But there’s nothing associated with the job which makes it easy/beneficial for either sex. When you take customer reps or sales staff, women tend to have an advantage as they are appeasing to more clientele. It’s also way more challenging to climb from 300k->500k than it is from 80k->150k. I’d guess the percentage of people in Amazon who make more than 500k is less than 1% (ignoring stock appreciation). More than 500k translates to l7, which is equivalent to owning a product area, impacting neighboring teams and tutoring l5s. Unless they are joining as an experienced hire. Even if they do, the amount of impact they can have in terms of the dollar amount they can bring into the company is limited (which ultimately decides their comp). Most people start OF, just to realize they need to put in a significant amount of effort and money before they see returns.
