This is massively important to business dealings with pretty much every coworker, supervisor and subordinate you will ever meet. The best part about this technique, is you don't have to actually be naturally skilled for it to make you more successful at life. It's as important as being skilled at optics in terms of long term success. I'll grab a copy for myself to learn a bit more.

It's a concept called talent stacking. The likelihood that a single person is in the 80th percentile in a handful on unrelated traits is low. It all boils down to this: you are more special than you think. Act like it.

I agree with the 50/50 even split for anything acquired after marriage. It's a fair way to do it. But I think there needs to be a clear definition of when punitive alimony applies. IMO I think alimony should only be paid in punitive amounts (I.e. fixed) when there is fault claimed. If a no fault divorce is claimed, the alimony amount should split the difference in incomes (as reported to social security) each year for five years whereafter the alimony amount expires. Lives shouldn't be destroyed…

If you happen to have a security system installed in your house that happens to have camera installed in your bedroom, wouldn't that be considered fair game?

This book is a pretty decent one regarding the differences in communication styles. I read it a few years back. Here's a summary of the book edit - That was a really shitty summary. I didn't read it well enough past the first page. my bad.

In your opinion, what is the best way to proceed when presented with an allegation? Deny first then invoke your right to remain silent?

It was a scotus decision in 2013. I only heard about it recently.

Here's what Wikipedia says about that case for the interested: In R. v. Singh (163 C.R.R. (2d) 280), a person in police custody invoked his right to silence 18 times, and after each invocation, the police continued to browbeat the detained subject with further questioning, implying that his claim of a right to silence was either ineffective or meaningless. The Canadian Supreme Court ruled that this police behavior did not violate the right to silence, so the evidence obtained could be admitted. …

I completely agree with you. It just reinforces the statement "never speak to the police without a lawyer present". I'm on my phone, but I'll do my best to send you what I have. From Wikipedia: June 17, 2013, SCOTUS ruled in Salinas vs Texas that: "Petitioner's Fifth Amendment claim fails because he did not expressly invoke the privilege against self-incrimination in response to the officer's question". In other words, the individual must specifically invoke the Fifth Amendment right to "remain …

You could get one of those dash cams. Perhaps that would help? It becomes less of a he said she said argument. And cops get less aggressive when they know they are being recorded.

The whole point of this post is that sometimes you don't get that opportunity. There are literally thousands of ways he can legally detain you even when you did nothing directly. Sure, it doesn't hurt to ask, but I would always assume you are being detained. The other thing I think that other should know is that courts allow cops to use "professional judgement" as evidence. That is why they ask you to do sobriety tests whenever you get pulled over at night. There is no way to be successful in co…

We are living in the antibiotic bubble. One of the reasons monogamy had been pushed the last umteen thousand years is that VD doesn't spread well without sexual relations. In millennia past, it would be referred to as "God smiting the wicked". The antibiotic boom has allowed for us to get ill and get better with little consequence. That period is coming to a close. It will snap right back to how it was 150 years ago when diseases were untreatable. Biology is more precocious than technology.

I believe he is asserting that classical education is useless without individual instruction. My understanding is that his comments are more along the lines of "what's the point if you can't ask enough thought provoking questions to be of value".

Professional skills trainer / middle manager in any field. I've had a billion bad "instructors" in my professional life (I'm an engineer). Great teachers are great communicators. Communication is the lifeblood of business. You have a pretty good leg up on the competition.

I'm sure a CPA could tell you the best way to do it. just mention you are looking to protect yourself from lawsuits. Look for someone who currently generated passive income from real estate.

Depends on your goal. Women are perfect for leading the fight in political battles. They argue over little things like "phrasing" which can be a massive deal in contracts. Consensus building or stakeholder analysis would work well for them too. I would trust maybe a handful of the women I know in a leadership position (as in two). Mostly because they don't act like women in the office. It's all business.

Not steal. Stealing assumes you can get something for nothing. The word I think you are looking for is replicate. You are reinventing the dance move with limited information and often do it incorrectly/less than adequately a number of times, improving your technique little by little while trying to compensate for miscues. Reducing a step two inches to the left to be better balanced for the next step. Slightly increasing resistance mid turn to maintain timing. It's all experimental and something …

You read to memorize. Then you comment to learn. And then, when you feel strong enough in your beliefs, you only chime in once and a while. It's not censorship, it's simplicity. There are plenty of other subs that hold the opposing point of view to this sub. All the mods are saying is go there if you are going to troll.

It doesn't matter. Part of TRP is understanding that every man is an island. Unless someone else does something to you, its doesn't matter until you decide it does. Take control of your thoughts and actions and you will control your destiny.

Charisma is verbal communication skill that can be acquired and increased with practice. Happiness is a positive mental state. They aren't directly correlated except when you are pursuing a particular goal (i.e. getting a girls number). The point of this post is that happiness is attractive primarily because it a positive mindset. A positive mindset gives preferential weighting to positive events, and minimizes the impact of negative events. Why do we care? Positivity allows you to maintain you'…

I'll piggyback on that with my favorite HIMYM quote: "When I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead." Happiness is a mindset which its why its easy for some and ridiculously difficult for others. You have to choose to be happy and believe it. I've tried to explain this to unhappy people before and the most common response is "it's just not that easy." Yes it is. And that's why it's so damn hard.

My problem with this way of describing alpha/beta is it doesn't referencing the underlying difference between the two. We often say "this action is alpha" leaving the why implied. But you only know that if you think about it long enough. Alpha centers around increasing personal satisfaction and self mastery (an internal focus). Beta centers around the satisfaction and demonstration of value to others (an external focus). One reference we often use that bothers me is how cooking is described as d…

The truth is always conditional. There is no law in science that exists without boundaries. Even gravity has boundaries we don't fully understand (ie why the universe expansion is accelerating). Most impulsive behavior is driven by psychological needs not being met. Rape is an impulsive behavior. But even impulsive behavior is dictated by situation. The frequency of rape via familial relations indices that rape is less of an opportunistic action than an emotional action by the aggressor. If it w…

Remember we aren't talking about hold-the-woman-down-in-the-back-of-an-alley-while-she-screams type rape. Most rape is committed by friends/family members and arguably people who do has some level if vested emotional interest in the victim. IMO it's less about power and more about fulfilling a psychological need. If it were only about power, the statistics would skew heavily toward random-encounter rapes.

I've got a question for you as a childless male in his mid 20's who is curious as to your opinion: At what age do you start teaching boys RP material? On one hand I see the need to do it as early as possible in order to best teach leadership qualities that carry on throughout life. But on the other hand, children always take things a few steps too far when they shouldn't and could lead to a bunch of problems from the feminized establishment. At what time do you see this material becoming appropr…

You ask for direct statistical evidence. It wouldnt matter. Studies are too constrained in scope to apply to real world situations (which is why they are next to useless). Here in this sub we focus on social anomalies discovered through experience. haven't you noticed that certain men have extra-ordinary success with women but they don't look like brad Pitt? that some people at work are given de-facto leadership even if others are more qualified? That when you do exactly what women say, that is …

Depends if you consider the act of cooking (arguably a traditional women's task) a beta trait, but I don't agree. Everyone I know that can cook is an alpha. It's almost ubiquitous. I actually believe cooking is an alpha trait because of the time and dedication it takes t become a good one. It requires self drive and discipline to achieve. IMO It is a sign that you can actively provide (for yourself and others) sustenance which is one of the core tenets of being a man. Betas don't get around to l…

Why not? I do it. I proudly state I am a novice/beginning cook that enjoys cooking quality food. You should too. It is a skill that most don't have (including following the directions on the page) and takes a concerted effort to cultivate. And it saves you a ton of money and is twice as healthy. I Use the website seriouseats for great recipes that are tested by their staff. Most of them aren't hard to make if you're willing to spend the time on it.

I don't think it's limited to only an MBA (side note: getting an mba through a company is a great way to develop a business plan for your OWN company). Advancing your abilities with additional training, certifications, and degrees is the goal. Your 20's is the time web your cash flow is least restricted and also the time where you salary grows the most (as a percentage of income). Sure you would. There is massive gender gap in fields that are potentially dangerous, dirty, or require large amounts of physical labor. That missing 9 cents accounts for a ton of hazard pay and field work. Just because they are capable, doesn't mean employers would be able to find women to fill those slots.

I agree with your assertion with only one caveat. It is acceptable to get a 2nd tier degree (something that doesnt directly lead to a hiring in the major of choice) only if you are using it as a stepping stone to entrepreneurial opportunity (e.g. Psychology to become a psychologist or to start a sales agency).

We use the analogies because they are 90% right and take 10% of the time. By using one empirical generalization (women are emotional adolescents) and compare it to another (women are just as emotionally capable as men), we end somewhere closer to the truth. The important point isn't to avoid the little arguments. That's simply a result. By saying "women are emotional adolesents" we are alluding to a situation similar to a parent and their teenage child (you will find 90% of the generalization ar…

This line of thought is not productive. You are asking if anyone who took TRP has gotten better results with women. Of course we have. But the question you are asking ("will this help me get chicks?") is the wrong question. Getting women is a result of the TRP self-improvement process. The question you should be asking is "am I happy enough with my current lifestyle that I do not feel I need to change?" The ultimate goal of TRP is getting you to approve of the man you see in the mirror. It's abo…

First off, this is primarily a relationship sub, but the theory is applicable to more than just relationships. There's a lot of male bonding going on here. There a lot of people here who have been pretty badly burned by SOs to the point of never wanting to fall in love again. There are others who are using this sub as a springboard to positive action (getting introverts to leave their shell). It's not all about women bashing. We all take different things from this sub. Alpha and Beta are extremely vague terms that can mean a host of different things depending on the situational context (i.e. trying to lead while someone else is of superior ability is a beta trait). It's clearer when you regard it as "leading" and "following" when referencing who is directing action. I cant agree more man. I have been in my relationship for almost 4 years, and both her and I both have a properly balanced, respected amount of Leading and Following. We work with each other to sol…

Ultimately a rite of passage is symbolic , is exclusive to males , demands recognition from men and provides/display something to the society. I think a rite of passage should be defined as a psychological turning point where you become some (or all) of the man you wish to be in your own eyes. It doesn't necessarily need to be something the public sees. Hell it doesn't even need to be a success. A heroic failure also counts. I'll throw in two of my turning points: When I (a 12 yo) gave up 19 run…

Cross country is a good one. It is mentally and physically demanding, but allows them to push their mental limits on their abilities early and often. It also helps them stay in shape without having to resort to those ridiculous diets. As an anecdotal side note, the people involved in the sport tend to be genuinely nice people and run on the more studious and focused side of life. My sister did basketball. I dont think you will have to worry. You seem to care a great deal and are willing to put the time in to raising them. Only a few things i think are worth mentioning for raising kids. treat them like a mini adult that has only a handful of years of experiences and knowledge...like an intern. Don't compare their successes or failures to anyone other than themselves. You don't need to give them a reality check, their peers will do it for you (unless you are a coach, then it's your job).
