I've been working on gaining social power in situations where I'm the token female in a male-dominated culture (auto shops, construction crews, etc.). Eye contact is a huge part of it. Making eye contact before speaking to a person for the first time, then holding it until they break it shifts the power dynamic, making you come out more dominant. You seem to have some skewed views about what people want in relationships and how they interact.
