Me neither but until he has a temporary custody order, his situation is likely getting worse by the day while he’s gone. If a woman left she would just take the kids with her and nobody would bat an eye.

You need to talk to a lawyer but if she was never legally your wife then I don’t see how she can force you to do anything. She’d have to sue you in civil court and try to prove that she’s entitled to it outside of marriage law.

There was one complaining today about how she had to pay child support to the guy who left her. So angry that she earned all the money and had to pay this guy. Welcome to the club, sister.

The really good ones usually do because their time is pretty valuable. IMO if their reputation is good enough, that consultation fee is worth every penny.

And then when they do find them, the judge rips you a new one.

It’s fairly uncommon though and generally only if the wife never/barely worked.

You can get hookers in the US too, lol

Just think about more decades of that and dying miserable, then divorce doesn’t seem so scary. Make an appointment with a lawyer just to get the lay of the land. It’s no commitment and it takes part of the unknown out of the equation.

The only reason women have a leg up in this game is because men accept a woman who brings nothing to the table except sex. If we judged them on the same criteria they judge us (money, status, career, provider), only a small fraction would be suitable for consideration in a long term relationship.

You’re the primary caregiver, she’s making the money, she’s having an affair. Seems like open and shut “go to a lawyer, get primary custody, and demand your child support (and maybe alimony)” type of situation to me.

Some people hit rock bottom and change. Some people are afraid to lose their situation/control and start manipulating their partner to stay. How likely it is really depends on the person and their history.

Sorry for your hard times brother. But you are in a unique situation for men. The house being in her name is irrelevant if purchased with joint assets and was for communal use. She may owe you spousal support for the huge disparity in income, too. Her savings are your savings unless you signed some sort of prenup. Your legal fees should be shared with her in the settlement. Don’t accept anything less than what you’re entitled to and make sure your attorney is willing to advocate for you.

There is no research to confirm that it works. lol… well I guess at least it feels like it works

💯 Women actually value a man that’s not all over socials but it also drives the crazy ones crazy because they have no dirt or leverage. Also they have a complete double standard because they will post every stupid detail of their life for public consumption.

If they have a problem with fair play, they are not the one. Dodge that bullet brother.

Exercise is the most effective anti-depressant and it also happens to have lots of other good effects. Self-confidence that comes from it is powerful.

Definitely get some good legal advice. Now she’s establishing the status quo that she’s the more available parent (for custody) and that she needs spousal support (since she had no income).

Mine had OCPD, which is a little different, but it also destroyed the marriage because it interfered with everything and made life just suck and not worth living together. Either she commits to serious treatment or you need to go. It won’t get better by doing it one inch at a time. Also it sounds like you don’t share values anymore (eg religious stuff) so maybe it’s better you just go live your life in peace anyway. Now imagine what it would be like to have children with this woman… crank it up …

Doubt you’ll find answers here. Sounds like a good topic for individual therapy

Damn. Driving my kids around drunk, I think I’d be calling the cops on her every time I could. That’s crazy. I got hit by an intoxicated woman with a kid in the back. She didn’t buckle him up right and he flew into the windshield. He went to the children’s hospital with life-threatening brain and other injuries. She got sent to prison for 7 years.

That’s sucks. Seems like parental alienation though and a judge wouldn’t take kindly to a mother pulling a fast one like this. Good luck, brother.

Seems like you have enough evidence to get primary custody of your children based on her history in choosing men who are around your children. She is gonna lose that court battle trying to take your kids to Hawaii. You have the upper hand. Be cool and collected, fact-based. Get your kids.

True, and also if you have the paper trail. Once you mix it in a joint account or something, all bets are off.

Unfortunately this is not true unless you spelled it out in some prenup or other agreement.

Once you co-mingle separate assets or use them for joint purposes, you generally forfeit the right to consider it a separate asset. Expensive lesson. All you can hope for now is that she falls for this idea and agrees to subtract it. Good luck.

Seems like it would only make sense in a sentimental situation where you really want to keep the house. Financially you’d be better off taking your half of the equity from sale and buying your own house, or investing in the S&P 500 long term. To know for sure I’d have to understand how much of your future gains they’re taking. I’m guessing it’s a lot.

I would actually bet a woman who keeps her name is more likely to be educated and accomplished, rather than a leech who wants a meal ticket. But these are all generalizations… marriage is dangerous for men anyway.

Seem like in Texas it only matters if the mother is the one leaving. Dad can stay there during the divorce and the court will still give her primary custody and make him pay the child support even if he ultimately has them 50% of the time. Or am I wrong?

Brother I was in this situation and my wife was saying the same things. I chose to believe her, then had another, all that went out the window and life became just as hard as I imagined. Trust your instinct on this one and don’t budge. If she keeps pestering you then call her bluff and let her file for divorce.

As much as it’s satisfying to dream about, suing a law firm is likely just going to bury you in even more debt and consume your life.

They aren’t going to work for free but that doesn’t mean they’ll drop the case. Lawyers always get paid first and once they get a handle on your assets, if there are any, they’ll work as hard as needed to get their fee from your assets.

Lol. Imagine if a man’s divorce attorney could just tell the wife to “get a job”. Get what you’re owed under the law.

She’s trying to let you off easy so she can raise your kid with another man and cut you out for the most part. You’re not going to have 50/50 custody from 6 hours away, no matter what she’s telling you. And when this eventually goes to court as a custody battle, she’s gonna win cause you let her take your daughter 6 hours away. The time to fight is now. Might have to part with some of that money to keep your daughter around.

Time to move on, brother. Your feelings are normal. You cared for her and it ended poorly. But you are feeling grief, not regret. You’ve done the right thing in this situation and time will heal.

Courts won’t care. She’s entitled to half the equity in it and you’re entitled to half the equity in hers, unless a judge decides differently.

She figured out she’s at a disadvantage under the law and now wants to exploit your emotions to let her just skate away with your house and your equity. Don’t fall for it.

I dunno man I’m just a guy on the internet but your situation with this person sounds insanely toxic and she’s gonna keep hiding things from you, putting you in further debt, and actively triangulating and estranging you from your children. Someone like this virtually never gets better - they lack the capability of insight and introspection. However bad it is now, it’s only going to get worse if you stay with her.

I’d definitely rather live alone after spending so much time having to consider someone else’s opinion about everything in my home…
