I think you guys have taken this Alpha/Beta thing to an extreme where it isn't even applicable. If some guy doesn't even care about your existence then where does that put him. Maybe, he didn't feel like leaving his girlfriend talking to some random guy because he was done with whatever he was doing and wanted to go home. I say that suppose that if you went to clubs every night you would get comfortable with club culture which includes how to interact with people. It seems to work pretty well for bartenders, djs, bouncers and the like.

You are wrong about that. I was in a similar situation where this girl kept bringing her friend to hang out. Me and the friend would be flirting / getting along really well. Well, one day when the friend wasn't around the first girl asked me if I liked her friend and wanted her to set things up.
