Yes! My eyes are already plenty bad on their own, haha.

I definitely see/know of a lot of women who don't have hobbies, but I've tried to start cultivating a circle of friends who DO have hobbies and want to share that knowledge or just get together to do things. Within the past year I've done a book club with them, learned how to crochet, and have done collaborative cooking/dinner parties. There are at least 4 women that typically participate in these get-togethers, so I think it's really dependent on the type of woman. Outside of that, for a long t…

You're welcome. I think Sixteen92 has some of the best scents in the indie perfume world. Really nicely blended.

The only perfume I've ever liked enough to purchase, and then re-purchase, is Chanel Chance eau Tendre. It's a soft fruity floral, more floral than anything else, and young, but not 'tween'. The jasmine in it is my favorite, and the white musk keeps it soft and pretty and feminine. I also purchase indie perfumes, and two of my favorites are Mellifera, which is like a warm, sweet honey and floral, and Lolita, which is a sweet fruity, apple-y/champagne floral, both by Sixteen92.

How is it that you initiate? Meaning, what do you typically do physically? I would say I initiate fairly often, but it's specifically because my current bf was deprived of a quality sex life in his last relationship, according to him. It was a dispassionate 'chore' that he was allowed to do sometimes. I think it robbed him of some of his will to initiate or try, because why bother? I'm trying to cultivate an atmosphere where he feels like it's worth initiating, because I am receptive and have ne…

"He did bring you what you asked for, just not what you meant to ask for." This is super important. It's important to know that no one is a mind reader (SO or otherwise) and to be clear about what you are wanting or needing!

It actually makes me feel more powerful in the moment, too! It feels awful not to feel in control of your emotional state. 'Flexing' my power to control my reactions makes it way easier these days.

Oh, absolutely. Your note about holding my tongue was correct. One of my goals over the past year (while not in a relationship, and early on in this one) was learning not to be reactive. Previously, I likely would have only thought about myself and my own feelings and would have glossed over or invalidated the helpfulness of his actions.

Invisalign is a great option, as long as you can deal with the personal responsibility. The results really are dependent on your fastidiousness with regards to constant wearing of the trays, cleaning, etc. You also have to be prepared to wear a night retainer for the rest of your life (or as long as you'd like to keep your teeth straight, as my orthodontist says.) A lot of people think the process is over once you complete your last tray, but your teeth are likely to move back if you don't wear …

I guess I figured it was: My fault I forgot them at home My fault I didn't specify which trays to bring (there were 2 sets in the same vicinity, which I realized later) I don't think he had enough info to bring me the right ones without me specifying, and I appreciated his thoughtfulness and effort. Also, I don't think me telling him he brought the wrong ones would improve anything for the future - i.e. if he had brought me squash vs. zucchini, I might want to correct that so he could get the ri…

I currently make more than he does (thanks, gigantic raise this spring) but we're also not married, not living together. We each happily trade picking up the tab wherever we go, and don't argue over it. I'm pretty sure he's going to eclipse my earnings shortly, though, as he is partial owner of a business that's turning out very successful. Regardless, I treat him like a king and let him lead, and our dynamic is just fine.

I hope it goes well! At the very least, it sounds like your instincts were right on- you didn't let it linger, and you made it very clear to the guy that that was not something you were interested in being around.

I would just be up front and say, "Hey, you know that guy that was helping with jobs? He tried to get flirty with me, so I cut contact with him." Answer whatever questions he might have, but more than likely he'll just be glad you stopped it in its tracks. As far as avoiding the possibility of this happening again, well, you can't completely- some men will try with anyone, even when they know you have a boyfriend/husband, such as in your case. Your best bet is probably to be kind, but strictly b…

I think this is the most important part that people miss. It's not about submitting to everything with a penis, it's about finding a mate you trust, and whom you have confidence in.

Depending on your tolerance for heels, these two are my everyday options- I own them in multiple colors and finishes: http://www.amazon.com/Nine-West-Womens-Gramercy-Dress/dp/B00FQE9EUC http://www.zappos.com/corso-como-del I think they're both 3 to 3-1/2 inch heels, which is perfect for me.

I would like to chime in as a data point that dressing well, speaking thoughtfully, and being poised have contributed greatly to my career. I started in my job 3+ years ago, hired on for what was basically data entry. I'm now upper management and have bypassed others for multiple raises and promotions. Of course your actual job performance matters greatly, but your appearance and attitude are terribly important as well- probably moreso than most people would like to admit. From day 1, I dressed …

I just thought this was a nice example of how taking a step back, examining patterns of your own bad/negative behavior coming about, and taking the opportunity to change, can make a big difference. This woman could have taken the usual path to a common fight, leading to resentment and confusion and unhappiness. Instead, she stopped herself and found another solution. Not that a giant burrito should always be the answer, but you know what I mean. :) I also thought it was a nice example of RPW beh…

If no one 'has ever taken your knowledge seriously," there's something amiss- likely an attitude issue. It is 100% possible to be smart, do well in a job, and be feminine all at once. No one is out to get you. And no one is going to drop a dream job into your lap. This whole post is just whiny. Make sure you're a desirable candidate with regards to your resume, job experience, appearance and attitude, and make sure you're applying to realistically attainable positions with regards to all of that…

I've always referred to this behavior as being a 'monogamous slut'. I know 'slut' implies having sex with lots of people, but I've always thought of it as being someone's ultimate fantasy, sexy plaything, open minded, etc, while remaining monogamous.

I would suggest following some subreddits that will help with appearance-based improvement, like r/femalefashionadvice, r/makeupaddiction, r/fitness or r/loseit, etc. They might serve as inspiration, as well as a source of knowledge or advice. Just make sure to read selectively, as not all of it will apply to TRP values (i.e. outlandish bright makeup). Also, swimming might be an exercise you can take up that wouldn't be as hard on your knees!

I don't consume dairy or sugar - this was initially an attempt to improve some autoimmune health conditions and has had an amazing effect on my skin's health. I track all calorie intake. Depends on what he likes. If it's one thing I've learned about giving gifts, it's that your tastes or wants don't matter. Cater to what the receiver wants, not what you want to give.

I definitely do literal mise-en-place while I'm cooking, and I always read through a recipe twice before starting, lest I get to a step while things are cooking, where I have to hurriedly chop an ingredient and hope the items already in the pot don't overcook. In other areas of the house... When I'm walking from one room to another, I try to always take at least one thing with me. Everyone's got things that end up in one room but belong in another, and you don't have to set out to 'clean' everyt…

I agree the dynamic would have been way different if it wasn't family. I would actually have felt very odd in that case and may have excused myself from the construction part of things. I like your line of thinking about seeing what attracts me towards the guy group and trying to fulfill the individual 'feelings' for why I enjoy it. Thanks!

I think I do a pretty darn good job of being seen as a lady in general- I dress very far on the side of feminine (I wear dresses/skirts 5 days a week or more) and I am always the one bringing food and snacks. I am guilty of sometimes wanting to hang with the guys instead of the girls, but I've been more aware of that recently.

I'm not sure what you mean by hanging with them - she (my cousin) asked me to come help the men tile, so I did that. In the down time, the guys drank beers out back while I socialized with the women. Does that seem appropriate or do you mean I should have turned down her request to do the tile work because it's considered to be hanging out with the guys?

Not sure how it plays in, but I was asked by my cousin (one of the women) to help with the installation - that's why I came up for the weekend to their house. I didn't just show up and jump in on my own accord.

Absolutely. Congratulations on the hard work so far! I lost close to fifty pounds between 22 and 26 and I'm still going (very slowly), even though I hit my long term goal weight. Also, the earlier you create the habits, the easier they are to maintain! Much harder to get fit in your late 20's after being unfit previously, and even harder every year you wait.

In the spirit of femininity and connecting with your body, I've found that exercise really helps bring about more 'body awareness'. That is, always being conscious of the state and appearance of your body. Standing taller for better posture, straightening your pelvis so you don't have that pelvic tilt going on, not slumping your shoulders, etc. Not only does it increase the 'connection' with your body, it also is more visually appealing. Having to have proper form and awareness of all your body …

Keep his favorite drinks or foods at your place, or bring them to his as a surprise. Cook meals you can share together. If you leave while he's asleep (this happened a lot when my ex stayed over at my place and I left for work early) leave him a little note in a conspicuous place. Plan things to do together. When you're apart, let him know that you're excited to see him.

This sounds like it's aimed at women that are in a relationship or marriage, but I can chime in as a single lady. I 100% have always been responsible for my financial well-being (since I was 17, anyway, and worked prior to that) and have worked my butt off to be self-sufficient. I know where pretty much every dollar goes, and I am pretty happy with the current status of my liquid assets as well as various investments. Is it that big of a differentiator in your eyes to say: "I would defer to what my husband wants to do if we disagreed about something and couldn't reach a compromise, but not because he's my husband, not because he's a man, not because I'm a woman, but only because I love him and want him to get what he wants!" Sundresses are my go-to; I rarely wear shorts in the summer. Seek out fabrics with some stretch (but not bike-short-Lycra-tight) that will hug your curves without being over the top. Try medium scoop necks or sweetheart necklines to flatter your top half. Boatnecks and high necks will make your boobs look longer than they are, which you probably don't want. And if you wear anything with straps, they should be wider than spaghetti straps- helps play up proportion, and will also make you feel more…
