Nobody is trying to convince anyone with this Reddit post. Someone is just sharing their thoughts and experience. You can disagree, but no need to be so jaded and accusatory about it.

Sometimes you can't just force yourself to be happy. But I agree that should come first before trying to meet girls. If you rely on a girl as your only source of happiness/socializing/friendship it will end poorly.

As far as how to find a friend group? My suggestion is as follows: look around for people that seem fun, but also have at least something in common with you. Clubs are great, but sometimes the club activities themselves can be a little... shallow? Formal? Not sure how to describe it. Wouldn't the most pragmatic, TRP-esque thing to do be to first propose going back to casual dating? That way attachment can die off and business can continue. It seems like the best of both worlds but it may just be wishful thinking as you said.

I want to clarify. There has been no money invested. It's just the opportunity cost of not running it anymore given that it's already profitable. It's not huge money. Maybe 20-30% of my 9-5 salary but it represents several years earlier retirement.

Really great advice. Going through a tough breakup right now and this was/is/will continue to be a huge help, so thank you.

Haha thanks for the comment. Honest and maybe a tad cynical, but I feel like that describes dating and being single pretty well.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
