i have, and have always had, this issue. its like he "has to get to know her" first. its fucking annoying - but its always, ALWAYS been that way for me (28M - i have a son, ffs)

its so sad that you're right. even fighting for joint custody, when its obvious that its in the childs best interest and there is absolutely no history of neglect/abuse towards the child is like pulling teeth. the court system just makes me sick with its "anti-male" bias. yes, mothers are important. NEWS FLASH! so are dads. gah. i need to expel some energy, now. /rant.

the worst part? the 2.6 mil doesnt GO to him. it was awarded to the school district. he got 200K - separate to the 2.6 mil. she's getting away scot-free.

as a male survivor of both sexual abuse and domestic violence at the hands of women - this makes me rage so hard.

oh yeah, i did. my parallel parking was what did it. i didn't make any other mistakes major enough to lose any points on the test.. maybe the woman was just a bitch.

thats insanity. i had to take the test a 2nd time because i wasnt close enough to the curb the first time. i've got more than one person i know who also failed because they couldn't properly parallel park. also, in ontario.

im not sure where you're from - but in canada, if you cant parallel park, you can't pass the test. just to reply to your example.

you two's conversation sounds way too much like a typical conversation between me and my ex SO..... sorry, i know this doesn't add anything to the converation and i'll be downvoted to oblivion for this comment - but jesus.... it just really hits home... i just needed to type that out.

biggest bro code rule is no friends exs. this, this, this, this, THIS. i wish my "buddy" had thought about that ahead of time. i know he knew it. don't do it, OP.

wow. as a separated dad who's son's mom VERY loudly proclaims her "awesomeness" for doing it alone - this is VERY profound. thanks for sharing, and thanks to the person who originally posted... changes my thinking, for sure. edit btw, i'm not saying she's not awesome for going it alone. i couldn't imagine it (esp with 3 kids). but i often wonder the affects on the kids, particularly my son (2 girls, 1 boy), who no longer have that fulltime "male" influence.

i agree with this... i in no way agreed with my ex's decision to remove me from the family - nor do i believe it was for the best (that was over a year ago, and we're still "working on things." i firmly believe we would have had it all sorted out by now had she not done so).. i should not be financially punished because she made a decision affecting the entire family, without my input.... there is no way i'd have been able to kick her out. not that i ever wanted to, even though she was/has been …

"Well once you woman up and bake me a pie, I'll get to (whatever it was she wanted me to do)" this is my new official response to being told to "man up." thanks :)

drunk, yes. weak, yes. depressed, yes. unemployed, hardly - make good money, actually. ill, yes - mentally. she never really pushed for the medical treatment i needed for any of my depression/drinking/illness/etc.... i was blind to it.

i can definitely imagine why she doesn't want a solution that works for both sides - but it's nothing to do with the "attractive people are morally right" ideology... its all about our history. its frustrating because she keeps telling me not to bring up the past, but in situations like this, its all about the past... and its her bringing it up/using it against me.... fucking frustrating.

She came around again AND she's telling you that her opinions matter more than yours? Not in so many words -- but yes, thats exactly what it feels like to me.

that process was pretty much already completed. we've been apart for a year. independence came after a bit of a battle, but it did come. "emotionally" i had moved on just as she came back into the picture. i struggle with the "polite" bit, only because she's not returning the favor a lot of the time - so i just refuse to do it. i guess i have to quit being stubborn and "kill her with kindness" to get it to stop. bah.

it feels like, if i do something "wrong" and dont apologize right away, all hell breaks lose. not only that, but i feel like shit for not... but it doesnt go from the other way. its just frustrating. i just want to find some kind of solution that works for both sides.

i had considered posting this to /r/seduction (i've lurked there for a few months), but decided with the nature of the situation, /r/MensRights was a better location for this type of question. Thanks!

so how would you suggest getting that respect back? it's been a struggle that i'm apparently losing - but being that she is the mother of my children, the love of my life, and was supposed to be my wife, i would love to figure it out. i feel like i've lost a lot of respect for her as well through all of this, and i'm desperate to find equality and figure shit out.. thanks!

thanks for the advise!! getting her to "apologize" about anything can sometimes feel like pulling teeth.. i appreciate what you've had to say and will be keeping it in mind. thank you!

theres quite a backstory here that i didn't really want to/have the time to get into... "moving on" was something i had accepted and was starting to do (reluctantly) when she started coming around again. things have been going OK up until this conversation happened just before i posted this. thanks for the advise. i will definitely be taking what youve had to say into account.

judging by the comments already made here, i'll be downvoted -- but personally, i can't stand high heels. stick to regular shoes.
