Question for blue pillers? And yet it shows even ancient Greece considered women people. Where do you get this idea that women considered themselves inferior to men? | /r/PurplePillDebate | 30/01/14 01:32 AM
Question for blue pillers?Did you ever read Lysistrata in school? Just curious. I disagree with your entire premise that the general consensus over human history was that women were inferior. Im not sure what your response has to do with that. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 30/01/14 01:16 AM
Question for blue pillers?Women were walking around considering themselves inferior until recently? Or does only half of the population count as consensus? (Arguably less than half because I doubt there is a time frame where men all were in agreement on this) | /r/PurplePillDebate | 30/01/14 12:56 AM
Do you think society is being feminized?ok - I can buy that in a younger generation there is less likely to be peer-to-peer pressure, but when you throw in older relatives / bosses / religious leaders, as well as many religious communities emphasizing traditional gender roles, I think that there is still a societal balance that pushes towards separate gender roles. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 21/01/14 07:20 PM
Do you think society is being feminized? You don't think that is the case now? Or you don't think that is the case in the hypothetical "culture wars are over" world? Or you think the culture wars are over now? I'm not sure I understand your comment. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 21/01/14 07:01 PM
Do you think society is being feminized?Add is both underdiagnosed ingirls and overdiagnosed in boys. The blame for each of these problems lies in the same place, although there may be a little fault of doctors and a little fault of society. The problem is that girls are much less likely to present in a hyperactive way, and pop culture doesn't identify the dreamy spacy girl as ADD however a doctor who knows the difference should. This is why I fault the doctors in both cases. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/01/14 01:10 PM
Do you think society is being feminized?Yes, it may be encouraged in some circles, but the circles where traditional gender roles are enforced are more common. And I do think that there is as much variation with women as men. The OP stated that society as a whole was being feminized but all the arguments are focusing on men and ignoring 50% of society. My argument is that society is being averaged so that anyone can choose whatever they are most comfortable with, including extreme gender roles if they prefer. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/01/14 02:56 AM

Do you think society is being feminized? So a society where people have to pretend that they are something they are not is the masculine one? "Be yourself, dont give a fuck about haters" is the feminine version? Idk... both men and women were forced into boxes and punished for stepping out of their little boxes. Now they are both allowed to branch out a bit. This doesn't shift the societal average towards either side. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/01/14 02:25 AM
Do you think society is being feminized?True, it is more acceptable and common for men to display traditionally feminine traits, just as it is more acceptable for women to display traditionally masculine traits. As a whole our society has become more accepting of people choosing to be themselves and be less boxed in to predefined roles. I just dont see an overall societal shift other than more tolerance and acceptance of people who are different. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/01/14 02:07 AM
Do you think society is being feminized? Are girls being under diagnosed a sign of our society being masculinized? ADD is a real thing, and yes it can be overdiagnosed but that is something to take up with the doctors doing the diagnosing. People who think that adhd is "boys being boys" have a fundamental misunderstanding of what adhd is. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 20/01/14 02:01 AM
Do you think society is being feminized? You think there are more kids who dont even know their fathers then there are involved fathers? Do you have any statistics for that? Keeping in mind that just because the parents aren't married doesn't mean the father is not involved with his kids. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 08:41 PM
Do you think society is being feminized? Not to mention that red plaid flannel is very traditionally masculine. Its associated with hunting and being outdoors. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 08:39 PM
Do you think society is being feminized? If there was one, it would probably be something like this | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 08:37 PM
Do you think society is being feminized? But how is someone not committing to raise their kids feminine? Men have always been expected to take care of their kids abd society has always thought poorly of the ones that dont. I don't see a difference in today's culture. If anything, people not wanting to commit to something as financially burdensome as a family seems a symptom of a poor economy and rising income inequality and wage uncertainty. Not that that excuses it - its easy to not have kids if you dont want them. Yes there is the oc… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 08:27 PM
Do you think society is being feminized?Compared with the growing number of very involved dads who want to raise their kids? Dads as a whole seem much more involved now then they used to be. In my parent's generation it was surprising for a dad to have ever even changed a diaper, now it would be surprising for one not to. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 08:20 PM
Do you think society is being feminized? Can someone give me an example of this feminization? Cuz I just dont see it. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 19/01/14 05:05 PM
In regards to women who cut their hair shortMeh... the reason I have long hair is because it is so low maintenance. Short hair (for most womens cuts) is both more expensive, more time intensive, and uses more product to keep it looking nice. I think, generally, women with short hair put more time and thought into their hairstyles than women with long hair. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 18/01/14 05:29 AM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)I dont understand the comment? I thought this whole debate was regarding the first date. After the first date, they are both adults - its generally assumed they can discuss it and decide for themselves. I can only speak from my experience but if a guy insisted on paying for everything and wouldn't let me reciprocate there wouldn't be very many follow up dates because it would seem like he was on some sort of power trip. At that point its much more about himself and his ego, because I would have … | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 02:26 PM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)Mid 30s... I haven't had a first date in over 8 years though. I do remember having to gauge a dates reaction because I am much more comfortable paying, but a lot of guys would get upset or offended, so sometimes I would have to settle for buying next time, picking up the tip, etc... dating in general - especially first dates - can be awkward because you dont know your date yet. Personally I think the default should be that whoever asks pays for first dates, and either trade off or split from tha… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 04:39 AM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)No but I do expect someone who was raised in the 60s or 70 s to have very different views than someone from my generation (raised in the 80 s/90s). | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 03:12 AM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)So, I looked up the study, and 64% of men believe women should help pay, and 57% of women offer to split. It also said thay people in their 20s were the most likely to feel this way, so i think we are seeing a cultural shift. I do think its more likely for men who feel they should always pay to end up with women who feel the same way. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 03:09 AM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)If this is even still aplicable today (since the article says it is based on 20 year old data) it is probably contributable to the fact that households where both people work outside of the home have less free time when they are home. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 02:45 AM
Study: Women misperceived a lack of benevolent sexism (or chivalry) as hostile to women (sexist/misogynistic/etc)I haven't met a woman who minds going dutch yet. Back when I was dating I certainly always pushed for splitting on the first date, and felt very uncomfortable if a guy insisted he pay for everything. From discussions with my friends this is a pretty typical feeling. You may be experiencing selection bias. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 11/01/14 02:36 AM
Ok, who here believes that men and women are entirely the same?Do I think there are differences? Sure. Case in point: in high school we had to take some dumb test that showed how good we are at spacial 3d thinking, and I scored in the 95th percentage for guys, the 99th percentage for girls. This tells me that on average guys were better than girls at this (5% vs 1% scored perfect) but I, as a girl, still scored better than 95% of the guys. So this is what is meant by "differences exist but they aren't important". Knowing how the average breaks out tells you… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 06/01/14 12:57 AM
How did you break through to your SO when they stopped sleeping with you? Which pill did you use?The only significant break I can think of was after my first kid. I suffered a 4th degree tear and took a while to heal - it was my husband's idea to take a complete break until everything felt normal again. That said, I'm not sure which "pill" normal communication is but I think that's what most people do. Its amazing how healthy a relationship can be when you each treat eachother as people, and don't try and play games to get what you want. | /r/PurplePillDebate | 02/01/14 05:45 PM
Women Find Sexually Explicit Ads Unappealing — Unless the Price Is RightSo the times article says that women responded "less negatively" meaning that they didn't like the sexually explicit ads for the expensive watch either. I feel as though I would have the same type of reaction if it was women in the ad? One seems to cheapen sex (a $10 watch?) Whereas the other is status quo... I can't remember the last high end jewelry ad that wasn't similar to that. Of course it would be interesting to see the type of photography. I see that they used a control of mountain pictu… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 28/12/13 06:02 PM
What is hatred or misogyny? Are we talking about different things?I think there is a much higher likely level of variation between "Man A" and "Man B" or between "Woman A" and "Woman B" than between "Average Man" and "Average Woman". Just looking at the fact that "Man A" or "Woman A" can fall anywhere on the bell curve, but "Average Man" or "Average woman" is in the middle of their respective bell curves, which aren't too far off from eachother. Which is what makes the idea of overall gendered characteristics on an individual basis relying on average statistic… | /r/PurplePillDebate | 30/10/13 08:21 PM
