I was like you too, I didn’t really think it mattered. But just ask yourself this simple question: would you refer to your sister / daughter / mother / grandmother as a female in general conversation? e.g. “My mum cooked me dinner last night, she’s a wonderful female.” If your answer is no, then think about why that is. Another reason is that female is defined around reproductive qualities. Not every woman is capable of bearing children (and that’s not even getting onto gender identification, ju…

You’re right in that situation, but there’s a reason for its use there. When creating that form the tester doesn’t necessarily know your age, so asking a 6 year old if they are a man or a woman would be incorrect. On a similar line we also use male and female to define animals when we don’t know the correct term for them. However in common English (and every other language) we have words to describe female humans. As a result, the title of your post just sounds clunky because you called them fem…

No it’s because female is an adjective. If I said to you “Hey male, how’s it going? How’s work on your male cave going? I’m going to the pub later with the males, wanna come with?” I literally sound insane. Just call them women. I’ve got no problem with the word if you use it correctly. If you are describing their biological gender then yeah sure.

Because it’s an adjective. It describes the person rather than define them. So ‘female dog’ as you mention is correct because it’s describing the dog. Also bitch for a female dog is fine, as you say it’s the correct term. I’m not being sensitive, just grammatically accurate. In the title of this post it should be ‘what aren’t women able to get away with?’ Because women is a noun.

Obviously the double standard is awful. But can we all just stop using female as a noun? It’s weird, incorrect, and sounds like something an incel would say. Thanks in advance for downvoting me to hell.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
