Honestly a few months sounds too long for me. We had the “what are we” conversation about 2-3 weeks after our first date and I wouldn’t have had sex with him before ascertaining we were in a real relationship. We were 24F and 26M, and he certainly wasn’t lacking options as a high earning man who was also a 6’4 tall CrossFit addict. Now 10 years together next month, 6.5 years married with 2 kids, another on the way. Know your worth and don’t let them get all the GF benefits without the title.

Asian here - about a 6-7 in looks but a 9 in the academic department. Graduated top 1% in my state for high school, graduated with a university medal for my bachelor degree in pharmaceutical science. I was never hit on by random men (other than the creeps at work 🙄 ) but had a few male friends fall in love with me though I wasn’t really attracted to any of them. I was fit, loved hiking, did weights at the gym and had tonnes of hobbies. I’m also a mean cook/baker/sewist/photographer and a workaho…

Marrying a masculine, intelligent, successful yet supportive and courteous man. He made me feel safe to be in touch with my feminine side. I didn’t have to do it all, be responsible of it all, I don’t have to steer the ship. He just wants a happy wife as it gives him a happy life.

Yes and no. I started having kids at 29, now 33. The nesting instinct kicked in but I never wanted to quit my career. Exclusively breastfed babies, cloth nappies, sourdough baking, making meals and snacks from scratch, sewing kids outfits, the whole lot. I had 6 months off with each baby (we have two kids, 3yo and 1yo) and returned to work full time. Still doing all of the above. Still part of a church community. Still considering buying a business and running it myself in a couple years time.

Thank you, yes there is indeed light at the end of this tunnel and I’ve learned a lesson about overworking myself!

I don’t have the severity of EDS but definitely enough to cause laxity related issues so do I qualify to be a Zebra 😅

Yeah, and he lets baby stay up from 4am or 5:30am if he can’t get her back to sleep. I don’t exactly want this to become a habit so I do most wakes. And TBH he’s less functional than me the next day after no sleep and we need his income so I sleep in while he takes the kids every morning. He doesn’t ever get to sleep in and he deals with toddler’s occasional night wakes as I refuse to wake up to both children. He also makes hot breakfast unless he’s on morning shift (or got calls overnight). We’…

I have apologised and I did thank him for the time away as soon as I got home and didn’t mention the call. Problem is the same issues that led us to this point are still happening and we’re both still pushed to breaking point. Baby had a fever last night so I didn’t even get even an hour stretch of sleep (he sleeps in a different room as we don’t need both parents awake at night with the baby), and I’m heading into a 12 hour shift shortly. He does most of the house chores this week as I’m now do…

I would’ve loved to stay at my parents, but they live in a different country. Husband was suggesting I stay at HIS parents’ and I told him this wouldn’t be relaxing haha. Not only would I have to answer 20 questions I’d also inevitably get the “I had 3 kids and no help from my husband you just gotta do what you gotta do” talk so hotel was the best option for a night away. Thank you for the suggestions. I’ll definitely have a chat when things settle down though I don’t know how far away it’ll be.…

I am genuinely curious too. He texted me to ask if I was awake, which woke me up. I thought it must have been an emergency if he contacted me at stupid o’clock during my escape time. But it wasn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️ He ended the chat as soon as I said I thought it was an emergency and I went back to sleep until 8am. Probably wasn’t thinking straight from the lack of sleep, which I could fully understand as I had started doing stupid things too before my “reset”.

I’m not against sleep training and I did it with my first baby. However teething and consecutive illnesses (I’m talking mouth/throat ulcers, bouts of pneumonia, ear infections…) have hit us hard and I don’t want to leave a sick baby or a baby in pain to cry. She’s a good sleeper when she’s not sick or teething.

Ours was 6 weeks 😂 we booked the wedding venue 3 months before the wedding and he proposed 6 weeks before that. No, not a shotgun wedding. I just wasn’t interested in a long engagement.

Yeah. It wasn’t easy but I’m glad I did. It tells him that I will not stay in a situation I am not okay with. It’s not like he had got w no warning. I have a mum friend who asked her partner when he’d propose and he said “you’re on probation till next year” 😳 they already have a 3yo kid together! I told my husband if he’d said that I’d pack up and leave, and he replied “You did…”

I met my husband when I was 24 and he was 26. He was university educated, earning 6 figures and a CrossFit addict with a 6-pack. We dated for 1.5 years and he still wasn’t ready to propose (and still didn’t know when he would be!) so I left 🤷🏻‍♀️. A year later we got back together with the condition of us getting married within 12 months, and we did. So we were 27 and 30 when we got married, which fits the 27-33 bracket. I always say that I was both the practice wife and the eventual wife haha.

It depends on the man and the relationship. My now husband and I had this stand off 1.5 years after we started dating - I didn’t want to move in before I got a ring, he wanted to live together for at least a year before he’d even consider proposing. At this stage he hadn’t even said I love you, wanted me to move across the country with him and insisted on separate finances even after marriage and kids. I didn’t want any kids and this man wanted 4! I left. We reconnected a year later, we agreed o…

I didn’t post anything about us until 3 years in, but changed status when we got engaged then married. I’m very active on Facebook but he isn’t. I was a bit miffed at the start but we went out with his friends and family all the time so I knew I wasn’t being hidden.

Thank you! Very keen to not be pregnant anymore haha. The thought of entering the workforce at a later age with no/outdated qualifications and next to no formal work experience (and no savings or superannuation!) is more than enough to convince me to never stay at home for years even if I weren’t the workaholic, not-built-to-be-a-stay-at-home type. Turns out our first daughter wasn’t built to a stay at home baby either hahaha. I’ve come from a long line of strong women who (in a third world coun…

I’ll agree with your view here. We don’t earn anywhere near that much but when we met we were both workaholics and he saw me working 18-26 days in a row across 3 different towns to further my career and pursue financial independence. He was earning 3x what I did at the time but we earned the same amount last year. Well pregnancy is hell on earth for me so he told me I could quit working if I wanted to and he’d support us all. I still work 1-2 days a week (35w pregnant with our second, armed with…

Building trust - Travelling abroad alone on Valentine’s Day would be the first thing I would compromise on. It’s a traditionally a day for couples to reconnect and rediscover romance - I would be upset too if my husband wanted to leave me alone for 4 days. Could you pick a different day that’s significant for you but less important for him? You’ve mentioned suddenly dressing up and putting on more makeup - then at the same time wanting to take off to see the world. You may not have any other int…

It could also be an incompatibility. My then boyfriend had no issues with me travelling alone or with my girlfriends. He’s more of a homebody than me and he understands I wouldn’t be happy he restricted my need for exploring the world. Me forcing him to travel with me would’ve ended up in a miserable holiday for both of us. We have now been married for 4 years (together almost 8 years) with 1 child and another on the way. I’ve taken our daughter overseas to see my parents, I’ve taken her on day …
