In order to get an attorney to even talk to you about a case with even a moderate level of complexity, will cost you $10,000 - $15,000 just to walk in the door. There are attorney's who will take less, but there is a reason for that. Any lawyer worth their salt, and most of the ones that aren't, want an up front retainer. 1	Can't settle a divorce, suggestions? I did, I called and asked her the status. We have been discussing this, but in anything, the more information you have the better. Been through 3 attorneys, and I have asked questions and been the law library. I am looking for angles and can present to my attorney, so I can say, well what if we tried to file an X, or can't we notify Y.. 1	Can't settle a divorce, suggestions? It's because my spouse did not want to settle, she got a judgement against me which I appealed. Then when she found out that I was appealing and this time I had an attorney, she decided she want to settle, she knows if I can get to court with an attorney and prove my case she is F'd and will owe me a lot of money, maybe even go to jail for fraud.
