I'm really not trying to mud sling here. Red Pillers as I've seen view men as more powerful and capable and appreciate Machiavellianism. I'm not trying to say that as an argument against Red Pill, just that those are two traits that seem to be valued within the community.

Interesting, but I was going on the track of your original comment where you said, "Even most blue men will agree a red life would be preferred." Seems like that describes someone who specifically identifies with blue, but would rather be red. What shortcomings and improvements are you referencing?

We were talking about people who are offended by misogyny though. Viewing women as inferior is a already a misogynistic stance, no name-calling required. So as for the people who do not like misogyny or hostility, how are they secretly Red Pill?

But if they don't like misogyny or hostility (which seem to be two elements that Red Pillers praise), how are they secretly Red Pill?

If they are red in both outlook and views on female nature, what problems do they address with Red Pill? It seems like pretty roundabout logic to say that a lot of people claim to side with Blue, argue in favor of blue, but are actually Red.

Where are these blue pillers who say that red pill is better? Most people who aren't red pill simply don't have a sexual strategy at all. I've found that there are more interesting things to do in life than acquire sex. Sure, leaders beat followers, but some of us aren't interested in turning sexuality into a power structure.

It looks like it has already been said, but the main goal is happiness. Everyone has different means of achieving that goal. It's like asking: how do you define success when it comes to running? Some people train for the 100m sprint, some for the 400m, some for hurdles, some for relays, some for marathons, etc. Marathon runners don't tend to be gold-medal sprinters and vice versa. All of them are successful in their own way. The success you want may not be the success I want. Nobody is greater o…

But legality aside, I think anyone but a sociopath would view it as immoral to threaten an innocent person's life for your advantage. In the case of drug dealers, it's pretty damn immoral to prey on someone's addiction for your advantage. Likewise, I think it's immoral to prey on someone's low self esteem for your advantage. I get why drug dealers sell drugs and I get why aggressive men wanting sex continue to be aggressive. But I don't think it's fair to leave the solution solely to the victims…

It's still on you to be a decent person. If I bring a gun into a bank, they'll probably give me all the money I want. It doesn't mean that I'm justified in my armed robbery because they enabled me by handing over cash. It's an extreme example, but being dominant and receiving what you want does not mean that it is good behavior. I feel like a lot of TRP tactics prey on women with low self esteem. Being an asshole to women will attract them only if they rely on you for validation to begin with. S…

I agree with you that growing up without approval can be psychologically damaging. I also don't see anything wrong with wanting it. It's the believing that it's necessary that creates problems. I'm sorry if you grew up without approval, but part of being an adult is dealing with hard problems. You can't apply a band aid to heal a festering wound. Childhood trauma festers. And for the record, I have been depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts. I didn't get out of it with RP, I got out of it …

I can understand how lack of approval in childhood can lead to problems later. But victims of child abuse are outliers. The average person received some degree of approval from his or her parents. And in the same way that you no longer need someone to feed and clothe you, a developed adult should not rely on the approval of others.

I am not attempting to deny that by living in modern society, you will receive approval. I am arguing against the idea that approval is something akin to a physiological need.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/16 03:51 PM

I don't think it's dangerous to not get enough approval. I think it's more equivalent to drug withdrawal - painful, but essential to work through. Learning to live without the need for approval is the only way I've found to be comfortable with oneself. Also, I find it interesting how you seem to believe in a lot of biological hardwiring of our behavior, but also believe you can change your behavior with RP methods to gain an advantage. Where do you draw a distinction between the parts of you tha…

I'm more interested in why you want approval than why people generally do. I find approval to be a very dangerous drug. When abused, it can start to feel essential to a person's self worth.

It sounds like being highly regarded and impressing others is important to you. Why is that? I also noticed that the examples you gave were about women. Do you seek approval from men to a similar degree?

You mention that RP tactics have a higher success rate. Success at what things in particular? What are your goals? I personally know a couple who are in the circumstance where the woman makes more than the man. He's an HVAC technician making ~$60k/year and she's CFO of a regional corporation making ~$250k/year. Frankly, they are both ruthless hardasses, and they deeply respect each other.

The authors of the book that fact came from did a lot of research that was quite highly regarded. It came out around the same time as the Kinsey studies. And I think it should go without saying that Japanese culture is probably not best described by their pornographic cartoons...

I have no problem with what you are attracted to. Though I still don't think that all of it is just biology. Society does at the very least play a role. This article provides some decent references to research on the subject of breasts. One study reviewed 191 cultures, with only 13 considering breasts to be sexually important and just 9 preferring large breasts. And given that there are pornographic genres featuring women of every shape, size, color, race, and everything else you could distingui…

Right. Societal attractiveness is simply what is least attainable. I just don't abide by what society tells me I should find attractive. I find it to be a limited perspective. There are tanning salons for white people in the US to make themselves darker. People naturally have light skin, so tan skin becomes attractive. Go to India, and they sell skin whitening cream everywhere. People naturally have dark skin, so light skin becomes attractive. Also, because malnourishment still exists there, mos…

We're attracted to self-esteem. Go back in history and the fat people were attractive. They had the wealth and power. Largeness was a sign of prosperity. And frankly, size doesn't change how attractive I find a woman. I've never met a woman who was legitimately only attracted to tall men. However, I've met plenty of men who have low self-esteem because they are short. I think it's natural to feel unsafe starting a relationship with someone who has slept around a lot. But I see a bit of a double …
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:43 PM
1

Well if it's a socially based double standard, I don't see any reason to keep living by it. It's also born into our biology to have reasoning as to what is beneficial and what is not. We could chase down our prey to eat, or we could create farms. One method is not "natural", but it's a whole lot smarter. We could declare winners and losers in sex, or it could be for mutual benefit. We craft the future.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:31 PM
1

I'm a bit confused as to how this proves your point. The co-author of the study even stated: "Gender differences may reflect a socially based double standard for sexual activity," said Dr. Zimet. "Early sexual activity for boys apparently is not considered as socially unacceptable as it is for girls." There was nothing about evolutionary psychology making one gender want sex and the other not want it. It just suggested a stigma about sex toward one gender and not the other.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:22 PM
1

Can you link that study? There's nothing wrong with having consensual casual sex, it doesn't necessarily have to do with self esteem. But it still doesn't give me a logical reason to deem a winner and loser of a sex act.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:10 PM
0

Then why isn't that true in my experience? When I have sex, it's with the goal of mutual pleasure. It's not a game of baseball, it's a pizza. We decide what we want to do, we do it together, and we're both satisfied. I get how that autonomous response is how we got this far, but I don't experience it, and I haven't been with a partner who has either.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:01 PM
1

I'm not attempting to deny how evolution got us here. The pleasure response may be an evolutionary adaptation to encourage reproduction, but nowadays we just want the pleasure part, at least in terms of casual sex. If both partners derive pleasure and nobody expects a pregnancy, I just don't see how there could be a winner and a loser.

So if a person never admits to lying, we can assume what they say is true? Of course some humans are flawed, and of course some people lie. Once again, I'm not here to prove that everything she says is true, only that it's a plausible story.

It's possible to consider yourself ugly despite being societally attractive. Body dysmorphia is a real thing, and a lot of people who get plastic surgery have it. Her post said she got underbite surgery at 19, then a corrective surgery at 24. I don't see the inconsistency, I just see an additional surgery. Plastic surgery can happen quickly after consideration. It's done in private clinics, not in hospitals that are backed up with life-saving surgery. I'm not here to prove she's telling the trut…

Again, if you want to argue my reasoning, that's fine. I'm not interested in petty trivialities at this point. edit: we already went through how jaw surgery generally takes 3 months tops to recover from, but can be just 1. Her post describing going from alone to being a sugar baby (which she said happened very suddenly) was 2 months ago. I fail to see the relevance of your comment.

Well if the best argument you have left is a laugh and sarcasm, I am content.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:38 AM

Yes, and it also shows that her jaw surgery happened quite a while before you thought it did, giving plenty of recovery time. And gives a reasoning as to why she does it despite receiving parental support. And is consistent with the line of work she describes. I can't imagine that line of work is always a consistent income. I'm sorry you don't have as many reasons to call bullshit as you thought you did.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/16 05:34 AM
1

A quick search on jaw contouring shows that recovery can take as little as a month, but usually about three. It is absolutely possible to have multiple cosmetic surgeries done at once, so 100 days is a reasonable amount of time. Once you've changed your appearance (or at least made the attempt), I can imagine that it becomes very tempting to continue, hence the addiction. That, and millionaires don't necessarily want TRP's version of the perfect woman. She sleeps with him, she's not a trophy. So…

If you're skeptical, her comment history makes several mentions to plastic surgery. You don't become worth $10 million by paying fair market value on everything. And having failed out of college twice due to depression myself, despite having a stellar first few semesters, that part of her story is perfectly plausible. It hits everyone differently, and sometimes you don't even know someone has it at all until they crack unexpectedly.

I don't think that most blue pillers would disagree that sexual strategy can fall within morality, even by the guidelines of golden rule ethics. The problem is that sexual strategy as described within TRP often falls outside of that sort of morality, and TRP doesn't seem to make a distinction between their moral and immoral strategies. It's like, if I'm in school, and my goal is to get a 4.0, I'm interested in employing some sort of "grade strategy". Studying the course material is a good idea. …

Speaking as someone who has been depressed to the point of suicidal thoughts, one of the best things I did for myself was fill my time. Giving myself more responsibilities not only gave me the sense of purpose that I needed, but it gave me less time for self-loathing. Depression isn't usually circumstantial. That's the difference between sadness and depression. I fell into depression when on the outside, it looked like everything was going right for me. So, yes, depression is absolutely possible even once you've obtained a master's degree.

This doesn't quite make sense to me. Sure, if sex is solely for procreation, I guess it makes sense within a strictly hierarchical framework. But when I go to a fancy restaurant, I'm not thinking "this will give me the correct proportion of nutrients that I need to survive", I'm thinking, "this is going to taste really good and make me feel good". Your initial statement isn't how I perceive things. I think that's a remnant of an outdated society. I don't love women for their mere existence any more than I love men for their mere existence. I appreciate humanity, but I really don't draw a distinction. I agree that it's unfair for both sexes, which is why I make the effort to not abide by it. Again though, why? As an independent male, shouldn't I be allowed to pick the traits I like and not be constrained by rules and other people's definitions of what I should be? Likewise, shouldn't women be allowed the same freedom? I don't see anything wrong with personal preference, but I also don't see a reason to lose respect for someone who lives differently.

Why do you believe that being strong, tough, stoic, etc. is the best option for a happy life? Honestly curious about this, I've just had the experience that a degree of vulnerability is essential for happiness and good relationships. I'd like to hear a different perspective.

Oh okay, I agree with you that sex without emotional commitment is horrible. I guess I was a bit confused by where you said "it can be dangerous to believe that your girl is also your friend". Thank you, I appreciate your perspective on this. I get what you mean with molding effect, but in my experience, it's been a trait of insecurity, not gender. An emotionally intimate relationship without sex sounds more to me like having a best friend than having a pet. Would you say that it is impossible for a woman to relate to you? Man here, and very confused about this obsession with sex. I mean, I don't think I would be satisfied in an LTR with no sex, but I really don't put that high of an importance on it. But that's what I'm saying. The premises are Red Pill and Blue Pill. Purple Pill is not a premise. The 2012 debate between Obama and Romney was not based on some DemoPublican or RepubliCrat ideology, it was Democrat vs. Republican. The debate itself has no set of beliefs.

The same reason we debate anything. Nobody intentionally holds beliefs that they know to be wrong. Through debate and rational discussion, hopefully we can all individually figure out our unintentional wrongness and become more right. Red Pill and Blue Pill represent two very opposite viewpoints. There's a lot of room for debate within that spectrum.

Aggressive competition and domination != violence From the article: The current article addresses gender issues that become magnified in prison settings This is a clear reference to the fact that this is a specific issue that affects the male gender. The relation between hegemonic masculinity and toxic masculinity is examined. Hegemonic masculinity is inherently a traditional gender role structure that values the dominance of men. No need for condescension, I know what a prison is. The point is that the study makes no reference to violence. It makes reference to how the traditional male gender role makes inmates less receptive to therapy. The harm created by adhering to the traditional male gender role is referred to as toxic masculinity. Anyway, we've been discussing the term in context for awhile now. Is your stance still that toxic masculinity does not exist?

So toxic masculinity has been used in academia and is meaningless to those with more than two brain cells? From what you posted: Toxic masculinity involves the need to aggressively compete and dominate others Where did this study say it was referencing a hyperaggressive context or violent aggression? TRP absolutely is prescriptive. People don't go there just to observe and ponder social dynamics, they go there to find tactics to use in the real world. Morality absolutely comes into discussions of economics as well. There's a reason we have laws against monopolization, price fixing, etc. We ban those things because they cause harm to all but the few people in power. Yes it may. And it may also make you view other people with thoughts, hopes, dreams, goals, jobs, families, bills to pay, favorite music, and experiences that have made them laugh and cry as the mere means to sex. And it may instill a sense of hopelessness, fear, abandonment, and disillusionment in that person that can take years to recover from. That's objectively dehumanizing. Morals hinder the discussion, banning them increases the efficiency of our discussion. Safety rules hinder productivity. Banning them increases the efficiency of labor. Hm, I suppose you're right. In sexual interactions between an equal number of men and women, women and men would have to have an equal number of sexual interactions. On page 2 of the study my quote referenced, it appears that more men have never had sex, and more women who have had sex remain monogamous. So there are more men than women who have never had sex, but the men who do have sex then must have more sex than women. In terms of sexually active population, the statistic still makes sense.

You're mistakenly believing that because these men are in positions of power that they are the ones who call the shots. Most of these male politicians are just serious opportunists. I'm not just talking about politicians, I'm talking heads of business, judges, law enforcement, professors, researchers, etc. The vast majority of everyone in power is male. I have a really tough time believing that behind the scenes, there are a bunch of women secretly calling the shots and creating a gynocentric so…

I'd point out that there are quite a few male political leaders who advocate for women's issues. This is true. It is very much in the same way that there were many white politicians who were for black rights during the era of Jim Crowe laws. They weren't looking to put African-Americans at an advantage, they were looking to put them at an equal playing field and recognized that there was not an equal playing field. It is exactly the same with women right now. Take a walk at night and count how m…

How can society be gynocentric when women are in fewer positions of power and statistically feel less capable? The fact is that we give male and female children the same opportunities in school, open up the same advantages, give the same talks about self-worth, and yet females have significantly lower self-esteem. Given that distinct male and female brains do not exist, we are definitely raising girls differently from boys, and it is having a negative effect specifically on girls. How can a pers…

BS. Over the last few decades, we have systematically shielded women from all sorts of collective criticism, the media have constantly blown smoke up their asses and told them how awesome and valued and cherished they are I'd say over the last few decades, we have become a whole lot less sexist of a society. This does not mean we are shielding women from collective criticism, it means we are starting to recognize women as something closer to equals. Women were definitely not equals in the early …

I don't understand how that is a response. The fact remains that men are in positions of power. Men shape society. I'm not blaming anyone, I'm saying that society is inherently patriarchal because men are, in fact, the ones who generally hold authority. The article that your second link references illustrates the problem quite well though: despite having the same capability to lead, women believe that they are unqualified to lead. I'm not advocating making gender quotas, I'm advocating raising b…

How so? The vast majority of world leaders are men. The majority of judges are men. The majority of doctors are men. The majority of businesspeople are men. Basically everyone who makes major decisions in the world is a man. I really don't understand the argument that society and its power structures are not patriarchal when men are the ones who decided society should be like this.

There's a balance. I said do good to yourself, but be just as good to others. The Red Pill understands the "do good to yourself" part, but opts to entirely drop the "be just as good to others". And seriously, I get it. I've been burned before by giving too much. It hurts to feel like you give and give and make excuses and just want someone to give you something in return, but it never comes. The problem wasn't that I was giving, the problem was that I wasn't taking any joy from giving. I was exp…

I think part of what pcofo is saying is that if you're looking for a system, you are doing human relationships wrong. It's comforting to break everything down into definite parts in which you can figure out a best fit strategy to gain the best circumstance from those definite parts. However, humans are not like that, at least not all the time. Any strategy that you could be given will inevitably have shortcomings, which I can tell you have recognized. What he also pointed out in that post is tha…

Dread game is dehumanizing guys. Creating jealousy in someone is rape, let's keep going. It's just rape and treating them like an insect! I never said it was rape, I said it was dehumanizing. Do you try to make your mother jealous so she gives you a hug? I'm guessing no, because you probably actually care about her. Oh like women never try to make men jealous or anything? Sure, they do. But not nearly at the rate The Red Pill would have you believe. The Red Pill is based on mass generalizations …

Do women not do this with men? Are men not treated as less than human? Not nearly as frequently. Because having sex with consenting adults and not engaging is terrible business decisions is NOT "denying their humanity" or some such shit. Sure, as long as it is mutually consensual, but it appears to me that The Red Pill likes to blur the lines of consent and emotionally manipulate women into sex. Take a look at "dread game" - that is deliberately dehumanizing, and it is a tactic advised by The Re…

Now society is very much in favor of women. I'd like some evidence for this assertion. Walk around your city at night and see how many women are walking alone vs. men. Women live in fear of real danger. Take a look at Wikipedia's List of current heads of state and government and tell me how many women you see on that list compared to men. Men hold far more power in this world. Take a look at how men are baselessly viewed as more competent in academic science, or how students will rate a teacher …

I'm not advocating for a specific type of morality, I'm advocating for a specific moral principle that people generally think is good. I think if we use the principle of the golden rule, then we can rationalize that slut shaming is wrong and that consensual sex outside of marriage is permissible to those who mutually agree it is permissible. we played our nice card by committing to them for life and taking care of them. Now women are playing their mean card by sleeping around with chads and cuck…

disagree, helping someone is helping some. We are social creatures. We derive some form of pleasure from the fact that we brought someone happiness maybe. Idk. But we're also inherently selfish. I just feel like there's a massive lack of experience in obtaining help based on that first sentence. It sucks to feel like someone helped you just because they want to give themselves a pat on the back that they helped. It's the reason politicians show up at soup kitchens for 15 minutes to "help" - they…

From your earlier comment: Occasionally I do random acts of niceness as long as they come at no cost of my own If it doesn't cost you anything, I don't really feel that it qualifies as an act of kindness. However, I do think that is a good illustration of one of the big problems I have with The Red Pill. The Red Pill tries to claim that you can follow a pretty specific formula of steps and achieve success. It's a feeble attempt to make life feel more certain. Uncertainty is scary, but as long as…

Morality is absolutely necessary for the functioning of society. If we do not adhere to certain rules, we dissolve into chaos. Why do we have a police force? Why do we make laws? Why do we tell our children not to lie, cheat, and steal? If morality is unnecessary, then those safeguards of common morality are unnecessary too. We are social creatures. We benefit from others, and we give benefit to others. When that level of give and take is imbalanced in favor of an individual, we recognize it as …

Counseling exists. Empathy training exists. Social skills training exists. If a person does not see the importance of morality, there is absolutely help that society offers. You just have to accept it. Yes, that does imply that society does not want to be inclusive to those who train themselves into emulating sociopaths. But how could society accept that? Society functions when people give and take. If you are selfish, then you are taking and not giving, and creating an imbalance of trade, so to…

I understand that you do not care about morality. I also understand that you do not deny the existence of morality. There are plenty of people who engage in casual sex and are socially respected who do adhere to general standards of morality and are happy. You seem to have the stance that happiness can come from not caring about morality. Again, what evidence do you have that a satisfying life is one in which a person ignores morality?

Yes, because morality does not disappear just because it is ignored. What evidence is there that a satisfying life is one in which a person ignores morality?

I don't think it's valid to say that sexuality is amoral any more than it is valid for a thief to say that stealing is okay because you can't truly claim anything as your own. Where we have a social contract, we have agreed upon definitions of property. In that same contract, we have certain agreed upon definitions of morality, and those definitions are not somehow exclusive from sex. The golden rule, or some variant thereof, appears in virtually every culture and religion. It is a simple princi…

I get what you're saying. It's a pretty natural instinct to want to reproduce, and is therefore biologically permissible to have sexual desires for many potential partners. However, I think that is a very selfish perspective, and I don't think it takes the modern world into account at all. We train our children to do many things that are not inherently biologically natural - you defecate in a toilet instead of on the ground, you wash your hands with soap, you share with your peers and don't take…

I understand what you're saying. A reasonable person would not stay in a relationship that is abusive, so if dread game is read as abuse, that person shouldn't stay and has the option not to. I just think that entirely dismisses the humanity of the person who is affected. It entirely dismisses the care and investment that the other person may have in saving the relationship. It entirely dismisses the very real concept of learned helplessness, which so many Red Pill tactics appear to try and rein…

I don't think TRP makes a person more socially aware. I feel like it trains men to be dismissive and "alpha" which is just sort of a trained condescension and aloofness, certainly not awareness. I don't think TRP inherently makes a person more interesting. Plenty of self-help guides will tell you to get hobbies and have a passion. Why The Red Pill? It just takes that basic advice and adds misogyny. I don't think TRP makes a person more attractive. I've seriously never met a woman who is obsessed…

I still don't get the idea of "shit tests". It seems like the intended goal is to read what a woman says as passive aggression and respond back with more passive aggression. However, it seems like a lot of reports of "shit tests" that I've read about seem to be where the woman has a legitimate problem and the male uses his Red Pill knowledge to dismiss her and make her feel worthless.

What is your definition of success? If your goal is to have sex with as many insecure women as possible, then TRP will help you. If your goal is to relate to other human beings and develop close interpersonal connections, then TRP is going to be the biggest possible way to shoot yourself in the foot. With that said, I think that seducing the insecure and making others feel insecure to the point where they want to have sex with you is not a very good goal. I think it is shallow at best and create…

No, she is not manipulating them with her attire. Women dress up for men far less than the Red Pill likes to claim. If you have ever talked with women about what they wear, they typically just have their own style and want to express their personalities. It's only in incredibly rare cases that women's clothes are for the purpose of impressing men. It may even seduce them. Is this to imply that what a woman wears may imply that she is asking for sex? She's not manipulating anyone, there are just …

First, I appreciate the detailed response. It seems that you have given this a lot of thought. I think we have a bit of dissonance to the ideas of what actions game implies. Also, I feel like you make the case that doing anything with the intent of self-benefit is inherently game, which I disagree with. Game seems to me to imply looking like a better person than you are. You learn to talk in specific ways, dress in specific ways, respond in specific ways in order to gain power over someone. Mayb…

Abuse and manipulation is exactly what "game" is, and that seems to be a core tenet of Red Pill mentality. When you boil human interaction down into formulaic steps in order to obtain a physical benefit that you do not intend to reciprocate, you are not interacting with humans anymore. You are treating humans as mere means to an end goal. Especially when those steps are designed to solely obtain sex from a female, that is inherently abusive and manipulative.
