without adequately supporting my arguments? If not, I agree that I don't belong here. Secondly - once again you have absolutely no idea which side I'm actually coming from.

Don't make me laugh, mate. You don't know me and you don't know what I'm and what I'm not feeding from. That said, it's irrelevant for this particular argument. This particular blog piece, though, is about as intellectually honest as the Zion Elder's Protocols and about as clearly written as the Timecube guy's site. I'm very familiar with one of the cities he went to in Eastern Europe. One he didn't have much success in either, actually. Somebody tweeted about his report, I read it, then the comments, then some forum, and eventually, a couple of months later, ended up here. It's been an interesting couple of months, but I digress. I have lived in that city, have been to the same clubs, so I had a pretty good idea of what the situations he described were. In short, his frame of reference doesn't work here ei…

And the american PUA-type of guy would also be ostracized, both by women and men. That's quite accurate, from what I know from hanging out with Scandinavian expats abroad. Check Roosh's reports on Sweden and Denmark, they're quite neat. For someone who claims to be on top of things, he's got no game (or social skills really) there and apparently really hates Denmark.

Absolutely not. I think you will see comparable thinking across all societies with limited social mobility and economic insecurity. I'm Eastern European and in my personal experience this this train of thought is common in many Eastern European men, while it seems less common in men from Nordic and Western European countries. On a non-anecdotal basis, there are also passages that acknowledge hypergamy in heavily stratified societies in The Spirit Level by Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett. Unfo…

I reject the alpha/beta dichotomy altogether, so I don't think either of the camps is correct. PUAs and all their wannabe gurus have a vested interest in directly or indirectly humiliating the so-called betas in their writing. It aims at the insecurities that many men feel and gets them new customers for their books, videos and seminars and drives traffic to their websites, while validating their philosophy. I recommend you to read between their lines. MRAs and MGTOWs (sorry about bunching them …
