You left out the possibility of chronic infection by slow growing bacteria or fungi. In which case antihistamines won't do much.

Not in all cases, could mean you do have a pathogen chronically present and your immune system is constantly triggered by it, yet not strong enough to overcome it.

Can confirm my chronic sinusitis certainly is causing voice problems (as well as snoring). I mostly breathe through my nose but honestly breathing through my mouth is more comfortable. Yes I noticed that they often ignore negative/positive and talk about intensity instead. The physics analogy in OP's post is a brilliant simple way to sum it up. That is the only part of the post I read and knew immediately what the rest was about.
