It doesn't automatically mean there's misogyny, but it's more than a "shred of evidence". There's been plenty written about the experiences of women in STEM and how they leave the field because it can be an unwelcoming/discriminatory environment. Having fewer women in power is a result of that, and also contributes to that.

However, lack of "female leadership" is irrelevant. We don't need female leadership. Females aren't trying to get into STEM that much, so what does it matter? Those things are tied together. If you have all-male leadership, you may have people who care less about preventing sexual harassment or other kinds of discrimination against women, which in turn makes the field less hospitable to women.

Hrm? Well that's more of a rule than a critique, which is why I used the word "improve". Let me try again on your template: "When picking up women, if you sleep with one who has a boyfriend, her boyfriend won't like it and she might regret it, so you should try to avoid it." How's that? Of course that leaves out the part of whether it concerns you or not that other people will be affected by your actions, but for this rule we'll leave it implied that it does.

I agree, this particular issue is pretty contentious; I personally err on the side of taking more responsibility, but I know reasonable people may disagree. It's more the general meta-idea being espoused that morality shouldn't factor into seddit at all that turns me off, in combination with the little things here and there. Yeah... seddit has definitely opened my mind to some things, and over time I've become defensive about it when people trivialize PUA as being all about negging and peacocking, but there's definitely a low standard of morality here that always bothers me. I think this post is my sign to unsubscribe... I'd much rather keep my moral judgements and lose out on some sex, in the long run. Too bad.

I just make a point of pre-gaming with a few beers or shots whenever I go out; I'll still have to get drinks outside but hopefully fewer. Obviously you don't want to overdo it though and end your night early.

I dunno, someone who was already my good friend. It's safe to act like anyone who has cheated is the devil and should be dropped - that gives you better odds of not getting screwed over, but it's selfish and short-sighted. People are people and can do stupid and really bad things, without making them really bad people. Stopped reading pretty early on... I see the point but it's too simplistic. Cutting off anyone who friendzones you and immediately dumping anyone who cheats on you seems like a good idea if you're liable to be taken advantage of, but not if you can handle yourself and you want to be a decent human being and treat women as such.

I think it depends on your audience. That's actually a really good point - if anything this study as an allegory could be used to support the carrying on of tradition/norms. It would've been more striking if they noted that the scientists had turned off the water at some point.

I definitely understand that. My first kiss was a pretty grimy spin the bottle game, my first lay was equally non-romantic, and I'm a pretty romantic guy.
