...and even then you may sit in jail for over a week because said evidence is on the phone that they booked into property when they arrested you. Turns out that stating "there was absolutely no physical interaction whatsoever" is translated in the cops mind to mean "he admits she did not strike him and since she still claims he shoved her that means only he is getting arrested."

comment is a bit old, but: sadly, I have met people that will continually seek victim status because it gets them attention. "I was raped"..."oh you poor dear, tell me about it...". social interaction/bonding achieved. do not discount the lengths a person will go to for attention and sympathy.

I speak of the US. The officers had what would be considered reasonable suspicion: A report/complaint was made, and so they have a duty to follow up on it. it isn't as though they could flat out ignore the original reporting busybody. The GF had to at least identify himself, but he didn't have to produce an ID. He didn't know that, or at least wasn't sure. The officers handled it in a meat-headed way, not community policing IMO. I consider that a symptom of our increasingly militarized/combative…
