This is called low-balling and LVMs have truly turned it into an art form. Indeed these examples here almost surpass low-balling into “beneath the earth’s crust”-balling. And they all think it’s the most fun.

Yeah I’m finding the same as I rather masochistically plunge back into the world of OLD. I’m 34 and honestly I’m having a hard time finding a guy who looks close to my age who isn’t uncomfortably younger than me. I’ve started to look a little more “mature” over the past few years (a healthy lifestyle can only do so much and let’s face it recent times have been tough for everyone) but it’s nothing compared to most guys I’ve seen aged 25+ who look significantly more “weathered” than women of their…

Apparently men refusing to use umbrellas or even wear jackets or sunscreen is a thing. They wear only what they want to wear and don’t even care to try to plan for contingencies. The male ego is absolutely bizarre, it’s SO important yet fragile enough to be threatened by a damn umbrella.

At this point... I’m beginning to think there is actually no limit to what most women will put up with. And plenty of men have caught on. Women have stood by men who have committed the biggest atrocities. Even Hitler had a pickme by his side. Women today can have more advantages than they ever had before historically but somehow they will find some way to convince themselves that the worst relationship not only can be but must be salvageable, even if it is destroying them, their children, anyone…

Interesting! I’d even say that identifying something is below even the lowest part of the learning pyramid. Remembering things still involves having the capacity for retention of information which is important for learning whereas pointing things out which are right there in front of you only involves having working eyesight and basic language. I used to know a guy who would just point things out constantly and I was like “yes I too see these things and understand that they are things... 🙄” but …

I’m quite “petite”, not significantly but a few inches shorter than average and my ex went ON about this jokingly, fortunately I don’t have hang ups about my height but I might well have. Also I got the teasing about upper lip hair and if I hadn’t shaved my body hair I’d be called “hairy”, again he likely wasn’t meaning to be hurtful but god forbid if I ever drew attention to any of his physical flaws, he’d have thrown a fit. This sort of thing now always reminds me of this classic clip from Inside Amy Schumer about how men don’t actually want you to be confident, they just want to be the ones to control how you feel and look, ie deferential and dependent. They appear to be building up your confidence but as soon as you try to “own” that confidence or god forbid not even need anyone to tell you what’s good about you then they’re pulling the rug out from under you: https://youtu.be/fyeTJVU4wVo

I don’t get it. Surely kissing anyone you already live with shouldn’t be an issue and if you’re distancing from anyone it’s a safe bet that you won’t be kissing or doing anything else sexual with them. This might sound like a petty thing to get annoyed over but I’d been on at my now-ex to get a passport for about a year and retake his driving test just so that we could do all the fun things he himself kept complaining that we never got to do, just to generally be able to enjoy being a young couple without kids for a while. Honestly there are plenty of women I know where I don’t even know their partner well enough to be able to make a judgement. Most of them seem reasonably happy most of the time (if posting regular couple-selfies on Facebook is a valid sign of happiness) but I also wouldn’t be very surprised if most of these women have had to compromise on a LOT over the course of their relationships just to keep things on a relatively even keel. So far I’ve yet to hear of one whose partner actually does at least …

I wouldn’t go as far as to call myself attractive, although I can scrub up decently if I make an effort. I’m almost pathologically single and with the exception of one long term relationship I’ve basically never dated or had sex. This has been the case for my entire adult life and it’s definitely not for lack of interest in men and dating generally, as a concept. I’d be totally happy to date if 1) it weren’t often more trouble than it’s worth setting them up when you don’t actually know that man…

There’s something about those who are drawn to the medical profession which has made me put my guard up in recent years. Not all people obviously (there are amazing doctors and nurses out there of course and the profession itself is an incredible gift to humanity) but so many I’ve known, or known of, have had either a god complex or a martyr complex, and it turns out that both these things are variations on narcissistic personality disorder. It’s really fucked up but to this day I still have difficulty crying at all and will fight hard never to cry in front of anyone because most tears of mine have almost always been met with either amusement or contempt or even anger. It’s so incredibly frustrating to see these dynamics start to blow up in everyone’s face, especially when you’ve started to notice the inequality in said dynamics for a long time before this. Every married woman I know is stressed to pieces and literally NEVER gets a spare moment to herself. Even in the “good” marriages where the husband plays a much more (if not completely) equal role in household management, the husband still gets “allowed” some regular free time to go do whatever they want fo…

9 times out of 10, always listen to your grandma! I’ve always been a bit put off by exceptionally good looking men, like the type people would call a “pretty boy”, because I associated them with being arrogant and coasting by on their looks. But I’m now starting to think the same about ugly guys and I’ve been somewhat disabused of the idea that they’re any better. I think the idea is to go for just the right amount of good looking.

And I’m fully aware that I’m likely not ready to date until I do, because I’d have rather little to offer until then. It’s the ones who are resigned to all of the above for life that have the bigger problem IMO. And I definitely have never gone onto Pornhub. Not even once.

Funny you mention Ted Bundy, I was watching a recent documentary on his killings from the perspective of the women who had encountered him at some point (and I think also his brother and some lawyers who had been involved in his case) and they drew particular attention to how Bundy had completely exploited the arguably even greater pressure, back then, on women to be nice and helpful to people in need. The fact that he used women’s social conditioning against them to commit the most horrific act…

Sorry but I just got a mental image of having to carry around one of those pepper grinders waiters use in restaurants and then having to use it on a man if he starts getting weird 😄 but I guess one of those containers of ground cayenne pepper or chilli you can just open and fling out at someone would do the trick. I find it ridiculous that we’re not even allowed to carry things to defend ourselves, meanwhile in some countries any random man can buy a gun.

I’ve actually started acting as though I really am deaf or hard of hearing whenever spoken to by a man I don’t know in public for no apparent reason. Recently I started to feel like this was just me being unnecessarily rude and besides “what if they actually need help or just directions or something” so one day I did respond when a man did the “excuse me miss?” thing. There’s a thing called the “grey rock method” which was originally developed as a coping mechanism against narcissistic people in your life, where you are technically polite to them but give the bare minimum responses so as not to give them any “amno” to use to harass or otherwise take advantage of you. I feel like this is also the best method to use against men you don’t know, or men you’re forced to interact with regularly but want to keep at a safe distance. Answer their questions simply and …

I’ve heard of men doing the “two firm shakes” thing after peeing and already didn’t think they used toilet paper when going number one. But realising that so many of them don’t even wash their hands after any bathroom use has put me off men even more. If it turns out that they’re responsible for how fast and far coronavirus has spread, and if they’re still not even trying to improve their hygiene, then I’m swearing off them for life on principle.

Some people here are saying 5ft10 but my phone calculator is putting it at 5ft 8.3. Being over 300 lbs at either height isn’t a good thing, unless a LOT of that weight is muscle. I’m thinking the odds of that being the case here are vanishingly low.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/03/20 03:44 PM

That’s definitely the worst part of it. We’re trained from a very young age to see the “potential” in a man rather than who he is right now. Even going back to the school bully who you’re assured “actually secretly likes you” when he’s horrible to you, girls learn to hang in there and search (usually in vain) for the slightest glimmer of humanity in him. This of course leaves them, when they grow up, wide open to abuse and they’ll never leave because they’ve been conditioned to define true love …

“Parasite seeking a host” That should be the heading for far too many male dating profiles tbh. Also what the hell is it with the fixation on having a woman to motivate and inspire them? I once met a guy who didn’t like music or indeed any form of “culture” at all, literally had only one very specific interest. I remember being taken aback at the time but I’m sure I’ve heard of one or two more people since then who were similar in that they just didn’t like anything, not even actively disliking everything, although that too would be a red flag, just being completely indifferent. What would almost always end up happening when this happened with my ex is that he’d break down emotionally and lament what a terrible person he was for doing that to me, and I’d end up having to comfort him and build him up again. It took SO little to send him on a downward spiral and it got to the point where I struggled to make any critique of his actions and behaviour without this happening.
