Sometimes it can be hard to have sympathy for someone without understanding their emotional state. What the experiment found (see figure 3 b) is that women without stress were equally as egocentric as men with stress. Equally! If men's empathy levels under stress are bad, then women without stress are also horribly un-empathetic.
