I agree they don't have the right to destroy people in the process. And being a parent SHOULD be a privelege, but in our country, most people see it as a right. All men and women have the right to reproduce as much as they wish, though. It's physically a right of theirs, if they can have sex. As long as it's like that, everyone will feel like they are entitled to being a parent.

What? Women don't have the right to be mothers? I think they do. Just as well as men have the right to be fathers.

The thing is, so many people are on birth control for reasons OTHER than not wanting to get pregnant from sex. So the fact that he said it that way just shows how little he knows about birth control.

Huh? It should be quite obvious that if you are being abused, and you can leave, you should. For your well-being and sanity and safety, etc. Why would you stay? Just for fun, for shits and giggles? No. It's different when you're a child in an abusive home and you can't leave. It's different when you're being taken care of by someone who is abusive who has almost absolute power of you (like custody). Many people end up dead from abuse, whether they are physically beaten to death, or they kill the…

Yes. In this context, to me, enabling = giving power to. The longer he stays with her, the longer she thinks she has control and is in power in the relationship. So she will continue to abuse him.

They apparently want equal rights for everyone. But simply naming that movement 'feminism' causes problems. Because that's nor for everyone. That's for women.

Really? Cause in a lot of Disney-type movies and TV shows I see a lot of love interest type guys who are 'sooooo attractive' but dumb as posts and have no personality and are mean to the girl. Some of the time it shows that girl finding a 'nerdier' guy who is nice to her and worth her time, but the rest of the time she just goes for the douche anyway.
/r/MensRights27/02/12 05:59 AM

Yeah. They say it's about getting equal rights for everyone, but just the title itself separates men and women hugely.

I am pro-choice. However, I am not okay with babies being aborted simply because their sex is not the desired sex of the parents. If they parents have enough money to get an abortion because they don't want a girl, and then try again to get a boy... then they have enough money to take care of the child that they fucking created, most likely willingly. I know people who have had abortions in situations where if they wouldn't have, both them and that baby would have been dead before it was even bo…

The same year I was at my sickest with my eating disorder, an old (male) friend of mine nearly died from Anorexia. Ever since starting recovery, I've focused on raising awareness among my friends about eating disorders and how they occur in ALL types of people. And they're just as dangerous for a man as they are for a woman. They destroy you.

I think every child should be taught the same thing, no matter their gender. How to be a good person, what's right and wrong, safe sex practices, the harsh truths of the world, etc. At all of the right times, of course. If you teach every person the same thing, and treat them equally, they'll grow up feeling at least somewhat more similar to people of other genders/sexes. If a girl is taught how to be pretty and nice and sweet, and a boy is taught how to fight and how to be tough, all in the sam…

How? Did he say "violence against women is never okay, but violence against men actually is"? NO. He is just talking about violence against a woman in the case of Chris Brown and Rihanna in this specific piece of writing.

Even though I'm pretty sure she didn't hit him in the face with her shoe, even if she did, that doesn't give him the right to beat her to a pulp. And that's cool that she forgave him. But guess what? He's still disgusting and abusive.

From what I've learned/read, there's no evidence that shows that a child needs two heterosexual parents, who are married. Kids are more likely to turn out well-rounded if their parents were happily married, with gender out of the picture and not mattering. I've also heard that a single parent who is happy is better for a kid who has two parents who are unhappy together.

I've had girlfriends who go outside in practically nothing and then complain about 'scumbag dudes' checking them out. And I'm just like, really? You're fucking serious? You're wearing short shorts and a top that has a dip that goes down to your ass in the back, and you don't want anyone to LOOK at you? And all those guys you look at me and say 'omfg he's so hawtttttt', do you think all of them want to be looked at? I hate everyone.

But it's not just women who do that shit, men do it, too. Also, PMDD is an actual real thing, and when you have that along with endometriosis, not being psychotic on your period is fucking rare.

My mother was emotionally absent and abusive and I am still reeling from the damage it caused. My mom never loved me and she still doesn't. And even though I know what she did to me, and how much I hate her, I still want her to love me. I want a mom. I've talked to lots of other people with the same situation. Yes, it's anecdotal evidence, but I needed my mom more than my dad. Especially because my dad wasn't like she was.

I believe that all children and young people who are sexually assaulted should be helped. The vast majority of child rapists were abused or assaulted when they were younger. But not all people who were abused become abusers. In fact, most don't. But it's a cycle. This is actually the field I want to go into when it comes to Psychology. I want to help young people who were sexually abused cope and deal with what happened to them, so that in the future they can live without the burden. That doesn'…

Yeah, totally. I live in a college town, and I just see so many girls like that around me. Girls who sleep with a guy, tell them they love them, and then when the guy tries to call them again, claim that the guy is a freak and is stalking them or something... that's just an example. And I don't get it. I simply don't. The media does have an influence, I agree, but I think it's an influence on the girls, too. Like they see it, and start acting like it (not all of the time). They commit suicide more because they're more likely to succeed, not because more of them are depressed.
/r/MensRights01/02/12 10:47 PM

From what I've learned, men are just as likely to suffer from depression as women. But men commit suicide more often. Not because more of them are depressed, but because men are more likely to succeed. Generally men use guns, or hang themselves. That is often more 'successful' than the general female route of cutting oneself, or using pills. I would personally argue that more men are depressed, simply because it's generally not acceptable for them to seek help, because they don't want to be seen…

Men can't be raped by women unless they're penetrated. Generally male-male rape includes penetration, so it's not an issue legally. But with women, penetrating herself with parts of him, that's not rape. Nope. :|

The only answer to this is that stupid fucks (men and women alike) need to stop being stupid by being unfaithful. My boyfriend and I are under the understanding that if one of us feels like we might want to cheat (i.e. be with someone else), then we'll tell the other person/break off the relationship. It's not an issue, but if it ever were to happen, we wouldn't be stupid enough to sleep with someone else and each other at the same time, risking STD's and fucking trust up. Unfortunately, most pe…

Strong opinions tend to be passionate whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, you have no reason to be in those discussions telling people they shouldn't have that opinion or that you "don't see the point". Go to talk with other people who don't see the point. Talking with people who feel that there is a point is just a good way to get yourself downvoted, and called out.

No, definitely not. It takes courage. A courage that most people who have been raped do not have anymore. Rape is violent and demoralizing, no matter who you are. When you are raped, you are robbed. And one thing robbed from you is your courage, your self-esteem, and often your voice. In our society, most people think that pretty much only men rape pretty much only women. But that's clearly not the case. Less visible but not quite invisible is the case where men rape other men. But cases that ar…

One time when I was 10 my mom got drunk and tried to ride my bike. She failed. She ended up with a black eye, a fucked up chin, bruises ALL over her arms... and yeah. We couldn't go anywhere without people asking her if she was 'okay' or just getting EXTREMELY weird looks.

Exactly. It ruins their lives (the falsely accused). Fucking. Ruins. Them. I actually know, from a personal experience, how awful it can be. My aunt accused her husband of sexually abusing their daughter. Her husband is someone I've known my entire life, and same for my mom. He was a family friend before they got together. But it didn't happen. She made it up because she was angry at him for wanting to take a break in their relationship. She wanted to 'get back at him'. And that fucked my family…

The amount of people in prison who have actually done something worth being in prison for is far fewer than the amount of people in for stupid shit like drugs, or breaking and entering. Maybe murderers and child/adult rapists shouldn't have very many rights, but the rest of them? They're fucking normal people like everyone else.
/r/MensRights14/01/12 09:49 AM

I don't think that really works. Like, telling people not to do things they'll regret, or that alcohol can make you stupid and clumsy and etc. People will just do it anyway. The thing is, even if a woman is drunk off her ass, that doesn't mean that any given person has the right to rape her. The same goes for any guy. PEOPLE should know better than that. Not to rape, no matter the circumstance.
/r/MensRights14/01/12 09:36 AM
2

I don't think it's about preventing herself from being raped, but just about preventing rape in general. PEOPLE CAN PREVENT RAPE. ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE. Not just men. And women shouldn't ever be blamed for being raped. Neither should men. No one 'deserves it' because they dressed 'slutty' or because they're in prison for attempted murder.

I think that human beings, in general, can stop rape. It's not about men or women, it's about PEOPLE. We are all human. The fact that rape and sexual assault are horrible things should be understood and not committed by everyone.

I think it's less about human dignity, and more about how when you're raped once, twice, twenty times... it kills your soul. Like, it literally breaks you down as a person, and it's like being dead while you're still alive.

I have four younger siblings. I've changed all of their diapers. At young ages, they are likely to shit or piss everywhere while you're changing their diaper. It's risky business. Got peed on in the face by my brther once, and diarrhead on by my sister. Trust me, taking out stinky trash is MUCH better than changing diapers a lot. The more diapers you change, the more likely you are to get peed on. Haha. But I think this is bullshit, the OP. Just wanted to share my diaper thoughts.

I agree wholeheartedly, but I really think that comes from the obsession with purity and virginity in women and girls that not only our society has, but many other societies and cultures around the world. I really believe that girls, more often than not, are raised to see sex in such a warped way. Like, sex is bad, masturbating is bad, bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. It's never like "yes, honey, masturbating is normal and sex is a good thing when you're ready for it!" Not to say that it isn't this …

I'm just frustrated by the word "feminist". Even the name is all about women. They say it's about men, too, somehow... though I've never been able to understand that. Not all feminists are bad and ridiculous, but so many I've encountered are. And I live in a really super hippie greener place in Washington state... so I encounter that a lot. I just want equal rights for everyone. All people. I can understand how the women's rights movement was important, but now men's rights are just as important…

Well, touching a woman's clitoris can cause forced orgasms but isn't penetration, so I think that needs to be covered, too.

I agree. I don't want to get to graphic here, but like, in the case of a male being raped without penetration... the simple act of someone giving them forced orgasms by blowjob or handjob without their consent. And in the case of a female, forced orgasms by stimulation of the clitoris. Those things are equally as traumatizing and damaging. So I agree with you.

I study neuropsychology, but only because I genuinely love it, not because I have an evil feminist agenda.

Oh, he was not my dad. He was her boyfriend at the time, and she was pregnant with my younger sister. He just got out of prison last year, he was in for attempted murder. He left to go to meth when my sister was 6 months old.

No, they didn't take her to the hospital. Looking back on it now, I really can't believe it. At the time, my dad made me come stay with him for two weeks, and NOBODY told me what happened that whole two weeks. All I knew was that my pregnant mom was in jail.

Thank you. Though I really do not care about your opinion on how I write.

She came to and called the police. When they got there, both of them told the same story, and only she was arrested.

Hard enough to knock her on the ground unconscious.

One time my mom and one of her boyfriends were fighting, and he said something off color or something, and she kneed him in the nuts. She turned around to walk away (and come out to the car so we could go to a birthday party of a friend of mine, I was like 9), and he punched her in the back of the head. She was also 4 months pregnant at this time! She went to jail. For three days. He didn't even get a lecture. Yeah, being kicked in the nuts probably hurts, but I think that because he punched her…

Do you live in fucking Compton or Newark or some shit like that? Jesus. I mean, whether you're a girl or a boy (man or woman would suggest that you're old enough to fend for yourself and decide whether or not the scruffy old dude with a knife is trustworthy or not), you probably shouldn't answer the door unless it's someone you know. Period.

To me, rape culture is more than the so-called acceptance of violence against women. To me it's like, that, and also the fact that sexual violence against men is ignored and basically non-existent. You want to complain about how women being raped is okay, and funny? Why don't we talk about how men being raped is even funnier, and even more okay because, hey, it doesn't even happen! But that's not even the real definition of rape culture, so I guess I'll have to come up with something else. I jus…

I know this is sarcasm, but scientifically it wouldn't even kind of make sense. Gayness is pre-determined for men in the womb. At least that's what I believe, and what I've learned through studying Biological Anthropology and such.

Yeah, and a more extreme example, when someone is anorexic, they become malnourished and that stunts growth. Loss of appetite doesn't usually make you malnourished, but it definitely affects your growth if it's causing you not to eat as much as you did before.

It's still so bizarre to me that the age of consent is 18. Like, REALLY? I got boobs when I was ELEVEN. Balls drop even earlier than that. Having sex at 14 or 15 really isn't all that bad, as long as the kids are educated (but the problem is that they're usually not). My best friend was technically a 'victim' of statutory rape, because up until last month, she was under 18, while her boyfriend was 22. Anyway. Whatever. The article doesn't say whether or not the sex was consensual, so the article…

I hate being an average looking girl. I often find myself fantasizing about being beautiful so I could get whatever I wanted. But then I realize that I'd probably hate myself more than is even fathomable at this point if that were the case. It still sucks nonetheless.

Just go to New Orleans where you can walk into any bar or club (as long as there's no entry fee, which most don't have) and order drinks and dance and party, as long as you don't look 12.

Yes. An equalist, or a humanist. I'm not down with man vs. woman. It just further separates everyone and makes everyone more angry.

I'm a female, and when I was younger, I was raped by another female. I hate this fucking idea that only women are raped and they are only raped by men. I don't care if the majority of sexual assault cases are that way, that doesn't mean it's all that should be talked about. It makes me feel so invalidated. I can't even type a short paragraph on why it makes me mad, because it makes me so mad that I can't think of any god damn words.
/r/MensRights23/09/11 07:42 AM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
