i think its just plain biphobia - as in, most people dont believe bi is a thing, they think of it as a phase and you will eventually pick one side. this is not helped by the fact that many gay men come out as bi first(or at least used to 10, 15 years ago) only to "decide" they are actually gay later. if you believe that bi is not real, why would you invest time in a relationship with someone you think will most likely "turn" gay and abandon you? there are plenty of bi women, just date them :)
