I'm not sure women actually mean to teach anyone that basic decency is rewarded by sex. Why would we? I'm not gonna say there is no people that see everything as a transgression, but so far I have met plenty men who transgress easily without that. And plenty who don't. I don't think they're all unicorns. It's true that feminism is not a monolithic entity. This is my kind of feminism and I don't deal with the other kind, because I think it's a bunch of nutjobs. So shitty old sexist movies are shi…

I think so, yes. Confidence does not need to lead in everything, an equal partnership is one where people work together and emphasize each other's strengths. "Not all ..." I don't like the argument, but the feminists I read and believe in will push past the goal post for only 1 reason: to hit it. There's crazy freaky people in every movement and I don't deal with them.

They can accept them as equals they just won't be in a relationship together. I'm sure you have evidence to back up that claim? More like treats women more than equal. If that's what you want to tell yourself ...

And attractive people can and do expect sex as reward for basic human behavior. Or even just for existing. So you have absolutely no grounds for criticizing others for having such expectations. So if they think it's cool to bash you for looking bad that's cool too cause they do it? What? You want to believe this so badly you refuse to listen. I'm sorry but I lack the time and patience to try and fight with you. I hope in 5 to 10 years you can see the world differently. Good luck.

Because the kind of behavior being shamed there is and always has been completely acceptable for attractive people. I disagree. But I'm sure as the grown up people we are we can all work on creating a society in which it is not. The conventional standards of attractiveness are more or less strictly defined. No. You certainly have visited a porn site before. You know how there is MILFs and fat porn and skinny porn and all kinds of kinks. What the media deems attractive is almost unrelated to what…

I'm defending the public shaming of men you assume are less attractive and I would love to know why you think so. The sub I mention is anonymous, meaning they don't have to fear repercussions apart from the wrath of the internet that will very likely never hit them. You're the one saying it's attraction as the only factor. It's not sometimes different, it's always different, from case to case, from person to person. You seem to be quite upset that someone says attractivity may not be the decidin…

So basically because sometimes niceguys get sex I'm a bully for pointing out they use the wrong approach? There is plenty of wrong approaches that still get the desired result. Why they work depends on many factors. I wouldn't want to limit that to attraction, I don't think that's remotely accurate. A factor that is at least equally as strong is the target's confidence, that's why PUAs have success. A healthy individual will look for an other healthy individual, a niceguy sometimes may even find…

most nice guys are taught and conditioned from childhood to believe that what they're doing is the proper method of earning a woman's affection Yeah and so many other people learn stupid things too. Time to unlearn. Being nice is a basic, there's nothing to earn there. Sucks, but it's not exactly women's fault. That simply isn't what a lot of people have come to understand as a feminist man. Let's assume for a second that this is not a troll: If you have to basically force yourself to do the rig…

Alright so let me make this a little less messy: Women claim to want nice guys, but hate them. r/niceguys is not an actual representation of nice guys. If you didn't notice the guys quoted there all feel like they are entitled to sex because they don't act like complete assholes. An actual nice guy is nice without complaining about not having sex because he treats women as more than just walking pussy. We like that! We like someone we can talk to about politics or how shitty the air condition is…

Humor. Please please add humor. It's so important to be able to laugh together. If you're looking for someone to spend your life with, ideally you have roughly the same need for stability. So if you both want to travel the world with a backpack that's great, or if you both want to buy a house that's great. Having projects or goals together is good for any relationship.

An old friend of mine regularly got very bothered. He was gifted with looks that were just amazing, but he absolutely hated the attention. He hated to be touched and every other girl that made friends would attempt to hug him. It was really difficult for him. I think guys grow up with a healthier relationship to their body. As a girl if your legs aren't shaved don't you dare wear a skirt and some guys run around happily telling you that women look awful without make up. You get told to cover up …

So people who are willing to take more risks have more sex? I wonder why that would be the case ... And then there is the group of people who are willing to take risks, but not all that ready to take risks and they may be nice too, but who knows?

Being nice to others is basic social skills. I don't know what elementary school would teach people that it's the way to women's hearts. It's the base for that. But nothing ever entitles you to someone else's love. Even if there was a college course for niceguys you can still notice that it's really just teaching you to be a decent human being. And no college course ever entitled you to a job either.

Thank you for writing this! I was wondering if I should write something roughly explaining what's wrong with nice guys, but you covered all the bases and more. Awesome!

"what would it take for you to want to have sex with me?" I think this is the wrong question. When you meet someone you usually decide in a very short time if they are attractive or not. After that at least for me it doesn't "take" anything, I either want to or I don't. Someone asking this very question would appear even less attractive because he seems to be willing to change things about himself just to get laid. In RP terms that's beta as fuck. If I told someone they were too much like a brot…

You apply "Why bother?" to trying to reach your goal because that's easier. Approaching a girl has you emotionally invested, even if just because you're scared of being rejected. Without dehumanizing the girl you can't quite get out of that one, she can always reject you and that will always be somewhat scary. What you can do is decide it's still worth the trouble, because having a relationship or simply getting laid is nice enough to go through the angsty phase before that. It's probably helpfu…

like they cant see it or they think nothing of it This is exactly what I do with people and so far it's gotten me nothing but gratitude. Maybe your kid with the tattoo did that to get attention or maybe he did it to have something to hide behind. Sometimes it's really hard to draw that line at all (Günther Grass wrote a really interesting book about this called Cat and Mouse). I understand why you say as a society it may not be possible to look past this kind of thing, but I believe that shouldn…

The original discussion was built around a thread where people did not want to believe that women could like an - in their opinion - non-ideal male body better. In that case those women are special and instead of just accepting that tastes can vary - which is most definitely a fact in my opinion - they got called liars. As if somehow liking a different kind of body than promoted by media would make them special. I'm pretty sure it doesn't. So let's look at your 18 year old with a face tattoo. Le…

Superman is special and that's what makes him important. If you don't get attention any other way this is how you get it. But you're forgetting that Superman had to hide being special and I promise this world is full of people who were born special - highly intelligent, highly sensitive, maybe with a chemical imbalance in their brain or they just turned out to be gay. And none of those actually chose to be special, they still get shit for sticking out because people like you think acceptance is …

Claiming I'm a homosexual dolphin is something I'd do for attention. Rejection is attention. If you simply accept this kind of thing on the other hand you end up being a huge disappointment for someone who is pretending. On the other hand the world is full of special people and most of them suffer because they are special already. I don't see how it hurts anyone to simply accept that someone is different. I'm also wondering how being a homosexual dolphin would get you more money. I'm European an…

If we just accept every opinion people have of themselves than we end up with shit like "I identify as a homosexual dolphin who shoots lasers and cant go to work on fridays. I also self harm and im a quadsexual" Would that harm you in any way? Obviously as the employer you'd have to choose how to deal with the Fridays, but that's about all the harm I see. I just think people invest way too much time judging if what others tell them is true. Who cares? If you want to be a dolphin, by all means, g…
