I really do hope for the best for you. On top od what the other poster said, training is a huge relief for your relationship with your dog. Mine comes when called every time thanks to training so I can take her to open fields and let her run herself into the ground hunting mice and chasing the occasional rabbit. There's also lots of lazy dogs out there. So many older dogs are sitting in shelters and they just want food, a warm place to nap, and some affection in return for devoted companionship.
