Some therapy might be in order. There’s a good reason you were codependent before. You might need more time to heal your old wounds. Sounds like you’ve had a really valuable year 😊

He’s too young and dumb to appreciate what he’s got - you should listen to your gut - always - our guts tend to read reality in a way our minds cannot. You are lonely and isolated now - with this guy it will probably get worse. He’s an avoider. Avoids world and you. He’s also passively saying he’s not loyal - he’s saying “I don’t know what I want at all”. Well - one thing you don’t want is a guy who doesn’t know what he wants, particularly when it’s sleeping in the bed next to him night after ni…

I’m sorry. His excuse about privacy reveals he is not ready to get deeper go deeper with you. I would wish him well, and move out while he’s on “tour”. If he loves you he will come to you. Our psyches can’t help rejecting people who think we are above them. By trying so hard to understand why he is rejecting you, you show me you think you deserve less than him. If I were you I would go talk to your hamster and apologize for downgrading it’s advice. Hamsters know a lot more than we give them cred…

I hate to be disagreeable but you can’t coddle a person into a better mood. Ironically, it will only make things worse. And people who try to hard to take on emotion tasks meant for others are always disappointed because unconsciously people know they are being manipulated by another’s insecurity and willingness to gain power while the other is needy. Jordan Peterson refers to this archetype as the Oedipal mother. Better to love by giving love through space or mental presence, reduced reactivity…

I’m sorry you are hurting. You are young - you made a dumb mistake. Unfortunately, he seems too unstable to let it go. He’s holding this over you. I’d worry about it more if you weren’t so young when you had the affair. I would never be with a guy that unstable - a guy who is now literally torturing you because of his own unknown hang up. He’s probably high in neuroticism. Run my friend. You will find new love. This guy doesn’t know you well enough to see you. Maybe he does though, and in that c…

Physically this may be true - but if you understand your value as a women to be so much more than what a man can see with his eyes you can buck this trend. Deep interest, humor, perspective, charm, charism do not go away with age. A truly developed women simply cannot be replaced. InsteAd a man will follow her and her saggy breasts for a lifetime. The trick is to know the true power of your femininity does not come merely from attracting the male gaze - it comes from understanding the power of t…

That last bit made me laugh “guys don’t care if you’re weird” - as long as you have a positive vibe. Right, on. Guys are good like that.

Go to therapy and increase your sense of self. Even losing weight can’t fix an ingrained inferiority complex. I’m a therapist and I’ve seen how therapy helps folks see their hidden strengths, and how this transforms their attractiveness to others. Good luck,

I got married 25 yrs ago - I didn’t say obey. However, I’ve come to realize my husband and I must both obey a value that transcends each of us - I obey that value not my husband per se, I am submissive to the god concept. My husband benefits more from this , as my service is to a higher realm and it would make little sense for me to resent that realm - it is life.

Sex is important, yes, but it can’t fix everything. If you both grew up in cults you need counseling.

Yes - I agree, you need to become a high-value lady. I agree a woman like this will stimulate latent masculinity in men.

The non-marrying men aren’t distasteful, it’s just that they don’t want to get married. You must assess your own tolerance for risk in relationships. If you don’t mind the risk, and you truly understand the risk then proceed. If you don’t want kids it’s probably less of a big deal to go with a non-marrying man. Myself, I would stay away from people who don’t share my values and make room for folks who do share them. I’m seeing a lot of single millennials in my practice and most are seeking sanct…

If a guy doesn’t want to marry you than why would you want to devote yourself to him if you in fact want marriage? Guys who don’t want to marry may not possess the natural capacities to do well in marriage. One requires confidence, courage, virtue and imagination to truly do well in marriage. Without certain traits marriage will be truly difficult. In the past the culture supported the advancement of these traits so many more men could adopt these values through proxy. Now the culture doesn’t su…

If you haven’t lived with a passive-aggressive person you may not understand. All people are demanding - men and women both. The problem with the passive person is that they say one thing and do another - it’s probably unconscious. In my own experience, I had to detach from the passive person in order to contain my own inner-bitch. I had to become strong in myself. The problem is many women experience that disconnection or autonomy as falling out of love.

Beta men are sort of impossible sexually. By that I mean weak or insecure men who cater to women to get sex. I wish someone had told me that they will turn you into a demanding bitch and then blame you for it. They do this by literally spoiling you in exchange for their low-sexual market value (as the saying goes). I think it’s an unconscious bargain women are driven to make as we can’t all have the perfect guy, given our own resources. I’m a mental health professional and the guys who are the m…

You are young - so if it is a mistake you have time to correct - it’s just a funny time to be a woman who wants to have kids - it used to be that men who married wouldn’t feel so comfortable saying they want to continue to live child free. But more folks are deciding, for a diverse set of reasons, that they are better forgoing creating a family. It’s interesting. One could argue that in a world that is increasingly hostile to families, one would be best to avoid finding oneself inside such a tar…

This is tough. I think there’s a pretty strong don’t have kids narrative out there in the world, guys are hip to it. In reality, having kids isn’t going to be great if one still believes the I can be free and have fun forever rhetoric. Honestly, many folks are perfectly suited to a life of self-fulfillment with shallower sorts of personal commitments. But some people want more, they crave deeper connections, they desire to sire and spread their internal fire into the next generation. This is goi…

My husband likes meat. I bought a silpat mat and a baking sheet for it to sit upon - I make a lot of chicken on it, 425 degrees, drumsticks or wings, salt and pepper and maybe some turmeric. It comes out super crispy every time, so easy. Like 30 min. Pile it high on a plate and it impresses. Great cold too.

It’s cool you are listening to yourself and taking your own intuition seriously - a good friend will value this quality in you, rather than seek to diminish it. Your friend may not be accustomed to you having a mind of your own - she also sounds like she might confuse being blunt and rude with being close. Sometimes people think they are in more intimate relationships than they are because being abused is fundamentally an intimate experience. Bully-like friends, she’s the alpha and you the one b…

There are so many beta men in tech - that may be rubbing off on him. I know this sounds weird but do you know an alpha men you could get him around - they say men’s testosterone increases when they are romping around with other men - some sporting activity. His beta side might be a defensive response to adjusting to his new life as a dad and provider - he might be wanting to be little again, hence the baby talk. My guy is a natural beta and it’s taken years to bring out his alpha. I found Jordan…

My husband and I created our garden in our backyard, we call it our private park. We also listen to each other and enjoy seeing the world through each other’s eyes, we like to entertain each other with stories, laughing, good music, it all adds up. If you create a world with your man it will be hard to replace it - build a world that’s special.

You need to break that habit ASAP or it’ll never get better. You need to know your own standards and then meet them. Others will follow your lead. If you think you are good, they most likely will too. But if you rely upon others to buttress your failing self- impression those others will come to resent you because people know it’s not their place to do that.

I stayed home in the early years, we lived frugally, and then worked up my career as the family matured. My goal was always to prioritize my family, so I tried not to let the work interfere. My husband was laid off 8 months ago - hasn’t found a new job despite massive efforts - I’m grateful I have my career now.
