Civilization was built by both men and women's toil and labor. Just like Neil Armstrong didn't fly his ass up to the moon on his own. It was a big-ass group effort of a whole fuckton (metric) of people.

It means that they need to carry two million in liability insurance. Your car insurance probably carries 25k to 100k, but the premium is only like 75 bucks a month.

I consider feminism is a blockade. We're trying to get a seat at the table to break down traditional gender roles, but since they're our classical responsibilities as men towards women, many women are loathe to have us drop them. As well, many are also afraid of men, and do not wish to see us organize. So there's that. There are a few legal reinforcements that feminist groups have pressed on- especially in regards to Domestic Violence (Duluth Model) and Rape (Dear Colleague letter, etc), but in …

Mens rights focuses not only on combating feminism's imposition of traditional gender roles on men, but also the actual traditional gender roles themselves.

Miley doesn't seem batshit to me. The whole new look seems like a calculated publicity stunt. I see very little reckless behavior in the press. It's all photo shoots and professional events. Just because she's nekkid and is going with a bit of a counter-culture style doesn't imply that she's bonkers. In fact, she seems like she's in control. As to the main point: the idea that women hate porn is just more policing of male sexuality. Rape, as a crime, has declined since the internet. Don't know i…

It's not crazy. It's relatively common. And feminists everywhere are trying to wholesale remove due process rights. Please rethink your affiliations to certain parts of the movement.

It's pretty threatening stuff. I dunno. It's not like he was convicted OF rape for it. He was convicted for being an abusive prick. And he was indeed being an abusive prick. I don't really see the problem here. I don't think anyone should condone that behavior. Let alone a formative movement trying to distance itself from an adversary attempting to label it a hate movement. Women seem to think that as soon as they're done they can simply start again and cut all but financial ties with the father. As if YOUR relationship with your child is at the whim of her approval and romantic interest in you. Especially in an out of state situation. And what facts don't back that up?

According to wikipedia: "In Gertz, the Supreme Court also established a mens rea or culpability requirement for defamation; states cannot impose strict liability because that would run afoul of the First Amendment." So it's not with assumption of guilt for the accuser. It's gotta be that you knowingly lied. There's a difference between fucking up an accusation (example: it was really his twin brother!) and knowingly targeting someone with a false accusation (example: duke lacrosse case). Though …

Of course. There are absolutely cases of abuse. I don't think anyone really thinks that rape and abuse aren't real things. Many of us have been raped and/or abused, so we know they're real things. People do some really fucked up stuff to each other. We just think it's balanced between males and females, and that people should be both punished equally for it, but as well that due process should be afforded to any claim. Just basic human rights stuff. I don't think there was ever a case here where…

They really do, that's the sad thing. The duluth model (basis of domestic abuse policy) website states: While we do recognize there are cases of domestic violence other than male perpetrated violence against women, even in those cases the perpetrator's sense of entitlement to control or dominate another remains the predominant cause of violence. It's men's fault because of their 'sense of entitlement and control'.

It sucks that we have to point out that women are human beings and as such are just as capable of cruelty and malice as any man... but we do. Feminists are right on that aspect: society seems to have forgotten that women are human beings. But they're like the fox news of women: all the good of their party, none of the bad. At least we admit that there are a whole fuckton of douchebags out there, male and female. And that we need to draw up laws considering reality rather than equity.

In the same way a rape of a woman is considered a feminist issue. Or any domestic violence case. Save that people don't actually think that abuse happens against men. So there's equal measure awareness campaign associated.

Frankly, anything with being a smaller person applies. I'm not gonna give the 6'2" musclewoman an assist. It's not sex (at least for me). It's size. And the whole "walk you home at night"... men are far more likely to be victims of random violence. You're probably doing your male friend more of a service than he is you, other than ameliorating your fears- fears that have been instilled by "our lady of perpetual victimhood", the church of political feminism.
/r/MensRights20/09/13 05:12 PM

Political Feminists tend to think men have default agency. That men's desires will always trump a woman's, because she's too weak. It reinforces the perpetual victimhood dogma that gets budget dollars hoisted their way. Like VAWA being mainly "feminist political group stimulus".

not by law. Consent was given with no threat made in order to coerce. Coersion doesn't mean "badgering". It means threatening someone. Forcing them to agree under extreme duress. Badgering isn't a crime. It's just pathetic, not criminal.

By the very nature of a double standard, any one that exists for a man also does for a woman. You can talk about the pros and cons of both sides of those standards all day. It's a double standard- one side applies to one, the other applies to, well, the other.

Patriarchy is a doctrine that's based on infallibility. Women are oppressed, men are the oppressors. As soon as you point out that there are circumstances where women have privilege over men, the entire dogma crumbles. Crumbling dogma is a violent process. That's why we're seeing feminists revise their language to show patriarchy as meaning simply "gender roles" rather than "systemic male oppression of women".

Because driving drunk is a strict liability crime.
/r/MensRights03/04/13 02:52 AM

If there was not enough proof of the crime to prove, then nobody should consider the crime committed. You can't have something say, "We only got him for assault, even though we really kinda know he did it". That's not right.

She does represent a side of feminism. A very vocal and powerful side. We have Duluth Model stuff, pushed by feminists, as part of our law. Stuff that says only men are abusive. Our laws read that way. Men can't be raped, women can't be abusers... it's all the same cloth.
/r/MensRights29/03/13 06:30 AM

You have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. In a two person testimony without any further evidence, one human being has to prove they have utterly infallible credibility. It's not acceptable that we send someone to prison for any less. If people go free, so be it.

Yea, that was confusing for a bit. I'd love to see government funding for shelters get the Title IX treatment. I'd rather see that in awareness money as well, though. Given reporting stats, I think that we need to see a massive "If she's hitting you call..." campaign more than anything.

Gender politicians have seemingly been redefining patriarchy lately. It's becoming the code word for "gender roles" rather than systematic oppression of women by men, as it has traditionally been. I'm glad it's changing, but I still hate the word.

I shouldn't have said rates. I should have said amount. There's a greater number of suicides of divorced males than every other demographic combined. Error on my part. Plus, the two groups overlap pretty strongly, I believe.
/r/MensRights18/02/13 09:57 PM

This place is part support group. Mostly because feminist groups have steadfastly stood in the way of any institutional support that might be available for men. Shelters, centers, groups, etc. Men don't have a 'safe space'. And it's not even always funding. They just oppose them on principle sometimes. Say that groups of men congregating supports oppression.
/r/MensRights18/02/13 08:07 PM
6

Divorce can be extremely alienating for a man. That's probably a factor in why divorced males have higher suicide rates than every other demographic combined. That type of social support might not be available to everyone.

You could argue that "the view" is a creative medium wherein the panel is expressing their creative opinions on how castrating someone is funny, too. We're not championing banning the thing. We're not for outright centralized censorship. But we can use it to generate awareness. The difference between white men and black men is nowhere near the difference between men and women, though. No doubt there's a difference between groups of men... but you're looking at 1 in six black men being in prison. Only 1 in 100 black women. Yea, there's a bit of a racial discrepancy, but the gender gap is fucking absurd. Both suck.

There's a bunch of really dejected boys out there that are coming to terms with the fact that feminism, particularly in education, has failed them. I'm seriously not generalizing at all. I'm just letting you know what other feminists actually believe. Just because you, one feminist, believes something, doesn't make it feminism. Trust me, just because you claim to be a feminist doesn't mean that you know better than we do what feminism is about. We're the the gender politics version of atheism. Patriarchy is not a code word for societal gender roles. It means male oppression of women. It says "society is run by men, so men are at fault for all of the problems facing everyone". It's a creation of radical man-hating feminists to blame all problems on men. edit: this includes those gender roles you mentioned as being some sort of male creation. If you believe in patriarchy theory, The only way to solve society's problems is to tell men that they are bad and that they need to change. It's …

I see where you're coming from. If we removed drug offenses from the list, the population would deplete pretty quickly. A large portion of the prison population is incarcerated for drugs and drug-related violence. That's the first step to me. And putting men's sentencing rates at parity with women would probably be a good start, rather than blanket reduction. Women don't really have much of a problem in that arena. The sentences are already pretty damned light, if nonexistent in many places. Par…

Downvoting is different than banning/censoring. I'll often look to the bottom of the post to check and see what the dissent is. The argument is still there to have. It's a byproduct of the rabid trolling that's occurred in the past- people just tend to assume 'troll' at this point. But people aren't typically banned. In other places, that dissent is completely censored from the top down, and not allowed to happen at all.

/r/MensRights10/10/12 03:36 PM

Of course. That's no big deal at all. But the terms of parental surrender typically dictate that the choice to surrender be made within the window of legal abortion, as to coincide with a woman's window to choose. Unless the father was not notified (and where I'm still trying to figure in by brain the logistics of that kinda thing).

/r/MensRights10/10/12 02:19 PM

Many places, paternity doesn't matter to the courts, though, for child support and other such things. So if the kid is born, you sign the birth certificate, and then get a test and realize you're not the father, you have little to no recourse. And if you leave the woman, you're still on the hook.
/r/MensRights10/10/12 11:51 AM

Good for you. Unfortunately, that's not the mainstream opinion.
/r/MensRights10/10/12 11:48 AM

It's the other way around- that standard used to apply to women. Then we invented abortion. We can invent parental surrender and level the playing field. Dude should have a choice before the kid is born. If a woman wants to go it alone, then that's her business. She still has the choice at that point.
/r/MensRights10/10/12 11:47 AM
3

Legal parental surrender is about giving choice to both parents. A woman has many choices whether she wants to be a parent. A man should be afforded the same opportunity. If the standard of "well, you shouldn't have fucked, then, if you didn't wanna raise a kid" is an inappropriate standard to apply to a woman, why apply it to a man, as well?

Sure it's technically rape. By definion, the partner wasn't consenting. That does not, however, make the partner a rapist. It does not make it a crime. No 'mens rea'. Don't apply broad statements like that. It's just not true. When you say something like "all women are" followed by something bad, it's misogyny. Same as "All men are rapists" and the like is misandry. That said, some women are insane. Probably about the same proportion that men are. Our big problem is that society drops an anvil on the insanity of men, but reinforces the poor behavior of insane women (lenient laws, protections, etc).

The money should be paid to the state, not the mother. It should be kept in a separate account, and all purchases should be auditable. I dated a girl with a kid. She spent that shit at the bar. THE BAR. ON ALCOHOL. Girl didn't even have custody, either- her mom took care of the kid. I understand the need for support in many cases, but damn if we shouldn't be at least attempting to prevent what amounts to outright fraud.

If she didn't have the means to take care of the kid, she should have made another choice. (edit: I misread this earlier thinking, somehow, that his sister wasn't able to support the kid or something. I dunno. Brain went all flopdumps. I'll leave it up, though, since the sentiment, as applied in general, still stands. People should not be having kids if they can barely feed themselves.)

"illegitimate murder" is usually called manslaughter (as opposed to homicide), and the crimes have different sentencing guidelines. There may not be tiers of rape, but there are certainly different tiers of rapist. The person who serially rapes in the back corner of a parking garage is far different than the poor shmuck who wasn't informed that consent had been revoked.
/r/MensRights27/08/12 09:45 PM
3

The effects on the victim are sometimes similar... but are the criminals perpetrating it similar? I don't think a person who was confused about the willingness of a partner to participate should face the same penalty as someone who, in a completely depraved way, beats and rapes a stranger in the dark corner of a parking garage. They're different criminals with different profiles and different risks to society.

It's not like we're sitting around planning and talking about sexism, either.
/r/MensRights10/08/12 08:33 PM
1

I think some of the efforts to police sexism are assumed to trend men into looking for companionship in other men. And that's why "men's centers" are such a scary topic for feminists, and why the men's rights movement is seen as such a inherently sexist entity. Not because of the topics discussed, necessarily. But just because men are uniting under a common flag. It's how feminists derive their power, after all.

Other way around, typically. Most feminist thought gives external reasons for female behavior- which typically absolves responsibility, puts accountability on others, and reinforces the notion that sufficiency is not something earned but something that demands to be given. Most women are awesome and capable human beings. Just like any other human beings, regardless of sex or gender. Yep, in the US. You have to look at combined spending- state, local, county, federal. In total, ed spending is quite a big higher. The more money we've thrown at schools has actually had a relatively inverse relationship to performance. Correlation/causation, I know, in any case, we're assuredly doing it wrong. Money alone is not anywhere near the problem.

Mothers have a choice whether they want to be mothers. Why shouldn't fathers? Let the ones who want to be parents be parents. Let the ones who don't opt-out. If a woman wants to go it alone, that's fine. Otherwise, she has plenty of opportunity to make a different choice. Another thing. We really need to go to a 9-5 school day. We want to have a equal decision in IF a conception goes to term. (right now we have ZERO input) That's how it should remain. You can't force an abortion. You can't force someone to not abort. Frankly, the fact that women do have a choice is a big factor in the oft-spoken 'financial abortion'. "Look, I'm not supporting you. You have a choice whether to go it on your own or not. People have plenty to fear from other violent people. It's not relegated to women having to fear from men. In fact, it's men who have more to fear from violent individual men than do women. I never understood the liberal/feminist opposition to the carrying of weaponry- especially guns. They're a great force equalizer. I assume he's making a characteristic summation of the hateful invective in that article as an ironic statement regarding sexist double standards. The article is basically saying, men are such douchebags, if only they were more like women, everything would be sunshine and rainbows!

Just like there are sick men in the world, so are there sick women. We demolish any man we decide might possibly maybe be sick. We arm sick women to commit violence against men. We should either equally punish or rehab sick people, but equally is the key. False rape accusations destroy just a rape does. It doesn't matter if you may think it's not as much destruction, it's still destruction. And we all deserve justice: people should get away guilty rather than languish innocently.

The nra is powerful, but it's the supporters that give it power. Same with NOW, et al. There is a powerful base out there that sports these feminist interest groups who look out solely for the interests of women. Screw the armchair philosophers talking about feminism being about gender equality, they don't matter. It's the political interest groups that do, and they're solely looking to legislate in the interest of women and only women.

The benefits of having a good father are not in question. It's certainly a benefit. It's just that you need to change your actions in this day and age to protect yourself and your children from batshit crazy people- mostly overzealous bear mothers. Even moreso in case of divorce.

/r/MensRights06/09/11 07:02 PM

So, your message is to totally ignore the risk of completely losing your children altogether? Fuck that. The unfortunate thing is that most accusations of abuse come at the hands of a vengeful mother in a divorce. If your parents had split up acrimoniously, I'd be worried she'd use your dad's affection as a weapon. It happens constantly. Way more than random strangers making accusations- they usually just give looks.

Where a society does benefit from an absolutist morality, humans in general are morally relativistic. There are certain ideals that fit within a culture's development (child labor is a good example of this- beneficial if not unavoidable in early stages of industrialization)... cannibalism, incest, etc are all things that might be morally repugnant to one culture but status quo in another. Human moral righteousness doesn't exist, as far as I'm concerned- that definition is contained in the societ…

I understand where they're coming from. It's a problem with a movement like women's rights, which did so much good in the past. There was an institution to fight. They had a concrete set of attainable (sp edit) goals. Fortunately, they triumphed. But, what's a group to do when they don't have an enemy anymore to keep them together? Invent one! Actually, the screaming recruits other MRAs. Eventually, the issues become mainstream enough to be relatively commonly known. At that point, the non-screaming & whining MRAs can tell the screamers to stfu. Yes, it does piss off feminists. Yes, they do attempt to silence us for this. But unless they can totally silence the movement, it will continue to gain ground- especially since feminist action tends to make more MRAs these days. It's not really a bad thing. Typically, you see it with men championing institutionalized discrimination against men. Just because one thinks it's morally right, doesn't mean that it's not sexist/discrimination. I'd argue differently. There was a clique of women, a social strata, created with the advent of feminism. It became a sorority; it was something to belong to. Back in the day, there was a concrete institution for women to fight against. They did have a lack of equivalent rights. And what they accomplished was good, as far as equality is concerned. Unfortunately, that group wishes to still exist. So they must create phantom institutions (patriarchy, rape culture, etc), to rail against to maintain…

This is very true. Just as there are 'men are evil' rape victims haunting the ranks of feminism, we have plenty of victims here, too. I don't think we encourage the same perpetual victimhood, though. At least we have an actual establishment... actual institutionalized discrimination, to rail against. They've had to invent things like 'rape culture' as a sort of scapegoat establishment 'idea'. It's closer to religion than activism, in that sense.

Here's a goddamned wiki for you: Prenuptial agreements in all U.S. states are not allowed to regulate issues relating to the children of the marriage, in particular, custody and access issues. The reason behind this is that matters involving children must be decided in the children's best interests. However, this is controversial: some people believe that as custody battles are the worst part of a divorce, couples should be able to settle this in advance.[5] Sure, you arrogant son of a bitch, I'…

Ah, a troll. Fun. Whatever. Law school? You should get your money back. Family courts have a dictate called "the best interest of the child". It allows unilateral action, beyond whatever agreements the parents make. The state acts on behalf of the child. Most states require any and all custody agreements go through the court for that reason. And one can NEVER with 100% accuracy predict the actions of another person. And in today's family court, woman wants it, you're screwed. You said it earlier…

We get accused of victim-blaming all the time. I agree that gender roles need to be deconstructed. But saying, 'it's just patriarchy', means that the impetus is solely on men to fix the problems- it's our fault that we get fucked over. However, for some reason, feminists are preventing these simple changes from happening. Thus why this is an anti-feminist thread. The hypocrisy is palpable. I'd be all for lobbying for certain succinct issues where women are at a direct disadvantage. Unfortunately…

'Women's rights' groups are no different to white nationalists who claim that they exist for benefit of their community but instead of embracing equality and acceptance for everyone, these groups work for exclusion of those different whilst feeling moral superiority. Men have seen a history of oppression throughout the world, no woman could understand what it is like to be a man. Even today the effects of misandry are widespread. If the asset values do not move up and down in perfect synchrony, a diversified portfolio will have less risk than the weighted average risk of its constituent assets, and often less risk than the least risky of its constituents. Therefore, any risk-averse investor will diversify to at least some extent, with more risk-averse investors diversifying more completely than less risk-averse investors.

From a morally relativistic standpoint, nothing is truly 'wrong', per se. However, our current culture holds violence as a great taboo. It's difficult to keep a moral high ground, thus swaying hearts, if violence is utilized.

Anarchism is a non-aligned movement, as governance would cease. The matter then is the social order created after the destruction of the state. The etiology of transgenderness, like homosexuality, is not known. If it is psychological, genetic, metaphysical, or what, I don't really care. And frankly, it doesn't matter. Institutionally, we need to stop treating people differently for any reason. Rich or poor, Man or woman or inbetween, black or white. We're all just people. Actually, the inherent issue with my comment should be the joke's assumption that testosterone causes aggression, not that I condoned violence (which was the joke's exaggeration... it's patently ridiculous to punch a coworker). We have no evidence that men are more violent or aggressive by nature than women are, and thus linking testosterone to violence does an inherent disservice to men across the board.

There are certainly times that depression causes failure to thrive. But there is a certainty that failure to thrive can cause depression, too. Rofl, you come off as such a douche, here. I'm not sure you intended it, as you were clearly trying to make the OP look like a douche. For what it's worth, some people have a screw loose. In many cases, it doesn't really matter what you do or say. You could build them the taj majal and they'd still be out for your blood. Just like a condom protects against STDs, why not protect against something that could seriously fuck up your life otherwise? It makes sense.

I'd rather that than have to register as a sex offender and be punished for the rest of my life.

Yep. You've been deliberately made into a Little Bitch. It's one thing to undermine one's manhood (Whipped), it's quite another to undermine your humanity. Find someone you feel good being with.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
